I know... post x 1000 of why the update isn't for the best. With (gasp) MATH!

I am a mid-TH 9. Good base design, adapted many times to take advantage of the new style of game play since the update. Collectors and resource reservoirs are spread so even a good attack doesn't get them all, etc. Yet I'm not having a good time - not at all. I'm treading water and going in circles. And all I want is to upgrade my balloons their final level so I can do Lava-Loonian.

The upgrade takes 6,000,000 elixir. In the past, I could easily crank that out. I've used full go-wipes for raiding because I enjoy it, and I enjoy using each raid to practice for war attacks - because that is the only practice you get if you play legitimately without any... 'aids'.

A full army costs me around 260k elixir. So I would build the army while under a shield, raid and make at least 260k elixir, and the league bonus up in masters made it a nice 120,000 (minimum) gain of elixir.

With my town hall outside (farming mode) I was usually sniped, but occasionally someone raided me fully. I could crank out my 6,000,000 elixir in 3 or 4 days. The nice long shield after getting sniped means that I could actually attend to my real life: you know, a family and kids. I could play when I wanted, set it down when I wanted.... and I could enjoy the game. Call me casual if you want *shrug* - but not many folks I know make it mid TH 9 in 8 months of play.

That was life before the update.

SINCE the update, there have been two major changes that negatively impacted my game play. First - because TH sniping no longer exists, every single attack that has hit me has been a full wipe by an upper level TH 9 or a Th10. With 2,500,000 elixir in my reservoirs, every one of those wipes takes me for 320 to 350k.

But supercell tried to address that change by allowing us to attack through shields. Now EVERY attack against me is nearly a full attack. That's a 350k loss, against my usual 100-150k full attack. So I end up having to make 2 attacks to break even. Why is that a problem?

Because I have a life. I don't want to have to schedule my life around playing a game - because it isn't a game anymore when that happens. I have no choice now though, because I'm dropping 300k every time I get attacked. So this is the loop I'm in right now.

I attack - +120k
One hour later, I have to log in and attack +120k
One hour later, I have to log in and attack +120k
I may be able to log in and get one more before my shield is gone +120k
Shield is gone: -300 to 350k

So with supercell's new 'make every attack a full attack', if I build my life around playing clash of clans I can make 200k of elixir over a span of 5 hours. Assuming I drop everything in real life. I can't tell you how impressed my family is when we're playing cards and I say "I have to go make an attack". Or we're eating dinner and I have to make an attack.

Of course, at night when you have to sleep you lose 8 hours of your shield, which means now going to SLEEP is a losing prospect in clash of clans.

Is that fun? Enjoyable? Not to me. Supercell better find a way to get us off this elixir carousel that they've created. Because I don't intend to mold my life around playing a game. As it is, since the update, I've had over 3 million elixir in my collectors exactly once. And that's while I'm on vacation. Once I go back to real life where I sleep and work 14 or 15 hours a day, I'll never manage to keep anything in my reservoirs.

If you have decent TH9 troops, you should not be attacking anyone with less then 400k/400k/4k using a real army.

I agree with you, be prepared for the trolls who are going to tell you to adapt or quit but leave your resources outside...

With the ability to demo Th8s and raid TH9s, 120k net is peanuts to what you could be raking in.

To only get half of that and lose resources? What's the point? What's your definition of a "real" army... my definition is any composition that fills up the army camps...

so I can use a "real" army to attack someone but only get half of their resources which puts me at a loss... you sound like a "hardcore" gamer and only use high level armies consisting of GoWiPe, GoWiWi, LavaLoonians, or some other army that costs a TON of resources... which most of us "casual" players don't want to do because we want to upgrade.

I'd even be willing to bet that you are a TH10 (maxed or near maxed) if not a TH11

So what if he is? Have you tried amassing loot from maxed out TH10s or TH11s with all the new goodies? TH9s are worth squat. Have to work just as hard as anyone else to make a profit.

Claiming I should be 400/400/4k is pretty unrealistic. Luckily enough, my troops had just finished
building. So I'll take your claim and test it. Of course I already know that your suggestion really isn't realistic. I am in a competitive clan with 50 members - and people BRAG when they manage to pull in a 400/400/4k attack. It's pretty darn uncommon. Guess what? 10 minutes.... I'm still hitting next.

Yeah THAT'S the game I what to spend time playing. 15 minutes of pressing next to find an attack.

Yep. TH 10's are in the same position.

As a TH 9, the only bases I see offering 400/400/4 on a regular basis are TH 10's with inferno towers. And since raiding once of those means I will barely pull a 50 percent if I'm lucky, actually GETTING 400/400/4 from one is nigh-on impossible.

I'd enjoy having a reasonable discussion. But the 400/400/4 attack is pure baloney. Never mind that as a TH 9 attacking other TH9's, getting a 100% attack happens maybe half the time, so that 400/400/4 is more like a 275/275/3, which oddly enough is what I'm doing already.

It only works for those who are TH10 or TH11.. so for me, your argument is invalid...

I'm only coming across THs with 200k - 250k (MAYBE the occasional 300 - 350 which I'm not equipped to attack) loot and max defenses, so if I spent the 200k+ on troops, plus the 100k on spells, I"m out even if I get 100% of the base... so what's the point in raiding anymore?

I'm not going to go up to masters, or titan, or legend, or any other league higher than I am now because I'd get taken for more than I bring in already... so I can sit and let my collectors do their thing while I'm not attacking and then spend it on walls/heros and not get attacked for a couple of days and make up for the attack that does come in...
