HoGiBarch Farming Strategy Guide - Best Farming Strategy After Update?

Hey guys it’s Ash and this is going to be my short guide on one of the most effective ways of farming in the current metagame, which is HoGiBarch. This is a very versatile and efficient and effective army. You can attack any type of base for loot. You can effectively attack storages or collectors inside a base, or collectors around the exterior sides of the base. Meaning, you’ll be searching less as you will have more bases to target. This composition is also one of the most efficient compositions for storage raiding because of how fast it trains. Since you’re utilizing the Dark Barracks for farming, that’s a total of 6 Barracks you’re using. This army trains faster than other efficient armies such as GiBarch, Barch, or mass Goblins, and is able to do a lot more destruction to a base.

Why HoGiBarch?

- Very quick to train. This is a very efficient army that trains very quickly since you are using 6 Barracks! This army composition trains faster than Barch, GiBarch, mass Goblins, etc.
- Very powerful attack. This is probably the fastest to train army that's the most effective at raiding storages.
- Highly versatile multidimensional attack. You can attack almost any type of base. You can go for collectors outside base, you can go for storages or collectors inside base. For example, with a Barch army, you'll have a hard time getting storages inside a base. While a powerful GoWiPe army, you'll have a hard time getting all the collectors outside a base just because you don't have enough troops. Just not a smart idea to use a GoWiPe for farming anyway. HoGiBarch allows you to do what both Barch and GoWiPe combined can do, but train faster and cheap.
- Less time nexting/searching. You will search less. Why? Because you don't have to search for a very long time for a dead base or a really weak base. With this composition, you can easily go for a total of at least 400,000 resource within just a few searches.
- Incredibly fun and strategic. If you love attacks that are fun to do and require lots of strategy, then you'll love this attack. With the high versatility of this army, you can do so much in an attack and attack a base in many different ways. Hog Riders are also super fun to use!
- Very cheap. The only troop that cost a lot is the Hog Rider, but you only need 8 of them! You will find that you'll actually end up making a lot more Dark Elixir faster even by using Hog Riders. Why? Because this army trains faster than any Elixir-only army (as you're using 6 Barracks), so you'll do more raids in the long term and make more DE. Not only that, this army allows you to storage raid, meaning you'll get that DE Storage a lot and make lots of DE fast.

Army Composition:

12 Giants, 8 Wall Breakers, 8 Hog Riders, lots of Archers, and some Barbarians. Cook in this manner:
- Barrack 1 = 2 Wall Breakers, 3 Giants, rest Barbarians
- Barracks 2, 3, and 4 = 2 Wall Breakers each, 3 Giants each, and rest all Archers
- Dark Barracks 1 and 2 = 4 Hog Riders each
- Spells = Rage and Heal Spells

If you are NOT using the Archer Queen, then don't cook any Giants. Instead, use 12 Hog Riders instead and only cook Heal Spells. Here's my HogBarch attack guide when not using Heroes for farming:

Trophy League:

I get asked all the time which is the best league to farm in. Well I've been having a lot of success in Silver League with the trophy range of 900 to 1200 trophies. Why Silver? Benefits of Silver League:

- No concern for maintaining trophies. For instance, you can freely attack outside collectors with little troops and then just quit without winning because it's so easy to get back those trophies. I don't focus on winning trophies at all and I find myself dropping trophies occasionally.
- Lots of rushed bases. There are so many rushed weak bases with loaded Storages inside the base. You'll have to hard time stealing all that resource with something like Barch, but not with HoGiBarch! You can easily break inside these bases with HoGiBarch and get all those storages.
- More dead bases. There are lots of dead bases in Silver. You'll find dead bases here more frequently than in higher leagues. While you want to stay away from Bronze League because you'll start to cloud a lot unless you're a TH8 player.
- Easy bully targets. If you want to make loot fast, then you need to bully the Town Hall level below you a lot. Why? Because it's only a 20% loot penalty. Which means that if you're a TH9 player and you attack a TH8, then the total loot available to you is only deducted by 20%. That's very little! And it's so easy beating any TH8 player as a TH9 player, so you should try to bully as many of them as you can. That's why Silver League is the best league for that, you'll find tons of TH8s. Same with TH10s who want to bully TH9s and TH11s who want to bully TH10s, etc.

- This composition will work in Gold, Crystal, and Masters. It may actually be better for farming in Masters League if you want more Dark Elixir and are using strong Heroes such as at least level 20 Barbarian King and and level 20 Archer Queen. Especially if you're boosting, I'd recommend Masters.

Target:

- You want to aim for a total of at least 400,000 in total resource. For example, if you can steal 150,000 Gold and 250,000 from a base, then you should attack it. Whether you attack the collectors or storages for it. As long as you get that minimum total target.
- If loot is scarce and you're finding yourself searching for too long, then you should lower your target to a minimum of 300,000 in total resource. You will still make lots in profit and always finding your storages filling up quick.

I'm a th9 and I use GiHeWiArch in masters right now.
4 healers, 12 giants, 24 archers, 16 wizards, 8 wb
1 heal, 1 rage, 4 eq and cc giants

Its enough to break into the core and get at least 60%. It takes 1h to make and isnt expensive.
I use it mainly to farm de and it works great.

edit. i dont use aq for farming

Seems to work to get some good loot.

Biggest problem, or to say it that way, time consuming one is to go low in trophies.
Dropped down to 1000 the last days, was 2 days nearly offline and now i´m back at 2000. Lots of droppers on their way down.
So have to stay in crystal i think.

THIS IS ALL CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

PROS:
QUICK TRAIN TIME.
GOLD AND DE Profits.
TH9 and below. Maybe some TH10s, I was a fairly maxed th10 and was matched with a lot of maxed 9s and fairly maxed 10s (during the 2 week wait between transitioning to th11)


CONS:
TOTAL ELIXIR TO READY = 220k SPELLS AND TROOPS and 660 DE
(NOTE HE DOESN'T USE THE FULL AMOUNT OF ELIXIR BUT HE DOES HAVE TO READY A SPELL IF USED, THAT'S WHY I SAY PARTIAL RETURN INSTEAD OF NO RETURN ON MY QUICK CRITIQUE OF HIS RAIDS).

1st raid gave u a good GOLD return but partial return on elixir and sizable DE return.
2nd raid collector base. ANY farming strat works on them.
3rd Another GOLD and DE return still little Elixir return.
4th Same Results as "1" and "3".

RAIDS NEED TO BE BETWEEN= 300k-400k OFFERS. Difficult unless you are a th9 and below or maybe a lucky th10. Horrible for th11s too much elixir expense.

NEED A TIMED VIDEO ANALYZING UR PROFITS IN A TIME FRAME. UNLESS THIS IS A SET IT AND FORGET IT STRAT.


RECOMMENDATION:
NOTE: MOST PROFITABLE FARMING FOR ME ON ALL RESOURCES WAS MILKING.
1.5m per hour gold and elixir 5-6kDE. CHEAPEST TROOP COMP COSTING MINIMUMS BETWEEN 10-50k ELIXIR

Th11 here, I vouch for this strategy. Have been using this for a while now since th10

Advantages are pretty much as stated, but here is my own comp:
2 wb each barracks, 1 rax giants, 1 rax goblins and 2 rax arch
Comes out to 8 giants, 8 wb, 16 hogs, 70+ arch, 30+ goblins
2 heal, 2 rage, 1 freeze, cc arch or wiz

As a th11, I can take out half a th10 base without much spells, take 3/5 of the loot. I can also, as a th10, wreck all maxed th9s without deploying any hero, though spell usage might be higher

Pretty versatile in taking out collectors and storages alike. 2 giants on each side, 4 hogs follow, arch and goblins take out all collectors for easy 60-80% destruction

These days with rare collectors, many people still do not hit collectors hidden within the core of the base. Here's where the strategy shines, withoutinfernos and gb active, it ccan absolutely wreck any dead base and gain the sweet 400-600k loot from a protected collector dead base

My comp takes up around 1k de, but I'm farming in c1 and the bases here have a ton of de available. In fact as a th10 post update, I had enough resources using this comp to put bk lvl32-34 down and a dark spell in lab, yet still overflow in de. So don't fear the de cost

I was thinking of doing a video to showcase this farming strat, but was lazy. Luckily ash did it for me and would surely help the community.

Nice guide! another job well done. anyway loot penalty for attacking 1 town hall level below has been increased to 20% after the recent update.

Thanks! If you're farming in sessions, try the method I'm sharing. Trains very quickly and can get most of the job done on a base too so you'll make loot faster (is also much cheaper in Elixir cost). :)

Ouch lol. Make all your collectors are protected outside your base so Silver League attackers can attack your collectors and you get a shield.

No need for caps, I can read it clearly lol. 300k-400k total loot offers are everywhere in Silver. You will find a base with that much offered on average under 10 searches.

Also, the attack examples were merely examples of the versatility of the army not an example of the "only" bases you can attack. Reason why this method of farming is one of the most superior methods of farming (in my opinion) is the versatility of the attack. You are able to attack collectors outside or storages/collectors inside for massive loot.

And no, re-check your calculations. The army costs around 96,000 Elixir for a TH9 to train with 520 DE. You are not using all spells ti farm with, that's just poor farming. Usually I use 1 Spell per Storage raid and 0 Spells for collectors. Which would average out to be less than 1 spell per raid. Very little Elixir usage.

Here is a similar 2 hour live gameplay of me using a similar versatile army (GiBAM) to farm 6.5 million total Gold + Elixir along with 24,000 DE. The method I'm sharing in the guide utilizes Hogs instead of Minions, as Hogs are even better at storage raiding and train just as quickly as Minions:

No matter what I try I can't farm with giants. Never works for me so I'm stuck with barch xD

-Just searched about 10x and found some bases with less than 300k offers, and the ones offerring 300k were Th11s and 10s with infernos. Your strat doesn't work against IT very well.

I guess you overlooked that I stated you do not use all your elixir... hence why I put CAPS. 96k for elixir, but you left out the spells u had to ready. U become in a deficit of 210k Elixir readying these troops and spells at the start. You averaged about 220k Elixir on each raid 210-250k.

By the way you said you use 1 spell, but in your demonstration video your 2nd to last raid used 2 spells, and your last raid using 3 spells and a dark spell. 2/4 of your attacks included spell use over 1. The 1st raid used only 1 spell, and no spells on a collector.

Test Example using your average elixir you collected on each raid. We will use 220k Elixir just for the example.

1 spell used= 120k Elixir Cost with troops with 1x heal (RAID 1)
EX 1: Profit about 100k if raid 220k Elixir still in deficit because 96k for troops + the 1 spell

2 spells= 153k Elixir Cost with troops with 1x heal and 1x Rage (Raid 3)
Ex 2:Profit about 70k if raid 220k elixir still in a deficit 96k to ready troops plus the spells you need to ready.

3 spells= 177k Elixir Cost with troops with 2x heal and 1x Rage (Raid 4) with the DE used for the Poison.
Ex 3:Profit about 50k if raid 220k elixir= constant deficit because you have to ready troops again 96k+ Whichever Heal and Rage you used.

Truth is you claim this is one or possibly the best farming strategy post update. When this is meant for TH9s and below and some TH10s. This cannot be used on IT bases and expect to have high profit margins.
And without Boost your troop time averages about 20mins (5mins with boost on all 4 barracks) per barrack and to ready spells over an between an 1.5hrs and 30mins depending on spells used.

This is good for Gold and DE farming.

I tried your method before and it doesn't work for me as a Th11 or when I was a Th10.
I farmed masters with Golem Archers Giants Goblins and WB Using 1-2 spells like you. This gave me an overall better profit on elixir thanks to the bonus and even more of a profit margin on gold and DE than your gold league raids. But as you may know Masters has th10s and 11s with ITs hence why I use Golem and some giants. And this was my most cost effective strategy. Post update we higher THs are trying to conserve as much as possible on elixir and you may know this. This is why I have trouble accepting your strategy as one of the best because my Go Arch Gi Gob and WB strat was more Cost effective and took about the same ready time as yours.

So basically in summary, you don't believe this is the best farming strategy post update (which is a matter of opinion). You don't believe this works for TH10s when you are unable to attack TH10s, and this is false. As a TH10 player, I had farmed 84.5 million Gold in 24 hours with a similar versatile attack method (GiBAM). Currently as a TH11 player, I am prospering farming with GiBarch and HogBarch. I have many videos (including live 1 or 2 hour gameplay videos) for TH9s, TH10s, and TH11s with this and similar methods of farming with HoGiBarch/GiBarch/GiBAM/GiWi, etc..

Since dropping to Silver around Christmas I have had a lot of success BAMming. As you say, keeping all 6 barracks productive is the key to fast army builds. And since gemming is super cheap right now, we can really pile up the loot.

So my only concern is your videos showing multiple spell use. If most attacks require two spells, that becomes the lowest common denominator, unless you follow a two spell raid with a collector raid or two to let the spell factory catch up.

Otherwise this looks pretty fun.

How long did it take to find those bases? Yes, you said not much "nexting" but when I was in silver there was nothing. It may have been bad luck but I only saw bases with 50-100K total resources at most...

Hey Ash, I've been using this farming composition and it's been working well for me. The issue that I've been having recently is that I have my archer queen upgrading. The 12hogs+barch adjustment is great for farming gold+elixer, but it doesn't seem to be very efficient for farming up dark elixer. I was wondering what was your opinion, the best composition to profit with DE without the archer queen. I lean towards compositions that conserve DE, even if it means slower cook time. Thanks man, you're the best.

So I've tried to farm with HogBarch, but am having some issues. I'm a TH8, and pushed to Crystal for the gems... maybe I should drop down to Silver indeed. In Crystal 3, I always get attacked instantly after my protection (Shield, Village Guard) is gone, and also those TH9's in Crystal seem to know how to defeat my base, unlike in lower leagues. Heck; I even was attacked by a guy who's in Master 3 lol (no, it wasn't a Revenge).

But ya. Drifting off topic. The thing is, HogBarch REQUIRES at least two heal-spells for every attack if you want to succeed; otherwise the Hogs die way too fast. You also always use two heal spells for the attacks in your video, except in the one collector raid (for obvious reasons). Thus, the fact that this army trains very fast becomes irrelevant, because you can only attack once every 40 minutes anyway, unless you boost the spell factory.

Actually, I average 1 spell per raid. Almost all collector raids = 0 spells. around 60% of storage raids = 1 spell used. Around 40% of storage raids = 2 spells. The reason you see me sometimes using multiple spells is because of the bases I'm attacking. I'm attacking for a lot of resource. My rule of thumb is, if you can get at least 400,000 in total resource in 1 raid, then that's definitely worth using 1 spell. Anything substantially greater than that is worth using 2 spells. That was just 1 video example. I have more videos of this strategy.

On average, I'd say around 10-12 nexts. And yes, it can depend sometimes (especially if you play in short sessions), but I always play in long sessions, so it usually always averages out.

Using GiHo based farmcomps since ages...
9-14 Giants, 12 Hogs, 6 Wallbrakers and heals works fine for me, T9 at Maters 3 mostly.
Rest filled with a mix of whatever I feel like, mostly archers.
Lowest number of Giants I feel fine with is 9, since many people requesting giants it's always different.
60-80% destruction on most attacks, just for the bonus is fine and covers troops mostly.

As said, it's great to cover mostly all, just get collectors but also able to dive into the core - but doing both is sometimes a little complicated...

Hey Ash, really nice and helpful thread, within a few searches i found a 850k raid in gold 1!

I used 16 giants 8 hogs 1rax barbs and 3 rax archers, even without Archer Queen (TH8) i find myself better with giants then without, how do you guys see that? Should i make more barbs instead of giants? Does it cook faster? Ash's saying that the giants don't protect archers very well from splash damage.
