Still trying to figure out a good way to farm elixir. Gold and DE are okay to farm. Elixirs is just plain hard.

Method works, but it does take some time grinding.
Also a couple wallbreakers doesn't hurt.
TH8 here. I farmed ~2 million of each in about an hour, but the DE is terrible like those above me have mentioned. I doubt I grabbed more than a few hundred DE in the same time frame. 99% of bases have level 1 drills or drills that aren't nearly full. I dropped from ~1700 to ~1250 and the bases with DE still exist assuming I have an army that is able to break into the middle of a base.
I am an early TH8 and breaking into a base for storages feels very difficult as 90% of all bases I find with proper loot are max TH8 and TH9 whose upgraded defenses shred my level 4 troops. Ever since the update I have been unable to pick on most TH7 bases since they never offer enough loot to feel worth attacking, which is just as Supercell planned. I have level 5 barch, but saving up elixir for research as well as upgrades is impossible after bases with easily accessible loot disappeared in gold league making barch feel obsolete.
After dropping trophies I am able to farm like I once did before the update. There are many semi-full collector bases and bases with the Town Hall outside of the walls. The same bases with the TH outside also has 200K total available, which makes farming a breeze using goblins. Everyone needing lots of gold and elixir should do this before these bases are milked dry!
Edit: I should note that these are not inactive bases. Many are semi-active bases with the TH outside. How they are able to hold on to so much loot after the update has been out for weeks I do not know.
