*Disclaimer* - My apologies, I feel the need to vent/rant. All these moaners on forums are irritating me.
Well, well well...
So last week brought a new wave of modder bans. Good riddance quite frankly.
The forum has been swamped with people complaining about their bans, or their friend's ban, or the ban of some 'fantastic player who contributed a lot to the game.
No.
It's a simple concept, you cheat, you get found out, you have to go. It's the same in all walks of life. Or at least it is supposed to be.
The 'I got banned and now I'm gonna cry about it on forums' people
Do you really think you have a leg to stand on? And the excuses I have seen, wow...
'I wasn't using 3rd party software' - Yes, you were. Stop lying.
'I wasn't warned about it, I shouldn't get a lifetime ban' - Really? You need to be told that cheating is wrong? Besides, Supercell posted in both forums and IN-GAME in the news section that these bans were coming
'I used to use it but now I don't - My personal favourite. I used to be a bank robber, but I stopped. So that's it right, we're cool yeah?

No, they didn't though did they.
What they did is simple. They cheated other players out of a fair game. These honest players may be players that PAY to use the game. And they were being cheated out of it by a bunch of people who decided they wanted to win so badly they would cheat the system.

I for one am glad they are gone. We are lucky, I only recall one time that we were obviously pitted against a mod clan, the war was a joke, they could clearly see EVERYTHING and it's like they were controlling their troops with joysticks. It wasn't pleasant, and thankfully those days are over for a lot of honest clans out there.
On another note
The bans seem to have inspired a mass of people getting on their high horses and demanding Supercell do something about pretty much anything they can think of.
For example, the .5 and engineered bases.
I don't agree at all. I mean, I don't see the issue with it. It's a sacrifice, your base is slightly easier to beat (for someone lower from their side) but you can hit a little higher. It's give and take.
Also, it's a strategy game, and correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this a strategy?!
People are simply using the tools Supercell gave them to help them win. Isn't that what EVERY player does aon EVERY game EVER? Use the tools available to find a strategy that works for you. Otherwise we would all be drawing every war and nobody would be enjoying learning how to get an HONEST edge over their opponents
But hey, what are they going to do, ban all TH9s that don't have Xbows?!
I agree with the majority about those defenceless bases causing havoc, but again it's a strategy in a strategy game. Just because you aren't a fan doesn't make it wrong.
*For the record we don't have defenceless bases, but we do have a couple of .5s*
In Summary
Go find another game to cheat on. Leave the people that remain on Clash of Clans to play the game honestly. it REALLY is a better game without you.
Get a grip. Own your mistakes. And stop being a bunch of whiney little children about the fact that you did something wrong and got punished for it.

This is the first time I've encountered your post. Interesting read. I especially agree with the part about the work involved (I've recently stepped down as leader) and the unpleasant decisions that HAVE to be made, for the good of the clan.

*Side note, I found it very amusing watching everyone lose their minds at the ‘delay’ - despite Supercell never actually announcing a release date. Honestly, some people on these forums seriously do think that Supercell owes them something don’t they?!
They are a company, we are their customers, they give us a product for free. Seriously, get a grip.*
The update
My (personal) verdict on some of the updates…
PEKKA
So, the return of the mighty PEKKA? Not so sure…
Granted, Teslas no longer do 2x damage, great. However, I still maintain that they are far too slow, certainly to be an effective war mainstay. I know, I know, I’ve never really been part of ‘Team PEKKA’, and maybe they can be tamed enough to become part of GOVAPE as a weird kind of damage dealing tank for valks… But they are SOOOO slow. They just aren’t for me.
I was dubious when the attack timer was 3 ½ minutes, let alone 3 minutes.
Witch
This is actually a new one to me. I never had the luxury of trying the witch in all her glory. In fact, the witch nerf came right as my Town Hall was in the middle of upgrading to TH9. However, we have people in the clan who have used her before, so I’m still trying this one out. But the fact that she can now withstand a giant bomb seems pretty useful to me, even if the skeletons still don’t trigger traps.

Complete waste of my gold and war weight.
* By the way, the bonus 'deals' in the shop for gems, gold, elix, DE etc. - Genius!
A little TOO much progress
It seems we are paying the price of progress.
Over the course of the last couple of months, around 5 or 6 of our consistently solid TH8s have made the jump to TH9. This is great of course, and they are already showing some serious ability at the higher level.
However…
We have tried, many times to replace them, but few ever seem to quite make the cut. Don’t get me wrong, a couple of TH8s have come in and been very impressive, But we are definitely in some sort of negative TH8 equity right now.
Mixed with the fact that our original TH7s have progressed to TH8 in that time and we find ourselves very TH9 heavy. This isn’t great for war and we are finding that our matchups have suffered since. And whilst we still sit at 41 wins in the last 50, our immediately recent record has been about 12 wins in 18. I know it’s hardly devastating, but this is way below our usual very high standards.
New guys…..
Of course, because of the above, we have been trying to recruit some new TH6-TH8 into the clan…. But SERIOUSLY?!?! At what point did it become so that new members HAVE to be completely useless. It’s like it’s become some sort of requirement or something.
I mean we have always had our fair share of lunatics, but there have always been some decent ones in there. It just seems that right now all we are getting is the lowest that COC has to offer.
- 12 year olds who are obsessed with the idea that we have females in our clan.
- Or that we have high end troops, which they must bleed us of.
- People who think it is perfectly acceptable to enter a brand new clan and request troops without even attempting to pretend they are here for anything else
- The ones who think that their mere presence among us means they are entitled to Elder, Co blah blah blah
As we all know, these are standard issues every good clan faces.
However, since we have been making more of an effort recruiting recently, a new breed of nutter has really started to irritate me…
It’s the ones who come into the clan, act all normal and active etc. Then, when war time comes around you think ‘Well, since we are recruiting and we do need lower members, I’ll take a chance on them,’
Battle day arrives... a few hours pass… halfway point in war… a few hours left…. And you never see or hear a damn thing from them.
A couple of points I should make which will explain why this bothers me so:
1. We make it unequivocally clear that we are a ‘War Clan’ above everything else. Our members put war and stars first, every time
2. We have a specific strategy which works. A small part of this is that our members all use their first attack within 12 hours. Given that we are based in various English speaking countries (UK, USA, Canada, Australia mostly) I think that this is perfectly reasonable. This strategy is mailed out before EVERY war. So there is never any confusion.
If the 2 above points don’t work for someone, that’s cool. We probably aren’t the right clan for them. No worries. But I can’t for the life of me understand why someone would join, see this is how we do things and then still beg to be put in war only to go completely AWOL right as war is starting. It’s not just the odd one, it seems to be 90% of the new guys in war right now.
They give the good new guys a bad name. Unfortunately we haven’t come across many of those recently…
