Entered Th8 6 days ago, any tips on both what to upgrade and how to attack?

Hello there. I've been reading around the forum, but I really couldn't find much of a help for myself, so I thought I'd make a thread about it, and hopefully you guys could lend me some advice

So currently, I am Th 8, since about 5-7 days now. I've been upgrading my traps and bombs, but the loot is pretty poor and if I do see 200k+ loot, it's always a maxed Th8 or Th9 to attack, and I just simply can't take them with maxed th7 troops (Currently on Silver league, 1100 trophies).

Any advice on what troops I should use to attack, so it wouldn't overweight the gain? My usual attack on Th7 was 60 barbs and 140 archers

Edit: I'm a bit confused about the 1st link (spreadsheet). At th8, I can't upgrade my spell factory (I can only create the dark spell factory to level 2)

I just maxed my TH8 so I can give you some general advice.

Do you like to War, Push, or Farm? (Farming is dead af)

Troops: 1) Barbarians and 2) Archers and 3) Giants are always the first troops I max because you will always need loot to be building. 3.5) Get Wizards anytime between 3 and 7, they are extremely versatile and great for donating if you have level 5 clan perks. 3.75) Get max Rage... It is so useful with anything. 4) Get Dragon level 3 and unlock earthquake spell so you can use the old Dragloonquake strategy (10 level 3 Dragons, 5 max CC balloons, 2 Lightning 1 Earthquake 1 Rage) which is very effective on a lot of TH8 bases. 5) Get Hog Riders up to level 4 after you get a max level king. 6)If you do hogs you will need good heal spells so max em too. 7) Now you will be at a point of near max TH8 when you will need to start attacking maxed defense TH8 bases in war. Get your Golems to level 2 and 8) wall-breakers to level 5. (GoHo can 3 star pretty much anything)

Defences: I always like getting the new building I get to be the same level as the rest of the TH7 buildings (For example if I have all Level 8 Cannons then I would upgrade the new cannon to level 8 before I started upgrading the rest to level 9) Once all the new buildings are the same level as the old I recommend upgrading 1) Wizard towers and 2) Mortars.

From this point you can do whatever defenses you want.

I don't think I've ever farmed with barch. Heck, goblins fall by the wayside for the very same reason...never got the hang of either. Why? Probably because I love to just torch bases, similar to a war attack.

For me, I don't even touch barb or archer until much, much later. Giants are solid to upgrade, depending on how you farm. I used to love farming with loons and rage, so maybe giants aren't a big deal.

Basically, what to upgrade is a function of what you like/are effective with farming. Another consideration is how often you war. If you war a lot, your troop upgrade order can and likely will change rapidly. In this situation, you'll like want to go to L3 dragons asap, as they dominate early to mid TH8 war attacks.

Hogs are a troop that I'd strongly consider, both from a farming and war perspective. I think hogs (at L4) are the strongest TH8 troop. For farming, I'd typically bring, say, 8 hogs. For war, I most often do full hog runs (when I actually pilot a TH8, as both my accounts are TH9 now), now exceeding 40 total hogs (considering CC, of course).

Note that the above discussion is solely focused on troops. If you want a full-blown analysis, I/we'd need to know how many builders you have and your current status. When applicable, spell factory/Lab are always right at the top of the list. As far as defenses, again, it might depend on if you war a lot or not. If war a lot, air defenses would be high on my list. Things like that...

I use 12 Giants, 8 wall-breakers, 8 wizards, and the rest barch with the new update.

Unfortunately I think you're gonna have a really hard time farming until SC does something to fix this mess of a loot system they made. I'm a max th8 and I still have trouble even finding other max th8's with decent loot, all the lower lvl th8's are really poor. No point even bothering with dead bases; they're all gone. However, you can either barch with a few WB's or GiBarch with a few WB's and goblins if you want, and always use one rage spell to blast your way into the core. Just gotta keep pressing next till you die of boredom.

Really hope they fix this game... I'm not going to th9 until they do!!

it's been 2 weeks since i upgrade to th8 , looting more than 200k is hard. though i am about to unlock dragons to lvl 3 now.
i usually use archer, giant and healer for looting, that's always been my fave troops.

If you are in a war clan, then upgrade your air defenses to max and dragons to level 3 as fast as you can. At least that is my reccomendation.
