They rushed the update to be release before the holidays so they can cash in on people money from holiday gifts.
Someone said it was a present from sc to us for the holiday, really? Cmon man, its all about $$$.

No way it's Capcom, as the CEO Kiichiro Urata has only been in charge there a little over a year and less than five years if you include his time in the US office. And before that he worked at Microsoft.
Anyway, no way an upper level executive from Japan makes a post like this, just totally and completely out of line and an automatic route to a window desk.
Hate when people pretend to be someone they are not, I am sure Urata-San is taking heat over this post now.
Well, if that's how you feel, that's how you feel.
But, the game is free, unless you choose to buy gems, which you of course, could have done pre-update.
Add to that, the cost of research, dev, and getting the update made, and the servers done for it, cost SC money.
So yes, I can fully understand them releasing it when they did.
However, a major update, they really should have thought it out more, on the release date, knowing there could be issues. That much, I do agree with.
Lach,
First let me say it's impressive that you are still here on NYE. That's admirable and shows serious dedication!
You do make the case for the main point of my post, however, which is that an experienced game development executive team would never release a major update like this at this time of year. The upside risks of delay were, as best I can tell from the outside, zero. The downside risks, however, were/are huge. Why gamble that there will be no gameplay/balance issues that would require the staff to cancel their holidays. Or worse, not cancel and leave many in the community upset with the game over the holidays?
IMHO that is something that should be brought up, if for no other reason than out of respect for the development staff - that their holidays or their jobs are not put at risk by releasing a patch.
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to update a game and been forced to hold off for a few weeks. You get very excited by the new content, and then upset that a main developer or dba has scheduled a vacation to Germany or something. But an experienced executive team knows that the patch will wait, but players won't (if you break their game).
And just fyi, I'm not submitting a feedback report lol. I'm ranting on a forum. I get to use all the same shorthand and internet jargon as anyone else :saywhat::p
I guess that may mean the update was actually delayed, not rushed.Quote:
But, what you need to remember, is that the date of an update is never known until the week of.
They always have estimates, but sometimes, those estimates are way off.
So that also, blows holes into "SC rushed it to rake in the $$$$"
