I never play with my music on so it took me a while to realize that the in game sound effects and music aren't working. This is on an Ipad mini 2 btw. Also, I believe the sounds were working perfectly before the December update. It doesn't really change my game play it's really just something I wanted to throw out there.
(Yes music and sound effects are on in my settings so I know it's not that)
