Dead bases.. My strategy.
So I started Barching with a pre-update strategy that I used to use and it's been paying off well today. I dunno if I'm lucky or if there's a method to my madness, but here's how I find dead bases. While building a barch army I do my searching when I'm at about 170-180 army size. (240 max size) if I don't find anything in 5 searches I go back to town hall. Collect the extra troops and go again. I'm finding dead whales and very inactive boosted collectors at about 10-15 searches all day. I've been from crystal I to Gold II and it's been working great. I'm only boosting 2 barracks at a time so I'm not wasting boost with a full army while searching. Another thing, once my troops get to about 220 pop I only find active players. I'll take a dive by dumping troops at their storage and start the army's again. Lemme know if you guys have any success or if I should go play the powerball.
Barching has been working for me as well
I definitely haven't been finding bases as quick as you have but barching still seems to be the most effective method of gaining resources. From my experiences since the update there seems to be far more dead bases (inactive players) but it seems that many of them have been recently looted. Unfortunately as they usually don't get a shield anymore they stay in the rotation so you just have to spend a bit longer finding them. It also seems like that's pretty much the only way that I am getting hit as well.
I rarely play anymore as for me the fun was primarily from the social aspect of the game and now it seems like people are chatting less as they are spending so much time searching for a base to hit. I can appreciate what Supercell was trying to achieve both in terms of getting players to use bigger attacks and to design their bases to fend off attacks instead of just to get a shield. I can also appreciate that Supercell was trying to make it more difficult to max everything without purchasing gems as at the root of it they are a business. Unfortunately for a lot of us this has ruined what we enjoyed about the game. It would be interesting to know how it has affected the profits generated for Supercell. I think Supercell may have underestimated the value that the non gem buying farmers brought to the game and maybe didn't fully realize the effect these changes would have.
