Should I upgrade to th9?

Do not wish to belittle your emotional response to your friends getting ahead of you but do you play this game for yourself or for "prestige" with your friends? TH9 is a hard grind with many expensive upgrades - do you want to have a miserable time just so you can be "even" with your friends playing?

Your choice, however your rationale for your "biggest problem" is flawed. Upgrade's as suggested by others at TH8.

I've just moved from a Maxed TH8 including walls to a TH9.

At TH8 I was pretty good at looting, I used to have all my 5 builders busy and research lab always working. Once I got to TH9, I'm struggling to loot specially because I still dont have Archers, Barbs and Giants at lvl 6.

I would rather Max TH8 before going to TH9 as TH9 might be tough to loot in the first few weeks!

Imo BK, Golem and 80% wall must be upgraded before moving to TH9. Rest of the walls you can upgrade during TH upgrade. Also Practice Gowipe as much as you can during this period (since you have abundance of DE & elixir).

Do not upgrade to TH9. I did two weeks ago and I regret it. I was fully maxed th8, walls and research. Had my coffers including cc loot full. I spent most of the loot doing the new builds. Problem is, you cant hold more than 3mil elixir as a new th9. Between the heaving raids you will now take, the cost of farming, my elixir has gone no where. You will not be able to start research at all. My new research has been sitting empty for nearly two weeks. It is impossible for me as a casual player, maybe raiding 15 times a day, to get enough elixir to build up for what will be lost. Three others in my 50 person level 7 war clan are in the same boat.

Go to TH9 then. You will be able to use your builders while working on your leftover walls and heroes. TH9 have more build time than lab time, so you will recover if you try to max at TH9
