I just had a war attack completely screwed up thanks to this golem which took a much different path than expected...

why didn't it just go straight ahead and target the walls in front of the ad? the walls were weaker and closer than the totally random pathing to the wt...
Not sure, buy my AQ has been acting strange as well.
It will always head to an exposed defense even though you drop it in front of a walled defense.
Source: learned this the very hard way. :(
If you wanted it to go at the AD you shouldn't have dropped your CC DIRECTLY in between the AD and wiz tower. Christ man, wake up.
that wt was not exposed though, in fact the walls surrounding it were stronger than the walls surrounding the ad.Quote:

wow all this update negativity is spilling over into every thread now...
the area between where I dropped my golem and it being right in front of the ad is 8x1 tiles; the area between where I dropped it and where it ended up going is 8x5 tiles. how is 8x5 smaller than 8x1?
The collector in front of the golem is an obstacle, which slightly deviates the golem from a straight route... So he choosed to go on the WT side, and targets it.
You should have put it a bit south. But this behavior seems normal for me.
The update changed the way a golem quit smashing a wall as soon wallbreakers open an adjacent compartment... They tend to cluster now, which is bad. I've seen golems go for a long path, even if the wall they were smashing explodes a second later, but I can adapt to this new behavior.
I'm no AI expert, but I'm betting the gold storage throws it off. It's going to go for a gap between buildings to get to wall. If it goes to the north of the gold storage, there isn't a defense on the other side, so it's either going to go the long way around to the south, and before it does that, it's going to look for a closer path to the north, which put it at the wiz tower.

It had to pick one of the two targets the same distance. I am not sure how it picks. Maybe random?
If you had placed your drop one tile to the left, it would have been further from the wizard tower and went to the air defense.

The problem is the AI is using a shortest path and not a shortest distance algorithm. Which actually is the best one in general. Now in this case it might not act as predicted but it does act as coded. Look carefuly. The golem moves around the elixir collector first. Now, once it goes around the elixir collector, it is now at the same distance to both the air defense and the wizard tower. But because the gold storage is there as well, it can only start smashing the wall diagonal to the AD while it can go and smash the wall directly on top of the wizard tower. So from the AI perspective the wizard tower is actually closer than the AD. Not sure if I worded it correctly, but this isn't a bug, it is actually what the shortest path algorithm will choose as a result in that situation.Quote:

I agree. It can walk a diagonal line almost directly to the wt, but it has to detour around a few building units to get to the wall in front of the ad. By my count, 8 spaces to the wall each way.Quote:
