I just hit TH10 a week ago. Sitting on fully maxed TH9 lab/troops and 25/25 heroes (220 troops). TH10 veterans out there, what trophy range have you found ideal for farming elixir (post update)? What comp or comps do you use when farming solely for elixir? I have no problems sacrificing DE to make elixir. In fact, it seems a requirement at this point. The gold seems to be rolling in no problem, though. Any help is appreciated; thanks in advance.
Can't remember ever raiding for just elixer, as most hits seem to offer about equal amounts, but have raided for just de. Have run up and down from crystal 3 to masters 1 and had zero trouble anywhere farming with a queen walk and gibarch. Do throw in a couple spells if the base is really loaded and math justifies it.
Running into similar problem; Gold comes and DE seems to flow with ease as I GiBarch in M3. That said between throwing in a spell or two when I must and eventually being raided for 200k+ elixer it seems to be taking forever to amass elixer for next upgrade. While I haven't put it into practice yet I'm going to take a stab the best bet will be involving Golems and Earthquake spells if you don't have a problem dumping DE. Lavaloonion is also good but balloons can get pricey too. Just have to raid smart and hope for luck lol
After the new upgrade you have 2 options:
1.Go to high league (2800 + trophy), and from there each win give you about 100+ elixer bonus. + the elixer you stole during the attack. In those leagues you will need to attack with stront troops (golem, wizards, etc..), and it's probelm to keep the elixer. Because in the top leagues there are other good attacker, that will stole you 200+ elixer in each attack. Therefore you might need to play alot to earn elixer. After you were attacked, you should use 3 attacks while you have active shields to get back what was stolen from you + earn some extra.
2.Go to very low league (1300- trophy). There can attack with arch/barb inactive bases as in past. + you need to wait less time between each attack, as it take less time to train the troops.
Not many ppl will attack your resources.
But problem is that after each time you will log out ppl will attack you with single unit (many want to lower their trophy), and you find yourself again with 1600+ trophy, and you need again to use 10-15 attack just to lower your trophy back.
I've been in about the same boat with my TH10 that turned about 2 weeks before the update. At the time, I sort of followed the masses down into the gold/silver leagues since going there with BAM pre-update was a great way to build up elixir. Obviously, BAM stopped working when collector raids dried up and people started placing their TH inside. I turned to GoBarchQuake (2 golems, 8 wb, 60 barb, 60 arch, rest goblins, 3xquake+CC quake, 3 heals) to get my elixir costs down. Since the non-spell cost was only about 55k elixir, this worked well early on to get my army camps and initial lab upgrades started. However, as we got into week 2 of the update, I noticed an overwhelming number of advanced TH10/TH11 bases showing up in my queue while raiding in the 1200-1800 range along with TH9s that had no elixir.
After a boosted 3 hour raid session that yielded only 750k elixir, I packed up shop and started pushing back up to crystal/masters to get better win bonuses. I've noticed in the last few days that I'm seeing more TH9s with loot and fewer maxed out TH10/TH11 bases. It might be that I got completely out of the snake pit where everyone is trophy dropping to bronze, or it might be some fix on SC's side. But, above 1800 cups yielded much better offers from TH9s. I've moved back to my tried and true TH9 DE farming GiBarch (16 giants, 8 wb, 52 barb, 52 arch, rest goblins, 1 poison, 1 jump, rest heals) since it doesn't drain out DE quickly, and I'm actually able to make an elixir profit and a really good DE profit off of the TH9s that I'm seeing. I'll probably switch back to GoBarch for a little while once my lab frees up in a week and the drill boost is over since it's much better on elixir profits.
I still think that the update was a bit heavy handed on reducing elixir flow with sliding scale win bonuses and redistributing elixir to 4 storages plus TH, but it's at least tolerable in higher leagues if you're not overly rushed, have a reasonable defense, and don't drop extra heal spells unless you know it's going to be profitable. We'll see how things go once the elixir boost gets turned off, though.
