I know the ways of a ruined maze

When I was growing up I read a book about a young girl who spent all her time learning to be a priestess. Part of her duties was to memorise the exceptionally complex route of an underground maze filled with danger. Many died trying to penetrate the maze.

She became high priestess then someone came and utterly destroyed the maze. As they led her to safety she found the gods she had grown up to worship were not gods at all.

When asked what she would do now.. She said.. All I know is the ways of a ruined maze.

For some reason that story is in my mind now as I continue to learn attack techniques while the game crumbles around me.

Perhaps I was too obtuse with my post apologies. The point of my post is not what attack techniques I have.. The point is I'm increasingly believing that acquiring new techniques is simply learning new paths to a maze that is being destroyed.

Thanks for the advice to calm down... Seems vaguely misplaced given my quiet non ranting post but hey I'm happy to receive advice and consider whether it's applicable to me.

i read that book i cant remember the name atm but is that the one where they were "eaten" by the gods?

Yes! It was Ursula le Guin her Wizard of Earthsea series. The second book was the Tombs of Atuan. I am so unbelievably chuffed someone recognised it!!

Goodness me too. It is an awesome series. Must have had a big impact on me as it's come back to me now all these years later. Might go and look it out.. It's probably still in my bookcase somewhere.

i think i borrowed the whole series from the school library XD wish theyd let me buy them

I loved that series too (but don't read the 4th book that they added years later,terrible, stick with the original trilogy) :)

Lol I'll consider that a compliment. My eldest is at university now and I hope I never completely grow up otherwise I wouldn't have met such amazing people playing an online game!
