Daily Special ad in DD

Curious about the "Daily Special" ad on the inside cover of the front page of the newspaper. Is this for real or is it just a fake ad for...well, I'm not sure what for. It mostly sells shovels and dynamite. Today it says "80% off, 20 shovels for 20 diamonds, normally 200 diamonds". Huh???? 20 diamonds for 20 shovels???? I can hire Tom for a day for 15 diamonds and send him out 12 times in that 24 hours. If I sent him for shovels every time and he brought back an average of 8 shovels each time I would have 96 shovels for my 15 diamonds. Why on earth would I pay 20 diamonds for 20 shovels. And thats the "special" price too! Remember the regular price is 200 diamonds. Is this a joke? I'm too scared to click on it for fear that I will make a purchase.

if i remember correctly supercell said something like:
"Tom can only get a maximum of 9 at any one time and there is a 2 hour wait in between tasks. For those players who need items immediately, the deal in the newspaper allows them to do so via outright purchase with diamonds at a cost much lower than normal price"

so basically, if you suddenly feel the urge to get 20 shovels at one go, its a fantastic deal. you'll never know when the 7 dwarves come a calling and want to go mining, rite...

same sentiments exactly. in fact everytime i flip open the paper and see the ad i would always chuckle and wonder who would take up this "offer". seriously, i think the deal is only for people who :

1. do not have 15 diamonds to spare at that point of time to hire tom;
2. do not have any friends nor neighbors to ask "could you spare a couple of dynamites?" lol

seriously, no matter how you look at it, this CANNOT be a good deal, not even a mediocre one. did you say fantastic deal, symphony82011? hehe

The DD Special (DDS) is not a good deal when compared to Tom's services.

The DDS is a good deal when compared to regular price for the product.

DDS is instant acquisition. Tom is a 24 hour or more investment, which a lot of people chose not to utilize because they cannot afford to break their sleep (among other reasons).

Example:
Regular price for 1 dynamite is 3 diamonds. Selling 12 for 7 diamonds is a significant discount.

Ok if you have 20 diamonds to buy 20 shovels then you have 15 diamonds to hire Tom so that makes no sense. And my analogy of sending Tom out 12 times in 24 hours is the maximum option. Even if you only sent him out THREE times and he brought back the minimum of 7 shovels you are STILL better off hiring him than buying 20 shovels for 20 diamonds! Sometimes I wonder what the Supercell people are thinking!!

totally agree! like i said the offer for those who do not have 15 diamonds to spare. maybe they have 10, or 12? lol but seriously i would just wait a little longer so i have 15 and can afford to hire tom. as to what SC people are thinking, maybe they're thinking "let us come up with some ridiculous offers and see who takes up! then we'll all be able to have a good laugh" haha
