I am a new th9 going the 8.5 route. My hero's are 10/8. I've been told by clanmates that there really aren't any 3 star strats that work if you don't have high level heroes. Is that true? I'd hate to be stuck doing gowipes until my heroes are close to 20/20. Of course I'm not expecting to 3 star max th9s, but does anyone have any strat vids or advice for a th9 who wants to 3 low to mid th9's with heroes in the range of 10/10 to 15/15?

It really depends on the opponents' base and your troop levels. GoHo and GoVaHo have been working very well for me, even with lower level heroes. Mine are 13/15 right now, but especially with GoVaHo, I've been having consistent success since they were about 12/12. Since dark spell donation, having 4 quakes with 3 spells has made this even more successful.
I know they're not the most popular troop, but I highly recommend maxing your valks after getting L4 golems, L5 hogs, and L5 heal spell. As for videos, just searching "govaho" on YouTube gave me tons of examples to study.

There is only 1 choice in my honest opinion. You can clear a low-mid TH9 with a mass hog raid, but with a decently planned GoHo your possibility for failure is reduced significantly. Here is the army comp I suggest to you, two players in my clan are three starring max TH9's with 10/10 and 10/12 heroes on the regular (more than 70% of the time).
3 Golems (1 max in cc)
24 Hogs (Must be LVL 5)
3 Wb (1 test, 2 to get in)
2 Arch
8 Wiz
1 Jump
3 Heal
2 Poison
Here is a few pointers.
You do not do a lure in this raid typically.
You can drop the jump if the base does not require it but SUB A HEAL if you do drop the jump, no rage.
Don't hold poisons, spam the **** out of them if you want... but dont not use them. Typically, I use one on cc and if enemy queen is in there too then I save the second one for skele traps. If queen is high level and wrecking your tanks, POISON HER! dont think twice, it reduces her atk speed significantly.
Also, if you don't need wbs, drop them and bring 2 more wiz.
ALWAYS save 1 wiz but preferably 2 for cleanup.
Just get the golems to the coreeeeee, dont jump into any side compartments at all if possible. Tank in the core!
Hogs can be done either surgically or in a wave style depending on the location of gb's or potential gb spots.
Practice will get you there, practice, practice, practice. Goodluck man!
edit: I just popped to TH10 on New Years, but I was farming with this army comp in Champs2 and went about 49/50 3 stars on Max TH9's... this strategy is OP if you get comfortable with it. It also costs only 150K elixir and if farming in high leagues you will accumulate elix and gold at an insane rate!
secondedit: I agree with the poster above me that GoVaHo is a good attack currently, however, if you aren't versed in GoHo, you should definitely learn that first as GoVaHo is just an extension of GoHo..

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far! Lucky for me I have hogs in the lab right now (I did loons first :unsure:). Next should I upgrade golems? heal spell? something different? If anyone has any other strats to share I appreciate those as well. I linked this thread in my clan group me for our other 9's (with mid to low heroes) who seem to be stuck in the gowipe rut.
Two people have come to my clan and only used this strategy. It sucks. Neither of them pulled off a successful 3 star war attack with this army over roughly 12 attempts. GoHo is better, plain and simple.Quote:

Air attacks against max TH9's are basically dead unless you have high heroes or the base is poorly setup. That said, pentaloon easily crushes lower th9's without max airdefenses (if you have lvl2 hounds)
GiHeHo is very situational and should not be a "backbone" attack.
Also, if you are not familiar or comfortable with straight GoHo, definitely practice that first before taking on any variants (I used GoHo in TH8, so I didn't even think to mention or ask about GoHo before suggesting GoVaHo).
I suggest upgrading golems first. They are the groundwork for a vast majority of TH9 attacks. Though if you haven't gotten giants to 6 yet, that's a definite option, too...they're extremely useful in war and raiding/farming.
not true that you need high level heroes at all to 3 fairly equal base. you just can't rely on heroes and golems to walk through half of the base for you. means less ambitious goals for your kill squad, more for your main force. if you are hogging, maybe you just focus on getting the queen and castle and maybe occupying the xbows for a good bit while you count on 30+ hogs to do most of the work. maybe you gotta bring 5 hounds on a lavaloon. valks with backend loons are a great strat on the right base. it all depends on what troops you have upgraded and where a base is vulnerable. a really well designed base may be hard for you to touch without stronger heroes, but most wars you should be able to find 3-able targets once you have max hogs, loons, etc.
