Im experimenting with different troop types and i was wondering what you guys think was better. For this, lets assume that build times are irrelevant (we could also compare 12 vs 4 by build time, 5 to 1 by cost, etc.) imho, the main point of difference is balloons can target stuff. However, given only 4 balloons, is it worth it?
(if relevant, im testing lvl 4 balloons, lvl 2 dragons.)
I have more success with dragons than balloons and I have the same levels of each as you. If I'm doing an air raid I use the dragons as tanks and send the balloons behind them. I think balloons are only super effective at lvl 6 and if a bunch are used.
I'd go with the balloons.
But, only if they are maxed!
Now that I actually read the thread, I'd go with the dragon...
Assuming your other 180 troops are archers or whatever [based on max TH7/TH8 capacity]. I'd opt for a dragon for the last 20 spaces over a balloon.
Balloons are only really effective at lv 5+ and in large numbers. Like groups of 10+.
A single dragon however can be very effective if released at the right time. I'm always happy when I get one in my castle while farming, it can be the difference between a good and great raid.
Although if the intent is aerial support, I'd pick 10 minions over both combinations every day of the week.
Right now im using 10 giants to take down an ad, but im thinking 4 balloons might do a better job.
I use 8 giants to take out an AD, then deploy my air units. I think dragons are better simply because they dont move as slow as balloons. If you are willing to rage spell the balloons then go with the balloons.
i dunno about you, but 8 giants dont just walk straight to the center of the base and destroy the AD.Quote:

Since for some reason everytime I quote, the page crashes, I won't quote
But I use such a low amount of giants because Im low level. I guess I didn't take that into consideration lol. The bases I attack have their ADs on the edge of their bases, which A LOT of people do.
