3 stars and No Shield

I'm a new town hall 7 with a lot of defenses upgrading, so am an easy target. I was attacked twice in a row for 3 stars but didn't receive a shield because of the 30% troop deployment rule, I'm assuming. Does anyone know the calculation for TH7?

From reading the rules, it looks like space taken up by troops deployed divided by total possible space for troops (200), Heroes (25), Clan Castle (20) and Spells (6) for the town hall level who is defending. So, for TH7, I'm calculating at 251.

Does anyone know if this is the correct denominator for the calculation? I wasn't sure if they counted the clan castle or not. Based on the attacks against me, I think they must, because leaving out the clan castle, they deployed more than 30%, but including clan castle, they deployed less than 30%.

Bigger question I have is why they even base getting a shield off of % troops deployed? Are they just trying to discourage rushed bases? If so, I can understand that this would definitely discourage the practice, but would make it nearly impossible to recover from the situation as you could theoretically get attacked non-stop until you have zero resources available with never getting a shield.

This is my 2nd account that I use for experimentation, so I'm not very concerned about it, but still wonder the motivation behind the 30%.

The 30% is to avoid someone from putting 30% of their junk structures (lab, spell factories, huts, collectors, etc) outside and allow another person to snipe them with a queen and king.

Spells are not taken into account as far as I know so it's 200 + 20 + 25

I think the 30% troop rule has nothing to do with the attacker. It serves to motivate players into not building a lopsided base to get a shield due to the 30% destruction rule. Both aimed to distance themselves away from the easy th snipe shield as possiblle.

The problem is you're too rushed. No th 7 should be getting 3 starred without a shield being given and if you are then try maxing your base man.

As far as I heard this is the formula :

Full army: Maximum possible space of Army Camp, Heroes (weighted x25 space) and Spells of defender TH level

My question is : each spell capacity counts as 5 or 1? In eagle Artillery, each spell capacity count as 5.

My guess is that part of the reason they did this was to discourage defenseless bases. When you say that this account is experimental it makes me think no defenses (therefore ez to 3* you with very little troops).

Isnt it suppose to be 30% base damage and 1/3 of attackers troops used?

btw... 30% does not equal 1/3!

1/3 is 33.333% recurring...

I've got 3 defenseless accounts, DE upgrades are difficult but other offensive upgrades aren't that difficult until you hit TH9.

Yeah, nice catch on the math blow. I'm not totally defenseless but very low defenses with some of them upgrading. I likely won't take this base beyond th7 anyway and I've already researched dragon 2, so I don't have any concerns personally, I was just curious.

Agree about trying to prevent people from putting out 30% of their base as junk, but still seems like they could award a shield for a 3 star since entire base is destroyed.
