Before, we could play casual and do simple attacks, and make progress. That ended. Now, it's too much like work, and just frustrating to try and save for any major upgrades.
My solution was to drop the gems on a week shield on both my games, and will rely on the boosted collectors to get a couple major upgrades done. If nothing changes before the boost/shield time ends (which I highly doubt anything will), my next step is to try and do the log on once every 4 days to collect maxed collectors, then log back off for 4 days and see if I can stay out of the queue that way and hope for a future update that returns playability for a bad attacker.
I switched clans to a non war clan due to my lack of attacking skills when it became obvious I was never going to be a great war player. Now they have pushed me even further out with the latest update to leaving my clan to not take up space when I am essentially an inactive base. I guess I'm not a good chief. :(
