Why I believe the Grand Warden is making witch attacks too strong (and a fix?)
This post is not to make the Grand Warden weaker, but to make spam mass witches a 2* strategy and not a 3* strategy. Read the post fully if you wish to be informed on why it does not affect any 3* attack strategies.
Hello!
As we all know, Grand Warden's life aura is in a given range, and affects all troops in that area. The health buff is based on a % of the troop's health, and there's a maximum hp buff allowed for troops so that golems or hounds aren't given a ridiculous benefit.
This all is fine, but there's one problem being that the more troops there are, the more hp increase there is in total.
Witches (which spawn large amounts of skeletons) greatly benefit from the fact that there's, in total, a greater hp buff to quantities of troops, which surpasses the balance of a capped hp buff.
Supercell needs to also introduce to the Grand Warden a capped amount of troops which can benefit from the aura (and perhaps target higher hp troops). This would make the mass witch attack still benefit from the Grand Warden, but no longer make the mass witch attack an exploitable "spam attack" strategy! For example, up to 20 troops can benefit from the life aura.
3* attack strategies, such as LaLo, GoHo, etc would not be affected by this in any way as these phased attacks utilise up to 20 troops per part of the attack.
Obviously, as more TH11 offence content is released (army camp space and hogs/loons levels), it will meet the difficulty of new defensive levels in the future too.
Let me know what you think :D
[After looking through the comments, I thought adding a link to the Eagle Artillery balance thread would add ease to a few concerns http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...nced-strength]
TO THOSE WHO THINK THIS IS NERFING THE HERO:
This is changing the mechanics of the Grand Warden to balance mass witches, a spam attack which is currently being exploited. If you are using an actual 3* attack strategy, you will have no difference made to your attack as you will have under 20 troops in the Grand Warden's area. Therefore, this is not in actuality a nerf to 3 starring TH11s.
Example: In a Shattered Laloon attack, the use of a kill squad to take out critical defences and Archer Queen etc leaves you with around 16 Loons and 3 Hounds. As the Grand Warden would have a limit of 20 troops, all the troops in the area would be buffed as usual. As Supercell released more offensive content and defensive content, the power of the attack:defence ratio at TH11 would hopefully stay balanced (assuming they release offensive and defensive content equally)
For the record, seeing as everyone thinks I'm new to the game, I'm currently a 4 month old TH10 with 31/35 heroes, all lava walls, and have been playing since September 2012.
