Do not expect much from customer support!

I have sold an old ipad a couple months ago and i was under the impression that i had deleted all the information from it
Now someone else is playing my th10 village that i have owned for almost 1 Year i have not shared my information with anyone so i can only assume that whoever purchased the ipad is now playing COC

According to my latest email received by a supercell customer support staff there is nothing they can do!?
If you sell your device and you lose your village for some reason there is nothing they can do to help.

Players are supposed to keep their devices until they quit the game !?!?

Every week we see accounts getting ♥♥♥♥d and villages getting stolen and although it is financial lucrative for supercell to have players starting all over again, it would be nice if once in a while supercell could think about their clients and write a few lines of code to avoid this and other problems from happening.

i know of at least two people whose account had been copied when buying cheap gems. They got a brand new account and an estimated amount of gems that they purchased. True story. Take it up with apple also. But you're likely f'ed

Supercell is responsible because you forgot to delete your gamecenter off your iPad? What the hell do you want them to do as well? Be your personal butler?

Buying cheap gems from someone other then SC- sorry but I don't understand why anyone would assume this would be safe to do- forgive me if I am not getting something you mean.

So sorry to hear this happened to you. When you say you were under the impression that your info had been deleted- you mean you'd done a system restore?- wiping the device clean and then setting it up as a "New Device"?

Contact the person who buyed the ipad, then factory reset it or make him quit playing your village.

They are correct - Apple doesn't let app developers remote into devices and remove files. This is my stock response to h@cking, but has good info on the game with the device. too.

Also - you don't want to know what other info the new owner has access to. Apple recommends you factory reset an iOS device before it changes owners - link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661

I know of NO-NONE-ZERO cases of anyone actually h@cking Apple's Gamecenter to get to a Clash of Clans village.

A few facts/misconceptions:

Supercell only supports one account per device. Apple considers an iOS device to be a single user device. If a village is authorized to it (either by starting a game, or loading it via gamecenter) it is permanently authorized to that device. The Gamecenter password is only needed the very first time you load the game. Once a device "Owns" the game, changing the Gamecenter password, logging out of gamecenter, even deleting the app doesn't remove your game from that device. If you sell or trade your iOS device, doing a factory reset is the only way to ensure the next user can not play your game. If you authorize your game to someone else's device, even a factory reset may not remove it, as they can do an iCloud or iTunes backup/restore of their device to include your village.

Gamecenter in relation to Clash of Clans is designed to attach YOUR village from YOUR device to allow you to move YOUR village to a new device YOU own. It is not an authentication method to log into and out of different devices, it's a transfer mechanism. You should never load your village onto a device you do not control. Once a village is loaded onto a device, it is permanently authorized and playable from there. Neither Apple, nor Supercell can remove a village from a device which was properly loaded at one point. It is not legally or technically possible. Once a device is authorized, the device can not be blocked or restricted.

Morale of the story is NEVER load your village on a device not owned/controlled by you, allow someone else to log onto your device with a different Gamecenter, or give out your Gamecenter account info to anyone.

So, knowing the above, 100% of the time folks claim to be h@cked, or someone is playing their game, it boils down to:

A) a family member plays on the iOS device without you knowing it
B) you gave your gamecenter password to a friend who used it to load your game
C) you gave your gamecenter password to one of those 3rd party gem sites
D) you logged onto a friends iOS device to play at one point, thinking logging out of gamecenter or deleting the app will prevent them from playing it (it doesn't)
E) you sold/traded/gave away an iOS device you had once played the game on without doing a factory reset and they still have access to your CoC village.
F) a friend logged in with a clean gamecenter answered the prompts and transferred your village to their GC, and loaded it on their device later

If it's your little brother playing, it's easy to solve, if it's an ex-best friend who can now play your game, there are not a lot of options.

I would be very interested to know what kind of reset you did.

There is alot of personal information on these devices and it always worth checking that cetain apps have not 'remembered' data.

I really want you to find me some good customer support ANYWHERE!!! it really does not exist

Wasnt trying to say it was safe, just was informing OP that Supercell does do things for people.... Assuming they spent enough money. Also, the cheap gem sites still show up as a regular purchase for supercell. It's apple that really gets screwed.

I only had 5 apps on my device and no private information was in it so i simply deleted the apps and log off game center and icloud.

I have not experienced problems with any of the other apps and Games.

My other games are linked to a GC account not a device it sounds a bit silly that you expect a mobile game to be stuck to only 1 device and i am pretty sure if other companies can write a few lines of code to avoid this issue Supercell with all the millions they make can pay someone to( in a few hours ) write something that will allow players to use a mobile platform on different IOS devices.

Everybody gets screwed with cheap gem sites. All purchases are made through Apple. Apple holds money going to developers and releases it to developers every week/2weeks/month, etc. With what SC makes a day, there are 10's of Millions sitting in escrow.

So.. someone pays the 3rd party site $69 to buy the $99 package. User gives the site $69 and their gamecenter creds, the site logs on, loads a stolen credit card number into the funding source, makes the $99 purchase, removes the credit card number, and tells the users they're all set. Apple gets their 30% of the $99, Supercell's 70% sits in escrow for a week or so, then gets deposited to them. User gets their gems - everything seems ok.

Then a month or two later, the owner of the credit card finds the charge. Banks are called, investigations started, credit card reverses charge to Apple. Apple takes the money out of Supercell's escrow or "Banked" funds, and... the user whose gamecenter account was used is now liable for the charge/use of a stolen credit card since the iTunes account terms of service specifically say so, so Apple will try to chargeback the iTunes account and hit whatever funding source the user now has added back. Apple gets a subpoena for account holder details - some countries will bring criminal charges to the account holder since they're responsible.

Trust me, everybody loses in the end with those sites.

That is in no way there fault. It's extremely simple and easy to connect to iTunes and do a factory reset, which is the obvious thing to do. Don't expect much pity from us if you don't know how to do that.

If you sold your device without a reset then I'm afriad its you who is in the wrong.

There is a reason there are rubbers on the end of pencils - people make mistakes - aknowledge them and learn from them.

Hope you can get it sorted.

Perhaps contact the person who you sold it to and try and get them to do a reset.

PJ, sadly this is really your own mistake and trying to get SC to help you out would be nice but really not up to them.

I see you say that you signed out of icloud, have you tried the "find my mac" app to see if you can still see that ipad? If so you can do a remote wipe. Im not 100% sure that this wipe would be enough but at this point its probably worth a shot.

In the ftuture when selling ANY electronic devices that contain ANY data, please use the factor reset option as that is one of the main reasons why ALL electronic devices that contain data have this option.

Also, im not sure if this will work, but have you tried to create a new GC and link your game to a new GC? Not really sure if that will help but just trying to give you ideas of things that you can try to see if you can get this resolved yourself.

1. install clash of clans
2. login to your gamecenter
3. start clash of clans via gamecenter
4. confirm after being asked if you want to load your village linked to that gamecenter ID
5. change gamecenter ID password

leave it at that or to go up another level of security

5.b.1) create a new gamecenter ID
2) start clash of clans
3) confirm after being asked if you want to load the current village to this new gamecenter ID

Next time, make a factory reset as Clash of Clans files are not entirely deleted after "deleting apps".

Let me know if that worked out.

Change your apple Id password. It automatically signs them out.

Yes, it logs them out of gamecenter, but gamecenter is not required to play the game, only load it ONCE to the device. Once the device has the game on it, the device owns it and you can continue to play locally.

There is nothing more we can do, support has already talked to the OP - please see my post back on page 1 to understand a bit more why you need to reset your device before you pass it on to someone else.
