How many production slots to go for

It would be great for everyone to share how much of diamonds you are willing to spend to upgrade certain production buildings for extra slots (:

To start with, mine is as per below:

Feed mill: 4 slots each
Dairy: 5 slots (previously 3 slots)
Sugar mill: 5 slots (previously 4 slots)
Popcorn pop: 3 slots (previously 2 slots)
BBQ Grill: 3 slots (previously 2 slots)
Pie oven: 3 slots
Loom: 3 slots (previously 2 slots)
Cake oven: 3 slots (previously 2 slots)
Smelter: 1 slot each (3 smelters)
Juice press: 3 slots
Ice cream maker: 3 slots (previously 2 slots)
Jam maker: raising money 😊

Basically, I'm only willing to spend max 9/12 diamonds to upgrade a slot.

Wow, you're getting by with very little space. I have 4 to 8 slots on everything (8 is for the dairy) except 2-3 for the smelters and jam maker. This way I can produce a lot of things overnight or during the day when I can't acces my farm regularly.

I keep mine 3 slots max each. Hard to find diamonds for me. So I don't upgrade as much as other people. I use my phone all day anyways, so it's not a problem for me to having to queue items up.

Pay sugar machine has the most at 5 slots, the others I have increased to 4 each. Since the jam makers and shelters take for ever to produce, you are safe at 2 or 3 only.

Yup I keep those take more than 4 hours max at 3 slot, never beyond that. Btw I got you in my friend list, I think; level 41? (;

I don't increase slots on any of my machines, and get by pretty okay. :) I have just the default on everything, although I seem to have obtained extra slots on bread and juicer machines the last few level increases - otherwise just at 2 or 3 per item.

What is the max queue for the production units? I assume all max out at the same number of slots.

I find spending my diamonds on production upgrade to be the best use of them.

Like ellanoppu said, it's good for overnight production. That said, most of my thing have low slots except for dairy(8), sugar mill(9) and feed mills (6). Everything else is 3-4 slots with more upgrades to come.

I would like to have enough to keep the equipment operating all night while I sleep. That's only 2 on the jam maker, but more on the dairy or juicer

I look at how long the product is going to take to make and base my number of slots on that, especially for when I'm asleep so my production time is to the maximum. Don't want it to finish production with still 5 hours sleeping time left.
Also be aware you don't want to fill up all slots while you are awake and then have a boat order come in and find you have product in cue that you don't want in your boat order. I've been caught out with this a few times.

This seems logical

I have 5 slots of sugar mills and 4 for dairy....the rest are 3s and 2s...

Like others said already it depends on production times for most items in the machine.

My current level is 47 and I just bought my last slot (9th) for the sugar mill today :D

The sugar mill is definately one of the machines that needs many slots, because at higher levels you need so much sugar for producing other stuff too also dairy is very usefull.

I am still trying to save diamond for other machines too.
My dairy plant and feed mills have 6 slots.

5 slots for juicer just for the carrot juice.
4 slots for ice cream, bakery, popcorn pot, cake and pie oven, BBQ grill (but bought the 4th by mistake)
3 slots loom and coffee kiosk
2 slots jeweler and jam maker
1 slot smelters.

I wish I raised this earlier. I ended up wasting diamonds on the smelters when given the production times it really wasn't necessary. I think as was stated earlier if you can set up your queues to produce everything whilst you are asleep then this is the right way to go. Anyway I will bear this in mind for my future purchases.

Ok here is what I have currently in slots numbers.

Bakery - 4 but will increase to more (1 hour highest production time = 4 hours - so I need more there)

Smelters - 2 - shortest time is 8 hours. (if you have for eg. 2 hours left when you go to bed - you need the 2nd slot to continue during the night)

Popcorn - I have 3 but will increase (chilli popcorn - 2 hours - so I have only 6 hours covered of my sleep time) Need more.

Jam - 2 slots - same reason as smelters

Juicer - I have 3 - mixed berry takes 3 hours - 3x3=9 hours - but if i want to product something like apple - I need more slots overnight while I sleep - to keep production going.

Sugar Mill - currently i have 6 slots - will extend to maximum when i can.

ETC, ETC ETC - I'm sure you can see how I'm working now with number of slots - it's the same principal with all others.
I don't have at the moment enough diamonds to extend the rest of my stuff as yet but will when I get the chance.

NOTE: I always make stuff overnight that takes the maximum times so I have production going for a full 8 hours unless I'm working on boat order.
AWEFUL Boat orders - as I've done my captain III - So bad boat orders - I send away.

an extra slot in a smelters isnt that bad but I decide to focuss on other machines first. A least you can Q an extra bar when the previous will be done an hour or so after you would like to go to sleep ? I wish I had realised these things before wasting diamonds on opening those red boxes. It just isnt worth it to find a saw or axe or building materials for that price. In the early levels of the game diamonds dont seem to bo so rare because the first couple of achievements are easy and you level quickly and some levels do have diamond rewards.

Both my two Smelters have only one slot, Since i am always on this game i don't need to worry about adding a second slot. I would only suggest adding another slot if you know you aren't going to be able to log in to collect your bars, that way it will keep the Smelters producing bars.

I have: 4 slots on the pie oven... 5 slots on the bakery... 4 slots on the juice press... 5 slots on the dairy mill... 3 slots on the loom... 4 slots on the cake oven... 3 slots on the ice cream maker... 4 slots on the popcorn pot... 4 slots on the bbq grill... 6 slots on the sugar mill

I will possibly add more slots to the sugar mill, since many of the items produced take little time to make and even less after the mastery. You could say why not load the sugar mill with Syrup before you go to bed? I usually do that unless my boat requires the dreaded brown sugar then more slots always come in handy.

I could have a longgggg sleep when I load my sugar mill with all syrup... LOL
I usually Q some syrup too during the night but more slots will also allow you to Q some brown of white, depending on what you need in the morning.

Jeweller - 1 or 2? I can't remember. Anyway, it's the default number of slot. I don't intend to open up more since it takes ages to make the bars.

I make stuff mainly for truck orders and selective boat orders, not to sell at the roadside stalls (only selling excess animal feeds, axes, saws, building and expansion materials these days). So, the number of slots to open depend a lot on the demand of the products. I spent most of my diamonds on opening dairy and sugar mill slots. Juicer, ice-cream maker and cake maker are worthy investments, in my opinion (if your sugar mill and diary can keep up).

Stuff from popcorn maker, loom and BBQ grill are easily available in the market when I need them, so I don't want to overproduce (I have a small barn). In fact, I can easily have too much excess products from these machines even though they don't have that many extra slots. Sometimes, I have to let these machines idle so as not to overload my barn.

Although I don't have many slots for most of my machines, I don't really have a problem with that. The most problematic is jam maker taking too long for each jam production. Nowadays, my truck orders are all stuck with jams shortage. However, I don't need more slots for jam maker, I need the production time to be shortened. If that can happen, I'd not hesitate to add more slots to the jam maker.

For me, i make juice,cake,drinks, and jam for sell at the shop cos they look so pretty in the slots.

Basically the slots are enough for me to queu the items for overnite production. Any more will be wasteful.

However id love to have 20 slots for dairy and sugarmill, the coffee maker really takes a lot of sugar and cream

Do you spend your diamonds to open all slots or which ones need slots to be opened up all the way.

i've opened 5 slots on a few of my machines and i think it was well worth the diamonds. i also got 560 diamonds at 60% off recently though so i have a little leeway. i do think it is a good choice though it really helps to produce more overnight and during the day when you may be away from the farm.

I think opening up slots on the ice cream maker is a waste of diamonds. I completely agree with the sugar and dairy, and would add animal feed to that.

My general rule of thumb is to open enough slots that I can run production for 10-12 hours at a time. I load up my jam, ice cream maker, cakes, juice and other items with a long production time overnight. I make coffee and bakery items as needed, so keep minimal stock. The two default slots on the coffee maker and candy machine work adequately for me.

It depends how often you play, so adjust accordingly.

Do you open all the slots on the equipment?

Depends on which level you are but I would give preference to the dairy and the Sugar Mill.

Opening all the slots gives you the advantage of filling them before you quit for the day. Always nice to wake up to a barn load of goodies to sell

Yes but that depends on which machine. For example, there is no point in purchasing more slots for the jam maker as all jams take too long to make. For instance it takes six hours to make an apple jam. Make two, and that's twelve hours. If you're going to make apple jams (put them all in queue) before you go sleep, you will end up waking with only two apple jams even if you have more than two slots for the jam maker. Of course this is assuming you sleep for 12 or more hours, but the point is you can already make two without having to buy any more slots. I see no point in opening more slots for the jam maker unless you are sleeping beauty, or an extremely busy guy/girl who only plays Hay Day once a week.

More slots for machines with low production times is very usefull.
I have maxed out my sugar mill and dairy plant at 9 slots and 2 more to go for the feed mills.
In the higher levels you need lots of sugar and dairy to produce other stuff like pies, cakes, ice creams, coffees and it is very usefull to have lots ready in the morning.

Just curious, I have paid diamonds to open 5 on most of mine, for max production when I sleep.

I have noticed that these can be increased further, to what Max? 8 or 10?

And do you higher levels do that? And on what machines for the optimum benefit?
EG. I don't think Smelters are worth it, you can just buy more?

The max slot you can have is 9.

Generally it's good idea to have the dairy and sugar mill have max slots open because at higher levels you will need a lot of sugars and dairies. I have both of them maxed out. Otherwise all other production I just keep as it is.

You should definitely open more slots for the dairy and the sugar mill. Machines which make products that takes a long time to produce (i.e. smelters, jam makers) are not worth your diamonds.

The optimum I've found is:

Candy machine, jewelry maker, jam maker, smelters and coffee machine - leave at the default of two.
Dairy and sugar - maximum of 9

All other machines I open up enough slots so that they can run unsupervised overnight, or for around 12 hours. Usually around 5-7. I make the quick turnaround items while I'm online, and schedule anything that takes longer than an hour to make either overnight or while I'm away from my device.

I open max for dairy and sugar mill. That's the most needed items.Other than that i also open juice machine's slots to the max. 5 for other machines except smelter. I have onky 1 machine and i open 7/8 slots, i forget. That's when i run out of diamonds. When i buy again, i plan to open mac slots for ice cream machines...

for candy maker i think 4 is ok cos so many truck orders are asking for candy also...

I'm max on dairy, sugar, feed mills, bakery and popcorn machine (the latter two were probably a waste.) The rest have five slots. The smelter I haven't touched. Coffee, candy, jam, jeweler I don't have yet.

I was sure I saw a thread about which machines/stations should have their slots expanded or not and which order it's best to do it in but I can't find it now sadly.

I've managed to amass 20 diamonds - wowsers!!!;) Would love some guidance on whether to increase cakes or popcorn, creamery or BBQ. I've already increased both feed stations to 4 slots but don't want to mispend my hard found diamonds.

At least 5 times it happened that I added a new production slot without intention. Just being clumsy, and suddenly I spent diamonds on a new slot :) but that's way better than use them to speed up wheat by mistake :)

I think increasing dairy & sugar slots have been my smartest moves. It's the stuff I use the most of the most frequently.
