Well if your more comfortable attacking with ground troops, practice gohos or Govahos on town hall 8s first. once you have the principles in place you will understand the game and the pathing of the troops more. just practice makes perfect.
also no matter what people say, like to stick to getting the 2 star, just ignore them. also try to avoid using Gowipe or Gowiwi, these attacks slower your rate of progression with the game
Don't go for three star strategies if you're in a casual clan with no one to back you up if you fail.. if you think you can hit the th with your kill squad try max attack golaloon maybe? As much as I love 3 stars on 9s, your clan absolutely has to guarantee that every 9 is at least two starred and you're really screwing your clan if they're counting on that and you're failing.
Also, learn to gowiva/govalo/govaho. Great chance at 3 stars on some bases with a guarantee of two stars.
