As I've upgraded walls I've noticed (i) tougher players attack me easy attackers pass me - so i loose defence cup winning opportunities (it takes longer to be attacked so people must be skipping me) and (ii) my cup losses seem bigger (do higher level wall bases offer more cups to attackers who win?) - As a defensive player at what level walls should you stop upgrading? Do high level wall bases offer more cups to attackers?

My base mostly offers over 30 cups for a win ... Is that cus I've had a high def win rate or blue walls offer more cups?
At what level should defensive players stop levelling walls - go to high and u scare off the easy attackers
I think wall is the most important thing in defensive mode, Why?
1. With high level wall, people to tend to by pass your village.
2. When good defensive building, like mortar, wizard tower, and air defense well placed inside high level wall, people will by pass your village too
3. For destroying high level wall, your enemy will need more wall breaker, this will reduced they attacking troop slot.
4. High level wall needed for both game mode, Farming or trophy hunting.
After all, i tend to upgrade wall, because higher level one look great and in good harmony with the TH 9 / 10 look.

The quality of your walls and defense doesn't change the amount of cups that can be taken of you.
what matters is the difference between you and the attacker on cups. If u have more or less the same cups it would be about 20-30 cups available ,if he has more cups than you, he could take around 13, and if you have more cups than him he could take a lot of cups from you. I once revenged someone that was much higher than me on cups at the time and i took him about 55 cups! On the other hand during a trophy push i got revenged by lower level cups guy ,my defense won, and i won 0 trophies
From a 100% reliable source (me) I can honestly joke, that walls do indeed increase the trophy loss.
Level 8 and below, no change.
Level 9 walls pose 0.001% increase on trophy loss a piece.
Level 10 walls 0.01% increase on trophy loss a piece.
Level 11 walls 0.05% a piece.
Luckily, there is a max cup loss penalty to prevent the bonus increasing too high.
Th7 and below, the max loss is 80%
Th8 it is 40%.
Th9 it is 20%
Th10 120% to balance out inferno towers.
Also, a little known fact (same source as before) is that buying gems in bundles increases also your trophy loss. The bigger the bundle, the more likely you will get higher up in trophies and lose more cups as you skipped learning the game. For example buying 30x99$ gem pack causes you to suck at the game 30% more than those, who looted equal amount of resources. And that isn't yet taking in factor your natural abilities to learn how things work.
