WELCOME TO THE FORUMS, MAVERICKS!!
Let's hope that there are other open-minded sorts out there who are willing to discuss, consider and weigh the arguments for and against the update.
Late th8 - I remember those days lots of elixir to burn, de upgrades all done, only needed gold for walls, building big armies and consistently practised war attacks and pushed trophies - exactly the way supercell intended, doesn't quite work that way in upper levels.
I am a hardcore farmer still despite the efforts of Supercell to change my gaming style - I completely maxed TH9 with full lavas and Royals at lvl30 each.
I was lucky, I upgraded to TH10 about a month before this "buggy" update landed - I was able to upgrade my camps and get a viable TH10 war army upgraded (Pekka5 is cooking in the lab now) before the Elixir drought started. Plus I am upgraded enough as a "young" TH10 that most attackers would just next my base even when I am carrying full resources. 4 of my 5 builders are busy.
Do I like the update? From a clan perspective (not a personal one as I have explained above that I am "lucky"), I absolutely DETEST this December update as I see many of my less fortunate clan mates hurting - these are peeps in the early phases of TH9 and TH10. The E drought is a very real concern and I worry when the current 1-gem boost is over.
I find the lack of any official response from Supercell disconcerting - no sane business concern releases a major update and then goes on hols. The fact that gemming is so interwoven into the fabric of the update is also cause for concern but that's a different matter altogether - let's not cloud the issue.
What I find most disappointing however is Supercell's attempt to limit the very many gaming styles that made Clash unique. It was this diversity that kept me playing the game for some 3 years now.
Diversity is something which should be celebrated. When a developer starts telling players - play it my way, it restricts and limits the diversity and entertainment value of the game, it kills the fun.
My family of 4 clans (ranging from lvl 5 to 8) have closed ranks to weather this storm. We're a mix of different playing styles - hardcore farmers like myself, warmongers, casual gamers, cup pushers and hybrids - we found common ground in the old Clash of Clans.
