TH8 vs TH10 BROKEN Match Making right after matching against a TH11

The clan I am in wars constantly and has certainly seen a downturn in matchmaking quality since the update.

Current war as example:

Us;

2 th10s (both new, a few weeks old)
1 mid th9
5 mid-max th8s
2 th6

Them;

2 th11 (one max def, one new)
5 th9s ( varied development)
3 max th8s

We seem to have had a lot like this post update and whilst we fight on it's increasingly frustrating to fight wars that, short of the opponent being incompetent, are determined at matchup.

I'll just add that to the list of many such similar reports I've read on here...

How long does it take for you guys to get a match? I started a similar thread on the matchmaking system earlier this week. We had another terrible match up that just finished with another loss. It was suggested to me that I terminate the search after 3 to 4 minutes and started again. According to supercell, the search widens its net the longer it searches. This afternoon I started another search, and it took just about 1 1/2 minutes to complete. I also took my Townhall nine out of the mix; instead we went with for Townhall eights and six Townhall sevens. This yielded a match that is equal in town halls, although they are a level 4 clan to our level two (an acceptable difference) and their TH8 bases are further along than ours.

We are slightly outmatched, but actually stand a chance on this one. I attribute this to omitting the TH9 and the short search time on a day when there are likely many more clans starting wars (Friday).

Clan wars matchmaking is shockingly broken. We have 10v10 wars as soon as we they're over so one after another. Ever since day one we have been match with lvl 4+ clans. Right now we are getting beaten by 4 stars against a lvl 6 clan, and we just turned lvl 2 after our last war.

I think that if clan level was a part of war search along with TH lvls in war and those 2 only, the system would be WAY less broken then it is ATM. Of course better ways are available but even for a start it would be fine

I did the war search 2 days ago. 3 times I waited 10 minutes then reset the search since I've read here a lot of speculation that the acceptable match criteria expands over time. After the 3rd reset, I had to just walk away because there was other stuff happening. It took another 20 minutes. So total 50 minutes including 3 resets.

The last 4 of 5 wars have been horribly mismatched. Every time we search, I can't help but think "surely we will be on the right side of the mismatch this time". It's not happening though. Specifically, the TH11 advantage for the other clan is biggest factor.

and..... this is what u get when you keep trying to code for oddball scenarios.. typical programming scenario:

- original code is simplistic easy, and clear
- matching is not perfect, but they are within reason.
- people begin to exploit .5 and defenseless
- code slowly gets convoluted and confusing trying to handle such scenarios, and unexpected scenarios start to fall under these oddball scenarios

with time, the code starts to look like spaghetti code, where the original developers no longer work there and new devs taking over the code fear it with their lives as they struggle to follow the logic. changes continue to be made as business must continue. and that's what it seems like we are now with matchmaking. i don't even think SC devs can tell you exactly how it matches anymore.

unless .5 or defenseless truly became a real problem... there was no reason to code for such odd scenarios. once a blue moon u see a forum post complain about it... but truth is they should put more resources battling the never ending war with the bunnies.

^^^Amen, fo' sho'. Super accurate. Even if they (secs) get together once every 10 days to talk about it for an hour or two, it could be straightened out with many quick maintenance breaks. That's my idea of how it could work.

Maybe if they split up one day a week to problem solve these things and have individual teams with assignments for everything it could help. But what do I know; I'm not SC and I don't know enough about code yet to say that for the most part.

What I want to know is why this guy created a thread identical to the one he made 2 days ago?

Easy solution to that:

If offense war weight exceeds defense war weight by a certain amount, defense war weight = offense war weight, total war weight is 2x offense rather than high offense + low defense. Problem solved, no spaghetti code.

Assuming offense and defense war weights are equal, just multiply by the ratio to equalize it
