Farming Strategy?

Hi all, I'm new to the forums and - while I've played the game for several months now - I'm not very knowledgable about it. I'm attempting to farm, and I have the basics down (Town Hall outside walls, etc.) but I still have a couple of questions...

1) Is it smart to attack as much as possible? For instance, even if I have a shield up, would it be smart to attack another base and try to get resources that way?

2) Is it smart to use the Healers and Wizards? I almost feel like I am getting less elixer in return than what I'm spending (TH 7).

3) Should I make it a priority to get a Dark Elixer drill? I'm not crazy about any of the warriors in the barracks, but it seems like a Barbarian King would be nice.

Yes. You can often make more in a single attack than you will lose on defense, unless your base is very weak or a premature TH. Most farmers rarely keep a shield unless they won't be able to play the game again for a long stretch (bedtime, etc).

No. Not only are they expensive elixir-wise, but healers and wizards are also very slow to train, reducing the amount of times you can attack per hour. If you favor the healer/giant strategy, one healer doesn't hurt your army training time too badly, but I wouldn't recommend that composition because infantry armies do very well anyway. Wizards have the worst training time per housing space in the game so you should almost never use them for efficient farming.

Yes, get the DE drill as soon as you can to start raking in the free DE. The barb king is a great asset for raiding, even at level 1.

1. Attack as much as possible.
2. Have an efficient army.(healers and giants work but aren't efficient)
3. Manage builders wisely.(buy all builders)
4. Max out everything before upgrading TH.(especially TH7)

One other thing, if I'm not using Wizards/Healers, what kind of combination would you recommend?

I recommend barbarian / archer rush and possibly some wbs thrown in to get deep into harder bases!

Simple barb/archer split with a handful of wallbreakers can work well.

But personally at TH7 I typically used a something like

10 giants
12 WB
60 archers
35 gobs
25 barbs

Gives you a good versatile army than can crack tougher bases if needed, or just do easy collector raids with your barb/arch/gobs when you find them.

a) Yes attack as much as you can during the day. Though when you go to sleep and let's say for example you sleep for 8 hours a night and you have a 10 hour shield, KEEP THE SHIELD

b) No, it isn't unless you want to burn down elixir. Here is the army I used at th7 and still works with me up at th8.

10 Giants
10 Wallbreakers
40 Archers
5 Minions
Rest Goblins

c) Get the drill as fast as you can since it ranks up free dark elixir. Barbarian King helps so much in raiding and defending, especially at high levels.

Don't skip to TH8 just for a drill if you're not maxed TH7.

1) Yes, you won't lose as much as you make if you are decent.
2) Healers aren't worth the time.
3) Don't rush to th8 for a drill, but if you maxed th7 and are th8 I did the drill as one of the first things, with the lab and mortar upgrade and walls (only had 3 builders free). The drill is very worthwhile, 1080 de a day at level 3.
