I'Spend way too much on a game thats "going downhill"

So i just got into clash since november 26 of this year. I just wrote an excel sheet and looked that i had spent roughly 500 dollars in a month and a week of playing time. That being said I'm a halfway maxed th8 with only a few defensive structures and half my walls remaining. I have never gemmed any resources, but i gem wait times very frequently.

Now that being said, I work full time, and did the math that roughly i've spent 14.69$ a day since I started playing. I spend more than that on lunch and coffees every day, so in reality it isn't THAT much, but when looking at a lump sum it seems like alot.

I've look at previous posts and people say they've spent 0 dollars but have played three years. Thats just too long for me to wait.

Anyone have thoughts / opinions? I guess im a whale?

It's not going downhill. Clash of Clans has been standing atop a hill for a long time, with a comfy house where it can live. But now he's walking on a hilly path using money as energy to reach a town on a hill at higher heights.

I won't vouch for it, but people have gotten gem refunds from apple/Google dating back to more than 6 months. The ehtics of those refunds is your choice to make.
Doing so will probably get your account banned though

i don't want a refund in gems.. i was just wondering if other people have experienced what i'm going through.

Loads of people I know have spent atleast $250 in the game - again only on time never on resources. That is not a whale imo.

A whale is pump in a thousand everytime an update drops. A real whale just throws ~$12-13K and speed away to max th10.

Go to top players and look at the bases; you will notice a lot of maxed TH11's including GW at 20...I guess everyone got their gift cards before Christmas!

The number is not the issue - it is what does number represent as a percentage of your disposable income?

That is quite a bit, but I'm sure many people spend waaay more. I'm mid-late TH9, playing for about 9 months now and I've only spent maybe $50? Probably less.

But hey, if you can afford it, you're helping to support the game for everyone. The entire pay structure is $$$=time saved so if your time is more valuable than your money, go for it.

I wouldn't say the game is "going downhill". People are complaining now but that will settle down in a little while.

the 500 is negligible in the grand scheme of things. It just seems like a lot of money to spend on a free to play game which is why i'm having this dilemma.

Its too early for you to be considered a whale. $500 is alot for one month, but its a matter of would you spend that much every month. if so, then you would become a whale. With only 1 month playing it would be hard to say you are one but say you play another 2 years and spend $500 a month that is $6000. now that, for a mobile free-to-play game, that would be a whale.

As it has after every update; this one was a big one though and my concern remains the ability of the casuals to "adapt"...

I'd love to see the data that SC has on the player population!
