Proposal To Supercell: Create A Player Council
Dear Supercell,
The recent unprecedented level of outrage over the December 2015 update demonstrates that you have been out of touch with a significant portion of your playerbase. Many of the adverse effects of this update were warned of by players in this forum before the update was even released. If these players had been able to interact with the development team to provide input during the planning stages of this update, the severity of these effects might have been mitigated and as a result, you might have avoided quite a bit of the player backlash.
Because I feel that player input is vital to the success of any game, I would like to propose that you create a Player Council. This would be a group of players chosen by you, representing a wide range of play styles (trophy pushing, warring, farming, casual, etc.). These players would sign an NDA and would participate in discussions, surveys, etc. related to future planned updates, before those updates reach pre-alpha stage.
Here is an example of a successful Player Council that was implemented for another game I've played called LOTR Online: https://www.lotro.com/en/game/articl...layers-council (Note to Mods: I am using this game as an example because it is a PC/MAC game that does not directly compete with any Supercell games since it is on a completely different platform, therefore it should not be in violation of Forum Rule #6). The developers of this game are clearly interested in actively communicating with their players and I think this is good example of how to build a good rapport with your playerbase, something I'm sure most CoC players feel has been severely lacking during this whole crisis.
I hope you will give serious consideration to creating a Player Council because I think it would go a long way towards repairing the damaged relationship with your players. I think it would be a win-win for both Supercell and players alike.
