IMHO, and I really don't mean to be rude, being a small potato and all.

This is, what, D3 of the update?
It would only be natural that DE is still so rare during raids.

1. Only the higher levels (TH8 & 9) can build drills
- and that too, if they happened to have 1 million elixir lying around,
- and that too, if that 1 million wasn't being saved up for something else, say troop / barrack / camp upgrade.

2. L1 drill can only produce 20/H
- L2 costs 2 million to upgrade (see reasons above)
- so unless you found someone who logged out for a relatively long period of time, you won't be raiding much from the mines

3. There is a cap for storage & nobody's storing it in excess like the other resources because everyone who has it, still needs to use it.

We should all give DE some more time.
Sooner or later, more ppl will start building / upgrading their drills, or
more ppl would have accumulated a substantial amount in their storages, or
more ppl would have maxed out their heroes & start leaving that stuff lying around.

I for one have seen my DE raids go from 1-10 yesterday to 50-100 today.

Thinks 20/H is a little slow, but still has fun collecting ONE dark elixir every minute or so.

With a level 1 drill only (i.e. no raiding), it would take 13 years to collect enough DE to level 30 a barb king. With a level 6 drill, it would take nearly three years. This is based on having a single drill. With two drills, obviously everything is halved, not including the 24 days it takes to upgrade the drill and the 21 it takes for the storage.


To max out a drill costs 24 million, while for a storage it's 12.6 million.


It will take months, if not years, for there to be decent DE farming for the bulk of COC players. In short, I don't think most players will get past a level 1 barb king, let alone an archer queen, which costs even more.

It is even worse than that! Someone on my revenge list had two drills, about 50 in each, and 3015 DE in storage. Sweet, I thought. He's got a farming build. I hit him, and total the drills and storage completely. I got 110 DE. Hardly 20% is it? He was 10 levels below me, same TH. pathetic.

from what i ve found loot on DE is 5% on storage and 75% on drill (assuming the TH is same lvl or higher)

So getting it from raid is gonna take some weeks to be good.

My DE storage is now at 10% capacity and still looks the same as when it was empty. I would have thought that it would have been more like the Elixir storage and would show it getting fuller.

If you must

The heros are too weak until you get to at least lvl 10 which will take a non-gemmer a LONG time. At lvl 10 the barb king is roughly equivalent to a PEKKA, once he get's knocked out the wait is too long to make them worthwhile as they are.

No one would use a PEKKA to defend as archers just demolish them with the ranged attack - so king's have the same limitation.

If you are interested waking a lvl 30 King takes 300 gems

Oh and finally once you have the lvl 30 heroes there is no more need for DE

I'm in the 1300-1500 range and the most I ever see to loot of DE is about 50. These targets tend to have lower amounts of gold and elixir so I don't bother raiding them.

ok fair point at the lower cup levels there will be less DE to loot - i agree with you there, sorry i should have mentioned that i was really referring to the 2k and up range

Personally I don´t gem. The only gems I´ve bought was for my 4 huts. And I have CC lvl 4, soon x-bow, TH9, 3 x wizardtowers lvl4, mortars lvl 5 etc, walls lvl 6/7. And I agree with flammy5. We should be thankfull to those who gem, because they are the one who is the reason that us others can play free! I´m thankfull for that. I´m sure I wouldn´t downloaded this game if it costed 10/20 dollars, (which may seem like a high fee, but if Supercell should have gained the same amount of money, the download fee had to be that high). They´ve taken a big risk, working years to devolope ths game, and they didn´t know for sure that this game was going to pay their bills, but look what a success this game has become. Best iDevice game ever! No others are even close. Thanks for making this awesome game which leads to hundreds of thousands enjoy playing CoC every day.

For those who complain that its impossible to keep DE, blaim yourself for not having good enough defence!

This proves why it's a huge waste of time for heros as a result of it taking far to long to collect DE
