If GW was a DE hero

Elixir is inflated, so SC was trying to find more elixir sinks. Heavy armies are one but only present in high leagues, champs and higher where a loot bonus really counteracts that. Just not enough sinks compared to gold or dark. So GW was an elixir hero. If it was a DE hero, elixir would be overflowing. It wouldn't be good for dark elixir either. Too many sinks not enough source. So SC made it a Elixir hero to balance all three resources for farmers

Except they also changed the whole shielding system at the same time encouraging use of bigger armies and took away supplemental snipe income. This also created a situation where our free shields disappeared, making it much more difficult to save elixir. As a result a lot of champs players with town hall out dropped to bronze/silver not just to farm with cheaper armies, but also to have a better chance on defense or more likely just be nexted and never even get attacked.

Anecdotally I am in champ 2 nexting past 500k gold/3k DE bases searching for 300k elixir for my GW upgrades. I also made the plunge post update to bronze and can confirm its a better strategy for farming elixir than the higher leagues and I may drop again if I'm not too lazy to do the 1 troop drop thing for half an hour.

we already had elixir for walls, so no need for elixir for a new hero.

the OP's argument is very valid, as I just don't see farming dark stuff in bronze/gold as a viable strategy for new town hall 11's, but it is very viable for elixir.

I just farm elixir with gowiwi. League bonus covers spells and the few elixir troops. Works wonders

Honestly it doesn't matter what they made it...same principles apply as always have:

-Farming DE use elix heavy army/spells
-Farming elix use de heavy army/spells
-Gold...well that is everywhere all the time


On that 2nd bit all I've done is farm my GW from 10 to 17 since the update...loot everywhere for those willing to actually play the game...just sayin.

What league?

I am a TH11 farming elixirs in low leagues (I have tried multiple strategies before I resort to this), and I also think upgrading GW with DE would make more sense if SC's goal is to make us push trophies.

This is true for th9 as well. Elixir is only useful at the beginning of th level, after which they typically go into walls.



Gibarch? Gibarch with wiz? All of those armies wont consume DE. I used to gibarch in M1 for DE. I net 80k de per day average, and 180k de a day when I really wanted it while spending 0 de.

I went from Silver up to Champ 3. Early on after update I had to adopt a layout that would appeal to barch crowd for 'cheap' shields. This has worked amazingly well up thru 3350+ cups...after that hammer city so I drop back before logging off.

As I'm GW farming I am using an unconventional de based comp:
2 golem
2 witch
6 valks
4 wiz
28 gobs
28 arch
8 wb

4-5 EQ, poison, 1 rage & 2 freeze (save elix spells if I can)

Gaining 300-600k elix plus 180-200k bonus every attack. When boosted around 2mil per her (30min per atk)

Having been down to bronze and now back up in champ 2 I would have to say that the M1 did seem like the sweet spot for a new town hall 11.
