Possible for TH8 to *effectively* defend against TH9?

With that definition and to your original question, no. If a TH9 wants to do either of those, or both, there's nothing you can do. A good gibarch with double digit heroes and full spells are going to stomp all over you. Nothing you can do about it at 8. Best thing to do is for you to make it up by stomping on 7s and other 8s. Nope TH 8 will always get rekt from th 9. No matter how good the base. The gap between th 9 and th 8 on both offensive and defensive standpoint is too big. This is coming from a th 9. I'm sorry but since the update I'm forced to feed off active th 8 with storage. It's pretty natural. Big fish eat small fish. I'm having trouble against th 10s myself.
