It doesn't suprise me when people accept a bad idea

A few years ago a burger chain came out with a 1/3 lb burger to compete with McDonalds 1/4 lb burger. The 1/3 lb burger was the same price as the 1/4 lb burger. The plan failed because the average person thought 1/4 was bigger than 1/3.

Another example is. Sometimes we get emails scams. It's common for them to have many typos. They do this on purpose. They feel if a person isn't smart/observant enough to see a typo they will be an easy mark. So anyone who responds is usually not very bright and easy to con money out of.

A study was conducted on luck. They picked random people to see if luck existed. A part of that test was giving all the subjects a newspaper and on 1 of the pages was a coupon to receive $100. Those that claimed to be lucky saw the add and those that felt unlucky didn't see the add. They concluded lucky people were just more observant.

It doesn't surprise me when people don't see or understand how this update made it harder to get loot. Sure you may see big numbers but your loot per hour has dramatically decreased. I get about 75% less loot per hour since the update.

I have a question for those who think the loot is better: How much loot per hour did you gain before the update? If you can't answer that simple question, how can you say it's better?

I gained no loot per hour before the update as all I did was log in to empty my collectors and because I was hiding behind a cheap free shield I was able to have gold and elixir storages at cap and DE of +70k.

Now I raid a few times a day and try to make sure that my storages hold more at the end of the day than the maximum that can be raided from me.

So you're forced to play more for the same end result? How is the loot "better" if you have to do more after the update?

I am forced to actually have to play the game. I am playing it more because prior to this I wasn't playing it at all and in any other game it would have been akin to me downloading the game, opening it twice a day and then closing it again, whilst expecting to progress! Now tell me that is not a pointless way to play a game?

Very well put. I love some of the examples you gave.

I honestly can not say if it's "better" because I wasn't tracking it pre update like I have post update. I've done a few tests to show that it's still available but my claim hasn't been that the loot is "better". However, it has felt like it has been easier for me to find. That's based completely on my personal experience with the game though.

Personally I find the game more enjoyable in it's current form. I'm progressing, I find loot and I have fun. For me that's all that matters.

It doesn't surprise me to see people that see what they want to see. And doesn't surprise me to see people claiming they have data to prove their point, even though it still turns out to be very subjective. For more on the subject, see "How to Lie with Statistics" by Darrell Huff.

I earn more loot now because I can attack 3 times per shield instead of just 1. I have always hung out in the higher leagues because I like the competition in raids more than I like getting my next wall upgrade. That is my personal preference.

I didn't hang out in Silver farming dead bases with Barch for hours on end. That style was deeply impacted by the changes, and people probably earn less loot doing it now. That is not the only style that was impacted (TH sniping for instance).

Just because one style of play was impacted by the update does not mean that other styles of play were not enhanced. SuperCell made a business decision to enhance the styles of play that lead (in their analysis) to revenue. They also decided to mitigate styles of play that (in their analysis) negatively impacted their game business.

Not everyone on earth has to play Clash of Clans. People who cannot adapt to new play styles can feel free to play competitor game #1, competitor game #2, or competitor game #3. SuperCell is a business, you can choose not to patronize them.

Some things are common sense to some and complex to others. There are players who say the loot is "better". I want to know what "better" is. What did these players do before the update to make it seem better now? Putting in more effort for the same reward isn't better to me.

You can't argue against hard facts. Before the update I could get 1.1 million gold and elixir per hour without sniping and unboosted. After the update it's closer to 250k per hour. You can hand a person a lemon and say it's sweet but some are going to see it's lie faster than others.

But you keep quoting books you don't understand. If that works for you.

Except I've already wasted 19 months playing this game. I bought my first smart phone to play this game because my coworkers thought it was awesome. To change dramatically after sucking money and time from people is unethical. Start a new game that contains "strategery". Don't ruin the one people poured effort into

Post-update: 3.8 mil gold, 2.5 mil elixir, 29k DE
