It is possible that Angus complained that the fireworks that have appeared in the past for Jan 1st New Year and Lunar New Year frighten the fish. However, we did get fireworks last year for Lunar New Year, and just to "prove" that they were supposed to be there this year, here's the FB announcement. Those tubs in the water are definitely our fireworks. Maybe the riverboat ran over them and they sank before they could be deployed in the fishing area.
