TH11 Update's Economics and Balance Analyzing
Hello out there fellow Chiefs!
How are we all faring?
Looking at the forums myself it is clear that this update is a hot topic, so this Chief is here to directly discuss and acknowledge that this update is causing outrage from a large portion of the community, without denial of this fact.
Chief hopes you have some spare time! There are attached screenshots of the email below which was sent to the dev team by yours truly, and this Chief would like you to let your opinions flow forth.
Now, this Chief asks you just a couple things when posting-- please keep an open mind here, do not speak just for yourself, but in addition think in terms of all players in general or all players at a specific Town Hall.
Every Chief has different schedules, therefore extremely varying amounts of time they can play Clash!
Also, think about what a reasonable amount of room for error would be, (ex. Inferno Tower balancing, TH10 Clan War balance in general, raiding costs vs. returns) and be as specific, as justifying, and as thoughtful as you can. This Chief will be reading all of your comments and replying where possible.
The goal here is to settle upon what we as a community can do to fix this Clash Economy which has directly caused 5 very good Chiefs from GhostlyMire's clan to take a break for an unknown period of time, and several more trying for expensive upgrades with increasing frustrations and unneeded anger at a beautiful game.
You can comment on Chief's ideas/suggestions, and/or post some of your own!

Here's an example, which is true to what this Chief thinks, and is a real scenario:
This update is making it extremely difficult for Town Hall 8's. Even with the old Loot System, a Town Hall 8 can do near nothing should a Town Hall 9 (I'm looking at you, Level 6 Giants and Archer Queen) decide to raid them. This is evident by a member of my clan, who is not rushed, who is saving up for PEKKA Barracks and Hogs 4, the last 5/8 shields have been with GoWiPe, TH9 GiBA, and Drags, the others being small farming composition raids which all were from fellow Town Hall 8s.
They are getting bogged down as they lose about 1000-1200 Dark Elixir when this occurs, and have a war-worthy base, except protecting DE more so than the Town Hall. They can only be on about 3-4 times a day for a period of about 30 minutes each due to family and educational needs (Once early morning[seldom], lunch break, after arriving home from errands while taking care of family, and right before they go to bed after finishing homework and the like).
And they are not alone. My clan has many other non-rushed Town Hall 8's who have school, work, sports, etc where long sessions aren't a thing for them.
They are strong in Clan Wars but regular raiding/defending has become a heavy upkeep to them due to hours at which they cannot be online doing boosting sessions to stay until Personal Break Timer to rack up profits with so many Shields being a near wipe of their Available Loot so much of the time, and their reasonably on the cheap side serious Armies with Full Spells costing just over 100,000 Elixir means they need a loaded base just to break even, and even then, they basically need to wipe they base they are attacking in order to get that.
I am in favor of some middle ground between us and Supercell to allow Town Hall sniping with perhaps a much smaller shield to allow these kinds of people to still play the game comfortably, and players to garner these tiny bits of 100% profit by dropping a Hero and immediately continue raiding after. Town Hall Sniping encourages activity and healthy emotional atmospheres to the game this way.

Hopefully by this point you've read the attached file or are about to, you will find a ton more in detail there from this Chief. Happy posting!

Town Hall Sniping and Raiding Since the Update
Chief GhostlyMire,
I agree with your claims of problems the new update has created for the clashing community. First of all, town hall sniping was a beautiful part of the game.
It created a win-win scenario in certain aspects for both the attacker and the defender. I like your suggestion of changing the shield times, or even another edit to make farming slightly worse than before the update, but it should still be a strategy for players to use.
I've also noticed a big problem in making a profit in raiding, like you said. With no sniping and the minimalization of finding zombie bases, it is nearly impossible to gain any elixir from raiding without spending a ton of elixir or dark elixir to obtain it. This requires creating a large, war-like army just to hopefully gain some extra loot. Then, in the 2+ hours it takes to cook that army, it is fairly likely your shield/guard may be gone, and then you get wiped and lose more than the amount of loot you just raided for.
Overall, I think that bringing back town hall sniping is an easy and obvious solution to this impossibility of making a profit from raiding.
The update is interesting, but difficult for low level Townhall players
Chief Ghostlymire,
I agree with your analysis and with Brandon's. It is much more difficult to save loot in the new format. I know of a lot of mid level town hall players that get clobbered frequently by a chief one townhall above them as soon as their shield expires. The casual player is not going to stay on the game much longer in the current format because they will see no progress, get frustrated and quit playing.
Was the game getting stale? Probably to max th10 players and this gives them something to look forward to, but to those that are still on their journey to the upper levels of Clash, this was a shot to the knees and is very debilitating to progress.
This Chief thinks that Supercell needs to tweak the update more to enhance the lower level players experience and help them protect their loot they clashed so valiantly to get. I understand that 80% of all raids were townhall snipes and that locked a lot of loot up with long shields. There must be a better solution than the current update provided to the overall community.
Supercell, are you listening?
