Hello, SinOfDusk here. Since my old TH9 rushing guide is outdated and I was still a newbie when writing that guide, I've decided to rewrite a new guide to help new players rush to TH9 comfortably and maximise their progress speed so that players who max at TH8 will have a hard time catching up to your progress when they finally max TH9

(I) Misconceptions
1) Your weak defenses are going to get smashed
Counter: No matter how maxed you are in TH8, you cannot stop a TH9 attack, only bad TH9s. No matter how maxed you were in TH8, as a new TH9, you'll be smashed regardless. Another point is, strong bases attract strong attackers, weak bases attract relatively weaker attackers.

2) You'll progress slower by rushing
Counter: As long as you keep all builders busy all the time, you're going to reach maxed regardless of time. But a maxer would stay in TH8 for a longer time, have idle builders; while the rusher will not have this problem provided you farm enough

3) Since it takes the exact same amount of time to upgrade, you gain no time by rushing
Counter: A maxer will stay in TH8 for longer time and eventually have idle builders while working on lab. The maxer is also more likely to have idle builders towards the end of TH9

4) Loot penalty
Counter: If you're farming correctly, TH9 gains more loot per hour than TH8 and TH10 gains more loot per hour than TH9. Only TH11 so far suffers from any form of loot penalty

5) Weak in wars
Counter: Doing it correctly, you'll always perform better in wars. You, as a rusher, will meet with premmie TH9s or maxed TH8s. Both easy enough to demolish. A properly rushed TH9 can hit way up and take out a maxed TH9 with almost the same ease of a maxed TH9

6) A rusher needs to catch up, a maxer does not
Counter: Yes, a maxer will be in a better spot on day one of TH9. But by the time that has happened, a rusher would have been a 2-3 month old TH9. So who is better? New TH9 with 200 camp spaces, TH8 maxed troops, 10/0 royals, maxed skulls; or a rushed TH9 with 220 spaces, lvl 6 farming troops and TH9 war troops, 15/15 royals, half legos.

Now, the maxer has to catch up to loss progress

(II) Advantages:
1) Much better offense, much earlier
You get to farm faster than a maxed TH8, utilise wasted elixir and gain AQ levels earlier

2) Balanced builder and lab times
TH8 has longer lab time, TH9 has longer builder time. Combine them both and you won't have too much idle time. TH8 lab is 4.5 months, builders (5 buildes) are 3.5 months. TH9 builder time in total (add both heroes) is 6-7 months, lab is 6 months.

3) Resource management
As a TH8, you're self inflicting a 50% loot penalty, since all elixir is wasted. If you plan to max lab, your collectors would have gathered enough so that you need not raid to max TH8

By utilising wasted elixir, you can max all TH9 offenses and gain a few troops levels instead of wasting it. A TH9 can also dump gold, elixir and DE into walls and heroes so that they do not offer loot for any TH10 attacker

4) Dark Elxiir
DE is the resource which significantly increases when you go up in TH. 60k DE for golems might be tough for a TH8, but is a breeze for any TH9, with additional troops, spell, troop levels and AQ.

5) Everyone is forced to defend
With the removal of sniping, maxed and rushed accounts alike are getting clobbered. Yes, a maxed account only loses 3/5 of their loot, hurray! A rushed base can only maximum lose 4 or 5 out of 5 storages, not much difference if you compare the effort of maxing defenses

(III) Rationale
What is a rusher here?
A rusher is a player who moves up in TH, before maxing out every structure in their base.

Indication for rushing! If you already maxed your walls before finishing everything else, go upgrade your TH now before reading on.
Reason: To farm that much that you max walls, you're at least doing 2million gold per day. Once you maxed walls, you will not have any reason to farm that much and it drops to maximum 600k per day. That's a loss of 1.4mill gold per day, enough to do many things if you rushed your TH. No amount of being raided or loot penalty can compare to this amount of lost loot. If it comforts you, this is the main reason why I rushed

How does rushing make you progress faster?
Imagine a bug, it grows by steps. Every time it is ready, it shed an exoskeleton and grows in size. A human grows very differently, which grows continually until maturity. A maxer grows like a bug, you grow in a TH, max it then move on and become bigger. A rusher smoothens the curve and allows you to progress at the optimal rate.

Since TH8 has longer lab time and has a huge gold vs elixir disparity, you're wasting builder time and elixir on things you can spend in TH9. A rusher does not speed up any upgrades, but reshuffles it into a coherent pathway. Instead of doing BK to lvl 10 and have him stuck there for the entirety of TH8, you allow yourself to get him a partner and upgrade her as well. And you can increase them further even before a TH8 maxer reaches TH9

Let's take an example, player A and player B. They're maxed TH7s, moving on to TH8. Player A decides to rush to TH9 after spending 1.5 months after reading this guide, player B scoffs at his friend and continues to max.

3 months later,
Player A: 220 camp space, lvl 9 AT, cannons, maxed TH8 defenses otherwise + lvl 2 xbows, maxed all TH9 elixir buildings, maxed lvl 6 gibarch, maxed TH9 laloon, 1/2-full skulls, 15/15 royals
Player B: 200 camp space, maxed TH8 defenses, maxed TH8 elixir buildings, maxed TH8 troops, full skulls, 10/0 royals

See the vast difference in player strength? This is because Player B wasted a ton of elixir and 1.5 months to max TH8 skulls and lab. While B is doing valks lvl 2, EQ lvl 2; A is doing giants lvl 6, arch lvl 6. Its not necessarily speeding up, but reshuffling an optimal upgrade path

Note: A rusher is required to farm more and be active. Raiding in sessions and proper shield management are mandatory. I do not recommend this path unless you can farm at least 2 hours straight per day, the more the better

(IV) Types of rushing
This guide is mainly speaking about strategic rushing (aka min-maxing, minimax)
This is knowingly upgrading to the next TH, so that you can improve upon your offensive capabilities in the game.

Other types:
Premmie: a clueless player who upgrades TH just for fun and hard to recover

Optimiser: A type of strategic rushing. The player only upgrades to new TH upon reaching a bottleneck. In TH8 case, when they overflow elixir or finish all builder upgrades

If anyone has any other types of rushing, please feel free to share

(V) TH8 Journey
Here, I assume you begin with having maxed all TH7 buildings, all TH7 elixir troops (assume lvl 1 minions and hogs) and have at least maxed lvl 6 walls.

Recommended stay: 15 days to 1.5 months
For the fastest route, you can upgrade your TH as soon as TH8 lab completes. Do barch, then do balloons lvl 5 right before upgrading lab. I do not recommend this route unless this is your second account and you want to reach TH9 asap.

For TH8, begin by building and upgrading every single elixir based upgrade. Do it in this order: Offense > Resources > Defense. Remember this order, you will follow it till the end of your clashing journey. So work on CC, lab, drills, new storages, barracks, dark barracks and dark spell factory. Then, all collectors before defenses. At that point, just place 2 collectors perpetually for collectors and 3 other builders on defenses.

First upgrades should be CC, lab, Dark Rax, DSF, Dark storage. Try to keep your BK down all the time from the beginning. If your designated time frame for TH8, try to max him out. But no shame if you cannot manage, I personally only had lvl 8 when I upgraded. Defensive suggestions are: Wizard towers + mortar/AD. Mortar for farming, AD for war.

Your entire TH8 journey should be dictated by your lab upgrades. Just make sure to max all offense related structures, all storages to max, everything else is optional building-wise.

Must max structures: lab, dark spell factory, dark storage, dark elixir drill, all storages, cc
Good to max: barracks (more for 75 space than pekkas), wizard tower, bk
Optional: mortar or AD, all collectors
Skipped: all other defenses

Lab troops: (importance by tier)
Tier 1 (compulsory) - barb, arch, loon
Tier 2 (recommended) - giants, wb, wiz, goblins/minions
Tier 3 (good to have) - hogs, healer, golem, valk (these upgrades are too costly or too long for you to feel any benefit, healer is not really required until you get a decent queen level)
Tier 4 (useless) - dragon, pekka (you won't stay in TH8 long enough to benefit from dragon, pekka is useless almost throughout the game)

Once you decided what to have, for example we'll say you chose all tier 1 and 2 units (you chose goblins). They're a total of 35 days. After you finished TH8 lab upgrade, start doing them all. When you completed the first 4, upgrade your TH. TH takes 10 days to upgrade and you will be able to finish 2 more upgrades. The final TH8 lab upgrade is done right before you upgrade the lab during TH9. Yes, your troop upgrade continues per normal while upgrading lab.

I highly recommend both tiers 1 & 2 for a new rusher. If this is your second account, you should know what you want and plan accordingly.

35 days is also enough for you to complete all the must have buildings in TH8

(VI) TH9 Journey
Now, you're a TH9, do you know what order to build things? Offense > Resources > Defense

Before coming to th9, I urge you to save up at least 5mil gold, 4mil elixir and 40k de, the more the better. Immediately as a new TH9, do lab, sf, cc, AQ and some new structures + walls.

(VIa) Early th9
For war, skip xbows and follow any th8.5 path you like. For farming, place xbows after 1-2 weeks in th9, because you simply don't have enough builder time to dedicate. Your defenses are already weak, adding 100 dps wont change anything, but do add the new archer tower, wizard tower, tesla, air defense and sweeper. The other defenses are cheap and short, they would provide decent coverage for a cheaper cosr and faster time.

Don't tie up your builders in the beginning, while it's tempting to do 5 good upgrades immediately, it'll leave you with no free builder of the first few days of th9. For then beginning, do lab, sf and try to squeeze dsf immediately, better do it to unlock haste early on than wait it out. Other offensive structures come in the importance of: camps > drills > dark barracks. Do as many camps as you can to finish them right off the bat after lab and sf. After that, keep 1 builder on drills (2 if you farm fast) and another on dark barracks to unlock hounds ASAP. Once you're towards the end of this schedule, do your xbows as a farmer. If you take wars seriously, you'll need to ask an expert or judge from your current matchups whether to drop xbows now or later, as war MM is fickle and constantly changes.

While doing all elixir upgrades, try to farm for aq as well, get lvl5 to unlock her ability. As a th9 rusher, your advantage is that you only need to permanently keep one hero down to max both at a reasonable time. Try to use her to farm de if you cannot get enough in the beginning. De sure is tough without lvl6 troops. Dump all excess gold into walls

Farming comp: 8 Giants, 8 wb, cc bring 5 lvl7 Giants, rest barch, 2-3 heal, 1 rage
Target: 200/200 collector raids or 1k de from th8s
Trophy: G3-C1

Remember, you will get hit hard from defense, the key here is to farm more than you can lose. Farm in sessions so you will for sure profit everytime before you log off. Farming in sessions means that you farm without turning off your device, since you cannot be attacked when you're still online. Try loot dumping, since you're farming so much elixir initially and not much gold can be used, dump your excess gold into making your walls skulls. Even while you're rushed, not many people will hit you when you have nothing to offer. Even when people do hit you, you have nothing to lose

Shield management: after you're hit, you receive a 12-16 hour shield, then a half hour guard. You can actually squeeze 3-4 attacks under shield then one more after guard. That means 4-5 free attacks that you can do while not connected. After your guard is up, I recommend another 3 raids done consecutively without logging out. That means for every defense, you're doing 7-8 attacks, you cannot lose more than 350/350/2.5k per defense, so you will be able to progress. Rest assured that this process of getting smashed cannot be skipped even if you maxed th8, because maxed th8 is weak.

As for troops, I recommend giants and loons as first 2 upgrades, either one first then do the other. They're immensely powerful and separates a rushed TH9 from a completely maxed TH8. After that, for farming just do barch and/or minions. For war, do hounds, then rage, golem, hogs.

Goals:
Finish all elixir based upgrades, get AQ as high level as possible (try 10, minimum 5), complete first 2-3 TH9 troop upgrades, max all new storages too

(VIb) Mid th9
I consider you as mid rushed th9 when you finally run out of any elixir upgrades. So that means maxed camps, lab, sf, dsf, drills, de storage and dark barracks. Try to max out barracks too if you haven't done so as a TH8. After this, keep 2 builders on collectors, 2 on heroes and 1 for walls. Try to focus primarily on DE only until all collectors are maxed. This would take a good 5 weeks or so but would shoot both heroes to 15/15 easily. Now look at yourself and a maxed TH8, who has a stronger base?

Collectors would help you as you collect resources for walls. Defenses protect gained loot, while collectors generate loot from thin air, in net terms they do the exact same thing. Considering someone with lvl 8 collectors, you generate only 1.9k elixir per hour, compared to 3.5k from maxed collectors. That's 1.6k lost loot from a single collectors times 6 then times 24, that's a whopping 230k elixir and gold lost per day, just because you didn't do collectors. That's either one good raid or can make up one defense per day. Considering your rushed status, it would not be wise to spend 8-10 weeks working on defenses, spending millions of gold just to get marginal effects. In contrast, collectors produce a decent amount per day, take much less resources and far less time to make up that defensive loss.

Since I do not know what is the status of your collectors prior to this, this process can take 0 time at all to almost 6 weeks. If you had maxed collectors prior to this, just skip along to the final part of the TH9 guide and continue from there. If you had not maxed collectors, just stay at this phase as long as you need to, working on cheap collectors, dumping excess gold/elixir and focusing to get your heroes up. For lab-
Farming: barch > minions > heal > rage > healer > anything
Its quite flexible for farmers, just upgrade whatever you think would help you most. I strongly advise to look up super queen and consider upgrading healer early if you really like it. Heals are good for giants, because the spell makes them immortal while under TH9 fire

War: Hounds > rage > (lightning) > golem > hogs > witches
I highly recommend learning laloon early on because you're rushed status in war means you'll be drawing TH8s who would be easy walkovers with laloon. Up till mid TH9, laloon is an incredibly easy strategy to demolish bases without much thought and does not require heroes. I recommend lightning here if you like zapquake laloon (youtube it), but it can be skipped if you like to work on other ground strategies

Farming DE:
Look up on guides on this forum, many experienced players would love to teach you how it is done. I'll stick to my favorite way, gibarch:
Comp: 12 giants, 12 wb, cc 6 giants, 28 barbs, 88 arch, 10 minions, 2 heal, 2 rage, poison
Target: 250/250 collectors or minimum 1k easy DE from TH8s, 1.6k DE from maxed TH8 + centered, 2k DE from TH9s

This comp can easily tear up any TH8 you find without heroes and grab the juicy DE. Yet it is flexible enough to hit collector raids you may find, just don't use all giants when doing collector raids. Avoid TH9s unless they're weak, bad design or you have a hero (you shouldn't have a hero, to be strict).


(VIc) Final part of TH9
By this stage, you're a TH9 with maxed offensive stuctures, collectors, decent walls (skulls to legos) and hopefully 15-20 royals. See how far you've gone, and a TH8 maxer would now still be maxing their golem 60k upgrade, complaining its price and how hard it is to save up for it. Your HH should be twice of a similar TH8 maxer just because you had higher requirements. Remember the adage? Offense > resources > defenses, this is the final journey of your TH9, though its longer comparatively to the prior 2 parts.

Farming defenses:
Still keep 1 builder for a hero, but now you get to use your other non-upgrading hero. Bring both heroes, 1 by 1 to lvl 20. Now, you have 4 builders left, try to time it such that they come free every 2 days so that you do not overflow with loot.

I highly recommend: 1 builder on WT, 2 on teslas and 1 on mortars. If you're constantly overflowing with loot, you may keep a builder free for walls, so you don't need to keep a strict builder schedule. AD and AS after WT, AT after mortars. Once you maxed AD, AS, teslas, WT, mortars and have at least lvl 2 xbows. See your walls and heroes, half lavas and 20-25 heroes is a good indicator to rush to TH10 ASAP, especially for farmers. If you like it and farm fast, be sure to max lavas. If you do not farm fast at all, you may completely skip lava walls and work entirely on heroes and defenses.

War defenses:
If you really love to war, you can now either grit your teeth and farm hard for heroes and sit out wars, or you can slack for a while and just war for fun. There's no real set path for warring, but I can tell you that maxed heroes are paramount compared to anything else.

Builders: 1 on WT, 2 on teslas, 1 on AD. Lvl 7 AD are important to prevent laloon strategies and you as realise. Your own attack may tend to fizzle out especially against lvl7 ADs, lvl 7 teslas. Try to max GBs somewhere in between as they do really help in stopping hog attacks. Max xbows anytime you wish now, since you have decent heroes to help you out

(VId) Closing
There's no real set end to the TH9 grind for a rusher. You can opt to rush to TH10 or completely max TH9 and anything in between. But once you read the TH10 rushing guide, I hope you can make an informed decision on which path to take. Neither is better as it all depends on your goals in game, but I can tell you (with bias) that rushing to TH10 is almost always the superior choice

(VII) War considerations

I highly recommend rushers in the early to mid stages to adapt laloon-based strategies, because they are not that hero dependant and easier to pick up, requiring less troops maxed to reach full potential.

You basically only need: hounds lvl 2, loons lvl 6, rage lvl 5 and you're all set. There are a lot of youtube videos on the strategy, so just look up any famous youtuber you like.

The strategies I like to use are: penta, cb golaloon and MAX attack.

Though its far harder to rush when you're warring, especially since you need to juggle farming raids and war raids; farming for DE, upgrading heroes and war timings.

If you do need help in this department and your clan is not conducive for rushing, you may join 40sand9s, my clan for my alt character or Rushed Ones, which has other mentors for rushing.

1st act TH10 (since 1 day) rusher 15/15 royals. No trouble for find elixir barching in G2-1 some great dead bases (ok i'm playing a lot 8H+ per day). 2 camps and laboratory done the first day there is loot if you search a lot lol. Also overflowing in DE and gold

As someone who will hit TH8 with 98% maxed TH7, I want to thank you for a well timed article! I did read the older one as well and will rush TH8 to TH9 for sure, should be more than fine with being able to raid a good amount of resources each day.

i didnt understand your thread :)lol but good job writing and i am confused whether you are advicing to rush or not to rush or what are saying and how will i rush ????? i didnt understand anything..sorry....but can you explain again in easy words...

Probably not if you strictly farm.

Though Loonian and LaLoon are both very good pushing strategies and Loonian is solid DE farming strat.

I think loons are still good to have, especially for logout armies. Trust me, loons are immensely strong and I won't recommend to skip them unless it's your second account and you've experienced using them

I have been a th8 for about a month now ,at first I was thinking of maxing out like I did at th7 but I find th8 pretty boring and really want to reach th9 fast

Currently almost all my elixir upgrades and offense related stuff are done except for one barrack
My defenses are all at th7 level
2 level 6 AD ,3 level 4 Teslas
BK at 10
All purple walls and about 20 skulls


I was mostly focusing on war so the only troops at th8 level are dragons,wizard,lightning spell,pekka at 2 and golem going 2 atm

Planning on doing loons next ,barch and giants

Should I do hogs now ? Since I read that ppl do GoHo at early th9

and should I continue doing teslas or do splash or collectors ?

My main question is if I should focus on upgrading walls or not. If no, then I can probably move to TH9 in the next two weeks, got one more tesla to get to lvl 6 and then 3 more AT's to lvl 10 and BK to 10. So should I move on?

Work on ad and wt, probably need 2 builders for wt. Hogs are decent troops, many people swear by them. I personally do not like them too much. Laloon is good enough for most players and have far less reliance on heroes

Ah, thanks for pointing out walls. I recommend full purple and around 50 skulls if possible. Otherwise full purple is enough, this is because you're farming a ton of elixir for beginning th9, all gold will be dumped into skulls. During mid th9, you'll also have enough gold to finish skulls while doing legos

ok thanks for the help. I heard that you were accepting rushers into your clan, and I'm going to be a th9 in 7 days. I have 180 skulls, lvl9 barb king(upgrading him tomorrow when a builder is free), I currently have wizards being researched, then loons then rage(whilst lab is upgrading). All of my defenses are th7 level, because I've been trying to max collectors. Do you think i would be able to join?

As for troops i hav lvl 5 king ,about 60k DE .. wondering if i should get golem lvl 2 or just go th9 nd buy queen nd get golem later.. as lvl 2 gol just has 300 hp more.. which is like 5 hits from a lvl 10 cannon...

Yep, the whole point of the guide is to tell you that you can move to th9 before maxing th8. For now, if your lab might get idle due to not doing golems, do golems. One level of golem might not look like much, but you need them before starting lvl3,4 which are significantly stronger

now might be a good idea to farm hard for bk lvl10 though. Do 2 levels, then start upgrading your th. For war, it might be better if you had done wt, ad and teslas instead of the other 3

It seems to me that you list all pros about rushing... and I can hardly believe that there aren't any cons... there's a reason why rushers are looked down upon, so please inform me why you think it is so good.

1. How is skipping TH8 (arguably the first TH where killsquads are used) good for the development of the players attacking skills? Wouldn't they be thrown into TH9 with less knowledge of attacking and probably fail as much as they would as a max TH8?

2. Couldn't you deal with the so called "wasted elixir" by farming walls early, and upgrading your defenses and troops later?

3. What do you have to say to people who max TH8 and then push trophies to champions?

4. If you mainly do wars, but you want to focus on your queen, would you have to sub out of wars as a rusher, but not as a max TH8?

While TH8 can technically learn other skills, so many people waste their time learning how to dragon properly that they feel lost in TH9. You learn TH9 strategies better as a TH9, since you have access to jump, AQ and hounds.

Regardless of the order, you'll waste elixir in the beginning or the end. TH8 requires 230mil gold and only 90mil elixir, this huge disparity can never be overcome. Mass donating troops to burn elixir, ignoring elixir rich bases and just letting it overflow are all forms of elixir wastage too

3. What do you have to say to people who max TH8 and then push trophies to champions?
For what purpose? A TH9/10 can reach champs with a quarter of the effort a TH8 requires

4. If you mainly do wars, but you want to focus on your queen, would you have to sub out of wars as a rusher, but not as a max TH8?
If you max TH8, you'll go to TH9 and face new TH9s as well. If you rush to TH9, you'll face premmies or other TH8s mostly. A rusher can then learn how to penta laloon, which would serve well for at least half the entire TH9 time while they upgrade heroes. When heroes are decently leveled, all other strategies become unlocked and they can finally use kill squads

5. Is there really a "best play style"?
There is no best playstyle, but you can tailor your playstyle to suit your goals. For most players, rushing would actually help you reach your goal faster

6. Why is maxing TH8 bad other than so-called "wasted elixir"
You're wasting 2months of builder time by maxing TH8. TH8 has 3 months builders and 5 months lab. TH9 has 6 months lab and >8 months builders (if you strive 30/30 heroes). Putting them both together allows you to minimise wastage

Another thing is that a maxer completes TH9 defenses in 5-6 months with 3 builders, this means you have to perpetually keep both heroes upgrading to keep up with defenses or you'll reach a point where you have idle builders and no maxed heroes. A rusher on the other hand would complete TH9 in 8 months with 4 builders, so you only have to keep one hero upgrading perpetually to max heroes before defenses, a much easier task. A rusher can also complete heroes faster if he farms as much as the maxer and do both heroes at once, while sacrificing defensive upgrades

7. Wouldn't low TH9s that you match up with do the same thing in war? What makes you say that you always can 3 star just because of new troops and troop levels?
Lvl 2 hounds and lvl 6 loons can wreck almost all TH9s with 6666 AD without the need of a killsquad. If you rush, you are more likely to meet TH9s like these because you weigh defensively lower

Have you experienced TH9? Because a TH9 does not need to sacrifice any other resource when getting 15/15 heroes. The DE requirement is minuscule when you think of the income a TH9 can get (5-7k per hr as a TH9 is considered below average, while a TH8 can hardly get >3k unless they're experienced)

People think its an extra challenge, that's why I pride myself as a rusher, even though my defenses are nearly maxed TH11. But in reality, rushers progress far faster than maxers would ever do with the same amount of effort

I've seen maxed TH8 turn into maxed TH9 within 6 months, but those cases are rare and they put in much more effort than a corresponding rusher and yet still waste time and elixir in TH8

So I should upgrade now? I've got 40000 DE saved towards the 60 I need for the Golem upgrade. Should I just do Minions to level 4 and save for the AQ while TH upgrades?

Hi Sin. Been awhile man. Just want to clarify that optimising is not rushing but strategic planning on what you need built and ready for you to move up. Did that when I was an 8. Max walls, def , traps and elix upgrade but my hero was only 8 and the only de troop upgraded was minion since i use bam to farm. When I hit 9 built both my xbows and aq right away and defended my loot even from max 9s. When I moved up to TH 10 10 days ago, I was a max 9 except royals (both at 25) in Champs 1. Built simultaneously both my infernos and upgraded my lab and spell factory. I got rekt daily by max 10s and 11s in Champs 1 but I camped in Champs 2 until my infernos were built and I was never rekt again even by max 11s. When my lab was finished I upgraded my golem to 5 right away. I survived by 2 starring 10s with goviz with 9 troops and 220 troop space for the league and daily bonus but now I've dropped to Champs 3 where I do not get attacked by max 10s or 11s. If I rushed, I would never have been able to not only survive in Champs but thrive since all my 5 builders are busy doing new upgrades.

High level defense and walls work. When I had my baby infernos up, a maxed penta golem gowipe with 40/40/12 heroes only 2 starred me for 78% and I saved 1 gold and 1 elix storage. Try surviving max attacks with weak walls and def in champs 1-2. Max 10s and 11s from titan and champs will eat you up.

Rushing works well if you plan to attack alot, spend your days in silver and bronze league raiding dead bases and you know what to build but optimising allows me to attack 4-5 times a day and get the same loot at less effort plus the one hr guard is a great bonus on top of league and daily bonus.

Unfortunately, not maxing is rushing in this forums, that's why I call it rushing even though I'm optimising/strategic rushing/min-maxing.

While you said in defense is true, a rusher cannot defend. But as you experienced it yourself, as a maxed TH9, you cannot defend too when you moved up to TH10. This just reinforces my statement that maxing nor rushing helps you in defense. While you can argue that you can maintain in higher leagues, but the best loot in the game is in silver for milking or G1 for TH9 or C2 for TH10, nowhere high enough to be wrecked constantly. Even maxers get wrecked constantly, and they aren't defending as much too. My rushed TH9s lose 3 storages + TH on average, while my mid TH9 is losing 2 storages + TH, which is a mere 70k difference in loot loss. For that 70k loot loss per defense, how much time and gold has the maxer wasted in building defensive structures?

Look at your second paragraph, if my rushed account was the victim, I'll lose 320k/320k/2k, while you lost 250k/250k/2k. How much time and gold have you spend in your defenses? For that amount of time and gold, you saved a mere 64k gold and elixir. 4 defenses per day and we're still only at a 260k difference, which is like half an attack in Ch2.

My rushed accounts (TH9) are doing decently even with 4-6 barch attacks per day. This highlights another major flaw in the game design, you earn no more than twice a raid with an army of 3-10 times longer cook time. My main in Ch2 is getting around 300k+225k per attack with 110 cook time. My alt in C3 is getting 200k+25k per attack with 18 minute cook time. Who is getting better loot? And due to the short cook times and session farming, my alt is only hit 3 times per day; while my main is getting hit 4-5 times per day, losing almost the same proportion per raid as my rushed accounts (60-80% loot from total offer) with nearly maxed TH11 defenses

You may get more loot and have faster cook times, but someone who maxed has already scored that loot and completed the tasks the loot is needed for.... :smirk:

In the end, it all balances out. Strategic rushers progress better than maxers because they have more opportunities to spend what they raid; in other words, their resource utilization is more efficient. Done right, maxing offense first, they also become more capable attackers, more quickly than the typical maxer as well. This, of course, translates to more loot, more quickly, because of the stronger offense.

Interesting side note - higher townhalls lose a lesser percentage of their stored resources than their lower counterparts, plus it is distributed across more storages. I realize it;s not always a lot, but this can work in the rusher's favor as well.

It's funny how many players on the forum are so adamant about maxing before upgrading. I mean, sure, if you don't rush in a smart/strategic fashion you will be a liability in clan wars, but the exact opposite is true too.

IMHO calling optimising "rushing" is misleading. As per getting rekt by max 10s and 11s, that was when I was a 9.5 and I was now seen by the big boys. As a 9 I admit to getting rekt thrice by max attacks by 40/40 th 10 raids but when I got my infernos as a baby 10 the hurting stopped. Max gowipes, gibarch, mass dragloon zapquakes by max 10s and 11s could only 2 star me. Lavas, max 9 def and infernos prevented the wipe. If I only had skulls, max 8 def and infernos I would get wiped. Everyone knows that the first few weeks of a 10 are the worst but I survived and thrived because of max def. Sure I got raped loot wise but because of loot , league and daily bonus in champs anything I lost I earned back in 1-2 raids. Plus how many new 10s do you know can go head to head with mid to max 10s and win with 9 troops? They could if they were maxed. Sure loot is plenty in silver but thats easy. Here in champs loot is pretty much the same but you get better in attacking faster.I'm not saying rushing doesn't work but a rusher even if he had a 2-3 month headstart will still not be that far ahead skill wise. Sure you might have the troops and heroes but could you wipe a player who optimised if your attacking strat is gibarch? I have a quick question to ask, my th8 has everything but dragon/pekka, healing and rage, most of the de troops, and dark spells upgraded to max th8 level. I have every wall at least level 7 and 2 pekka barracks. I haven't upgraded my DSF yet but I'm going to. Do you think I should rush to th9?

Herein lies the biggest lie of maxing, the myth that "work I do today, is less work for me tomorrow"

It is as if each TH is a day and whenever you upgrade, its a new day. That's very wrong, we'll use days to illustrate why. Let's say TH8 is a day and TH9 is 2 days, when you rush to TH9, you spend half a day in TH8 and 2.5 days in TH9. Maxers think that if you rush, you lose that half a day, which is absurd.

A TH8 maxer needs to farm (I did this calculation way back long ago, might forget stuff) 1.6mil gold per day, 0 elixir per day (all covered by pumps) and 1k DE per day over a period of 4.5 months to max TH8. A rusher (in my regime) needs 2.5mil gold, 1.4mil elixir and 2.3k DE per day over a period of 5 weeks in TH8. It seems that it is tougher for a rusher to progress here, but we'll see what happens in TH9

A TH9 who maxed TH8 would now need to farm 3.7mil gold, 3.7mil elixir and 16k DE per day on average over a period of 6 months. If he cannot do that, he'll reach a point where walls and heroes aren't maxed while defenses are and he'll have idle builders and lab. A TH9 who rushed TH8 would need 2.5mil gold, 2.5mil elixir and 9k DE per day on average over a period of 9 months to catch up and max everything. Suddenly, it is much easier for a rusher, this is because a rusher spends a longer time and can spread the load over a longer period of time to do stuff. In total, the maxer spends minimum 10.5months and 6 of those months are heavy farming; a rusher spends 10 months too and farms almost the same amount throughout the entire duration.

Furthermore, the rusher gets to use one hero throughout the entire TH9, upgrading the other. The maxer must keep both heroes down almost forever and never gets to use them until 30/30

Yes, rushers get better loot earlier because loot penalty is a lie. In the end, its all about loot gain and loot per hr, not the inherent loot penalty. TH10s can definitely farm >1mil gold per hr, and get some great DE in the process, while lower THs can match that gold easily, they'll definitely struggle to farm that DE. This is why I laugh at maxers who adamantly max heroes in TH9, because it takes half the effort to do in TH10

Yes, that's true. I've actually used that argument a few times now. However, with the reduction of loot to reach loot cap, it is harder to justify now.

Yep, this forum is full of adamant maxers who bash at us rushers at all opportunities. Which is why this guide is to reduce the chances of people doing badly while rushing so that maxers understand that rushing works. Other similar games like this, maxing is stupid and inefficient. This is the first game I've encountered that maxing is chorused by nearly 90% of the players

There is nothing wrong with rushing with a plan as long as you know the potential pitfalls.

Rushing just cuz you want the next TH without any real farming or war troops to support the jump is what's bad.

Also, folks who play more casually are generally better off maxing and folks who play very actively are better candidates to rush ahead.

At least that's my view but I could be wrong.

Loot in champs definitely isn't as good as crystal, not even half as good. Please, do show a replay of 7 spell capacity bringing down a mid-maxed TH10, I'm a TH11 with maxed warden and I'll say its a stretch if I do it so easily. And I bet you boost heroes to do that. A 40min cook time army getting 320k per raid+225k? If you barch in C2, you can get 250k+55k in 20min. Sounds almost the same, except that you used heavy troops and spells, heroes.

Skill is another relative thing. As a rusher, I've become a very competent attacker myself. The sad thing is that analysing, pathing, predicting are all almost pointless as a TH11. Because queen walk gowiwi is surefire and doesn't really require pathing when I bust in with 4 eq, 1-2 jumps. Probably that's why I regularly score 70-80% 2 stars in war

Sorry for the paragraphs. I'm on mobile device lately so its kinda hard to layout my replies. I will make it brief man:

-For farming in Champs 3, Valkyrie Tornado is not a "heavy" farming army and I'm only using 5 valks so de use is minimal. I was in a push event when I was hitting mid to max 10s with goviz. DE heavy and not good for farming. I raid max 9s for now until I can get my campsites and units to 10 max.

-As for defense, max 9 def and walls do work with level 1 infernos against max attacks from 10s and 11s. It all depends on the layout but compact multiple compartment bases will protect the wipe. I usually end up with 3 storages left but my TH and CC usually remain intact. The difference in farming in Champs vs Crystal to Silver is the league and daily bonus. I can attack less and earn just the same with less effort. As I said, because of work and life in general I can only raid 4-5 times a day. I cant earn that amount with that number of raids in a lower league. My xbow is now being upgraded to 2, my cannon to 10 and my AT to 9. If my base and farming is bad can I have saved that much and protected that much in 2 weeks after hitting 10. Rushers cant farm in Champs. Only people with max def and walls can.

Of course you earn more per raid higher up, the main drawbacks is getting hit and long training times, if those work well then by all means stay up. But efficient farming can only be done in lower leagues (high gold-crystal), where only loot per hour is important. Loot per raid is not a matrix for calculation good farming, only loot per hour and some extent loot per day. Keeping builders busy isn't a sign of good farming, that's a sign of minimal farming (max you'll ever need is 3-4mil gold per day). Walls done per day/week is the main criteria here (6-12mil gold per day).

Personally, I'm staying in higher leagues because I have nothing to farm for. But when lvl 12 walls are introduced, I'll get back to crystal in a heartbeat and crank out 10mil gold per day

Again, you think that rushers save much less than maxers. Again, I must tell you to see how much you actually
saved? Are you losing 200-300k per raid as a TH10? Then maxing makes no sense, because you spent so much time and effort to max defenses yet lose 1-2 storages less than a rusher. A rusher is encouraged to stay in lower leagues or very high leagues, because you'll get thrashed anyway in middle leagues (crystal). In crystal, you already can lose all your loot as a rusher, so I actually encourage rushers to move higher up, because defensive losses are the same whether you're high or low.

For a maxer, it makes almost no sense to stay in higher leagues because you're actually protected in lower leagues. You say you're in champs? Move to crystal one day and you'll find your current argument of staying high as a maxer crumbling, because a decently defended account can stay for days without being attacked in middle leagues (see, I'm actually giving an argument for maxers because I understand my topic and both sides of the coin)

TH8 maxed defenses are not very much weaker than TH9 maxed. Go check all the values yourself, and you'll find the best protecting factor of TH9 is the amount of new defenses, not the additional level. Extra WT,AT,tesla,AD and xbows at TH8 level (lvl1 xbow) actually increases your base dps and hp as much as all new TH9 levels combined. But all those additional levels lose to maxed infernos. Try it one day, full maxed TH9 and rushed TH10 (TH8 defenses+infernos), raid one of each base and tell me which is harder to take down, using a moderate army with <3 spells. Of course going all out would result in both getting wrecked, but all out isn't really farming anymore

This is why I always say, get infernos and look weak. A maxed TH9 going to TH10 won't get hit much, but those that hit you know what they're doing and would certainly thrash you (esp TH11s). A rushed TH10 with infernos would attract weaker attackers hitting you with giants, and you probably won't lose much.

My near maxed TH11 is exclusively hit by >80 combined hero levels with 12 spells (at least 4 eq) and generally lose 60-80% of my loot. My mid TH9 (maxed TH8+some new levels) is usually hit with >30 combined hero levels, 8-10 spells and lose 40-70% of my loot. My rushed TH9 (mid TH8) is hit with <20 combined hero levels, 2-8 spells and generally lose 40-60% loot. All these statistics are from observations in C2 region. Intimidation and defenses don't work well in this new CoC, because weak defenses attract weaker attackers and strong defenses deter weaker attackers, to be hit by stronger/best attackers

PS- I don't gem in farming or building structures. I'm saving up for when I need it to gem royals.

Get to TH9 asap, read the guide on when to go TH9. Then at TH9, hit TH8s for DE or inactive drills primarily with gibarch. You're decent with 5-8k DE per hr, you can get AQ to around 15 easily this way

Sin I actually tried joining 40sand9s to show you how I farm and for you to see I had 8.5 million gold, 2 million elix (just upgraded a campsite so 6.75 was just spent) and 139k de. All my builders were busy and i was saving for my upgrade of cannon to 11 and at to 10 because I was going to upgrade them simultaneously. I also wanted you to see how my base defends against max attacks from 10s and 11s and still save storages which is nearly impossible as a 9.5- baby 10 in champs. I waited for over an hour until I went back to my clan. 6hrs later my request was rejected by fay-jai koala.

Now you can do the math and all that but the fact remains that I earn a whole lot of resources as a baby 10 in champs attacking 4-8 times a day without gemming. I just raid 9s because I have no 10 troops yet and all I have is an extra spell and 5 extra slots. I also just use 3 elix spells to rek 9s so my cost is covered by loot and league bonus.

My point is this- if you cant raid 20+/day because of life outside coc then maxing walls and def will help u farm in higher leagues, get lots of loot at less time and effort. This strategy works for me and for other maxers that I know that love the game but have other commitments that need priorities (for me its my wife, my baby, my work, my parents, siblings and friends). If I did what you suggested and farm low with barch or gibarch I will not have the time for the people in my life. So again I will reiterate that maxing walls and def helps if you dont have the time to grind.

PS Valkyrie Tornado can consistently 2 star max 10 bases with minimal spell use and mid level royals if you have max 10 troops.

Looks like we are in a disagreement here and I'll leave it at that. You feel that defenses help for your survival in champs while I feel it has no bearing at all. While I would say being in high leagues does has its merits, but it is really no better than being in low leagues if you have more time

Time is exactly my point. If you cant farm often you need to adapt to how you can compensate and defend your loot. Champs provides the loot for me and my walls and def have stopped max penta golem gowipe/gowiwipe, gowiwi, mass drags, gibarch and max aq walk strats cold and protect my cc, th and storages. Rushing is for people who have time to raid while maxing is for those that dont. Since you have the time to raid frequently you do not see the logical reason for maxing and raiding less. Based on my computations I should be a mid 10 and war ready to hit and defend against max 10s and mid 11s in around 2 months which is not bad considering my number of raids.

While we may agree to disagree on this, you can not deny that it works for me and others that do the same.

Having dropped from Champion III and tried several farming strategies in different leagues, I think my view is closer to Sin's in terms of farming efficiency, especially for new TH10 and TH11 who value elixir more than other resources. I don't think the league bonus can justifiy heavy elixir usage, long waiting time, and getting attacked by war armies in high leagues. Even if the attacker fail to get half of the storages, the loss add up pretty quickly. This was 2-3 months ago and I had nearly max TH10 defense, max AQ, and partial magmas.

Right now I'm TH11 in C2 with constantly 3-4 defenses upgrading and a significant amount of loot to offer. My oldest defense in my defense log was 10d 20h ago, and my total resource loss in all this time is 57045 gold, 36950 elixir, and 514 de, excluding rearming cost which is also insignificant. I find C2 and below more relaxing because I don't have to worry about losing resources. This is especially helpful when I'm occupied with real life duties.

I used barch primarily and my farming frequency was probably closer to 20 times a day. I have briefly explained this strategy in this thread and you can see my stance is different from what I advocate today.

I'd say it's still a viable strategy for TH10. But after I upgraded to TH11, I started to rely more on lightning spells and archer queen, so keeping the farming frequency at 25 minutes each was no longer realistic for me even though I know some people still use it in higher leagues. Not bad. Even at 50% league bonus is around 160k gold/elix and around 700 de plus 300k gold/elix and 1.5k de daily bonus is pretty sweet with 20+ raids. Unfortunately I can only farm 4-5 at most 8 (during weekends) a day. My farming army has an elix and spell cost of approximately 217k elix and 850 de per raid. I raid for 70++% so I earn net around 380k-500k gold, 200-300k elix and 2.5k-3.5k de per raid. At 5 raids a day including daily bonus, I earn around 1.7m- 2.8 gold, 1.1m- 1.8m elix and 11k- 18k de per day. I break shield around once a day and lose around 160k- 390k gold, 160k- 390k elix and 3k de when I get raided depending on how much I have and I just ride my shield til the next day so I'm doing pretty good. When you hit 11 you had difficulty in finding easy 9s and 10s to farm in champs 3 so dropping to C2 to find easier prey and having near max defenses work for you. I might do that as an 11 one day but for now staying in champs farming 4-8/day with a 16 compartment base with spread out storages and centralized cc is working for me as a baby 10.

Is it better to farm DE at th10 with level 7 troops after 15/15 heroes at th9 & farming troops maxed, if defence is not a concern for one ?

Or it will be harder to get de faster there ?

I wanted to reinforce some of your statements done in the original post: DE without lvl 6 troops is hard; Hard? It's ... horrifying. I barched 25k DE after th finished and it took me 3 damned hours with boosted racks... i farm in g1-s3 because i don't try at all to earn trophies althrough recently im being raided with wallbreakers! Terrifying!

Hmm, as a TH10 unboosted I'd expect nearly 25k in 2 hrs if you're targeting DE. That's the power of being in a higher TH.

Well my sf finished for awhile and the lab will be done soon and i just got my AQ (lvl 1) and it's alot easier for me to gowipe because i have th8 defenses and i get matched with premmie's at war so it's perfect :D althrough i find it hard to farm and can only at night... now i dont know if i should do my camps first or witch?

Absolutely loved the guide, and if I was sensible I would follow it. Just one small problem- I can't stand not maxed buildings. I know, I know, it's dumb, but it's my personal pet peeve. Good guide though!

yea, im on my way to maxing th9, so if you think i should go to th10 I would like to see that guide :)

edit: I tried using the farming composition you recommended, but I'm not sure if 8 giants is enough to get inside the bases I'm finding now :(

I will not rush as long as builders are busy.... No hurry..... But i wont sit with idle builders just for walls. How far I get in walls will depend on how much loot the beta carotine provides barching. Will waste lots of elixir regardless. My TH7 will be maxed when TH8 hits in 6 days with only dark elixir troops to train.

That's the only reason I cannot dispute if you prefer maxing. I just can't stand people who say they want to max because its efficient or blabbering something about loot penalty

Try 36 barbs, 80 arch, 12 giants, 12 wb, 10 minions. My TH9 is using that with great success in G1. Though I mainly aim for collector raids, try to find those instead of relying on storage raids

Really nice job on the guide. I'm about a month into th8, and am seriously considering following your guide and jumping to TH9. I was just wondering how will getting the AQ affect my war weight ? As of now, we only have 2 TH9s in our clan, and I'm pretty low down the order. I dont want to be number 3 just cause I have an AQ.

The AQ is at least half the reason why you rushed to TH9 in the first place, get her regardless of weight.

Any amount is good actually. 2-3 or even 4 doesn't make much of a difference. Just make sure you do AQ and drills as well

I just wanted to ask you this: does offense weigh much? I have aq lvl 2 all spells except haste and all th8 troops. Does making my lava doges affect my mm? And my army camps and troop upgrades?

Nice thread. Just wanted to ask this - is there really any point in not deploying X bows for war? Coz I'm already getting matched up with Th9 opponents having X Bows. So what's the point in leaving my base defenseless in war when my opponents have maxed defenses?

A lot of th9s in my clan use GoHo, so I'm wondering if that is what I should use. It seems like a lot of people say that lavaloonian isn't a three star strat anymore, is that right? If you feel like it, drop those xbows. It doesn't really matter. The reasoning behind delaying xbows in this guide is just to allow more time for you to build other more important stuff, not mainly for war weight.

Laloon is still very viable. You can look through youtube to find suitable videos and tutorials.

Pentalaloon is my main attack strategy. It is very much still 3* strategy. Most bases are set for ground attacks. Use 3-4 haste and 1-2 heal for the core. Maybe a rage but not always.

thnx for replying, I'll be starting my th upgrade today. Why would haste+ heal be better than rage + heal? Also, since I'm rushing, if I build the 4th AD, will I still count as a th8 in war?

You should still have the weight of a th8 if all your other defenses are not maxed. My ad's are lvl 2. I find them high enough with max traps to prevent dragon attacks from 3*ing. as far as haste vs rage goes loons do enough damage already the rage makes them faster. haste makes them faster and you can hold more haste. 1 spell space vs 2.

Is SinOfDusk still in 40sand9s? When I looked at that clan it looked like a lot of people were inactive (no shield next to their name and last war 75 days ago.)

Thanks for the guide even though I didn't rush to th9 I was still helpful in a way
