When in reality alls the mines will be doing is bring the economy back to where it was at and forcing the people who have returned into using better armies. This will create a push and pull. It will give a reward and punishment more then already is. People will feel as though this new reward of loot is great because they are conquering a battle they already lost. (Quiting after the update). This feeling of accomplishment will cause many more to get addicted. Making them spend more money into it. And with it being a more pay to win type of game causing them to spend a lot.

I think there was a reason they extended it out for so long. I think there is a reason the devolpers say we are for the clashers and we love yet do other things. They are taking advantage of our fragile human brains. It is in no doubt the downfall to clash of clans. How ever it won't be the downfall of supercell.

But what do you expect when your playing a game from a company that makes 6 million dollars a day. I can't understand how anyone with half a brain could think that a company as rich as they are and as much time as they had would create a new thing that would starve the economy and ruin the game causing the game to fail. They obviously have the money to have the best marketing minds on this. To assume they didn't anticipate this would be incredibly ignorant.

I could go way more in depth about this but I've already typed wayyy to much. The only thing I don't understand is the terrible personal break system. Is it a way to mess with people's psychies so they think "gee I can only play for three hours straight???" I must do that atleast. Or is it a false flag and a way for supercell to appear to being doing good a deed and fixing it distracting others away from the real issues.

There is a reason they changed the economy. Gamers all their life have been trained to "beat the game." What happens then? Buy another game and move on. Not good for supplier.

In conjunction, remember two things. 1) The CEO at CC said he wanted to everyone to be playing CoC in 10 years. 2) Their boy Galadon says make every attack a full attack!

Summary: They are purposely slowing progress, enabling everyone to be repeat customers for longer, or simply just frustrate players enough to gem. They want you to use super adv attacks and have neg profit each attack, or make a resource choice for ex taking more DE, while losing gold or purple. Very easy to see that casual farmers that are used to being shielded, and those farmers playing for 2+ are at least th9, if not max, are suffering the most.

You raise some really good points. I think it's more to make people buy more gems. Or a extremely bold take on making a long last longer. When you want a game to last for long a long period of time you add new content, not change existing content to a slower progression. This kinda defeats the psychology of humans, we always want more, want better, want new things. Making the game harder won't do any of these things. Nor will it increase the level of self gratification do to the fact that people have already accomplished what you have but in a shorter, and easier time. There also is people who gem would be able to just buy it. How would you feel about working hard to accomplish something only to be beaten by someone who started yesterday and just bought it (which I'm sure already happens)? I don't think accomplishment is the right perspective as to way people gem of work extremely hard to achieve it.

I think clash has a different psychological aspect to it. I think most people arnt grinding out there bases for sense of accomplishments, I believe it's to compete. It's more to get a advantage over someone else. Atleast I know in my own person experience this is the case.

So would slowing progression in a game that people are working hard to compete later, be more reasonably added for the intent of making people spend more gems, adding more new and exciting challenges to the game or keeping people playing longer? I say it's because they want them to spend more gems.

Its pretty true. Every type of player in game has been hit by this. PBT encourages casual attackers and general players to boost. Decreased war loot means war clans have less resources to upgrade their base so encouraging gem spending again. And of course town halls on the outside,or farming as most players know it as has been abolished,meaning players who boost troops,buy shields and use gems to upgrade their base are far more likely to succeed. Its sad but I guess supercell wasn't making enough,which is ironic as the update is chasing away a lot of the gem spenders.

That is very true. Supercell was deffinetly making enough money though. I feel as so a majority of this was implemented on softbanks behalf.

Chasing away players who spend a lot of gems could also be apart of the plan. Interesting enough the type of people who spend gems tend to spend massive amounts of money when they return, even if for a short period of time. I think it has to do with the psychology of making up for lost time. They feel as though quiting was a mistake and to make up for that mistake they have to buy there way to were they would of been, if not higher, if they had not quit. I played a game called maplestory for 10 years. It was by far the most evil and genius marketing I've ever seen. I payed close attention to what they did and why they did it. It was very frequently that people would return, only to find out all there items were out dated. Then with in a week spend litterally thousands on it to catch back up to where they were only to quit a few months later. And this repeated in a loop.

I could see supercell attempting this but with the slow progression I don't see how people could fall far behind then what they would be.

It's funny the type of people freemium games market to and exploit and how predictable, and easy to minipulate, there spending habits are.

Are we aloud to bump threads? I would love to see more people's opinions on this, and perhaps spread some insight as to why this might be wrong.

Then I could get my TH sniped, take a shield for the night, and not worry about getting wrecked. Then, while I am at work, my shield would expire and someone else would attack me to give me a shield until I got home. Every now and then someone would destroy my base, but it wasn't a big deal since it didn't always happen.

Well now it always happens. Since I am trying to save up de for golems, I am always offering about 2K DE. Also, my elixir storages are always almost completely full, so I am an extra prime target. Now, I will do a few raids at night and get about the same I was getting before. However, I am almost guaranteed to get hit by a TH9 who will be able to get to the center of my base and take 2K DE. So you might say, "well you still ended up ahead 1K on DE!" Well, no, because then when my shield expires in the day while I am at work, I also get hit for another 2K so now I am down. Take into account days where I can't play or don't feel like it, and I am losing DE faster than I can earn it.

This is my main issue with the update. It has made CoC a chore to play. If I don't attack every day, it is nearly impossible for me to upgrade and make any progress in the game. Well, i don't have the time for that, and on the days that I do have time, I don't want to make attacks because I know I will lose everything anyway. So basically the update has made it impossible for me to move forward in the game, and that isn't a game that I want to play.

All great points. Obviously key stakeholders want players to spend money and enjoy the product. I'm guessing no one has a problem with that, not even the players; because, it's symbiotic, without the entire eco-system there isn't a freemium game.

Tangent/Analogies: In some industries there are common business practices that reward development of cradle-to-grave verticals, wherein organizations provide services for customers for long periods of time. Again, could be a good thing or not, but usually the market gets to decide.

Here, it feels like we were roped into a game and then it was inverted. Real money the objective or not, it feels like we were reborn into the Matrix and now they just want to purposefully, but without users knowing, plug everyone in, and either extract gems slowly over time, for years-and-years, or gouge in mass quantities when people realize progress has slowed so much they have to keep up with the Jones' to not get slaughtered (or to win) or come back and freak-out to catch up. And as in the movies, it's hard as hell to get out of that cycle.

As for intent? Example: Roads and highways are 'designed and constructed how they were meant to be driven.' But that doesn't stop people from doing all sorts of different things out there behind the wheel. Rules and signs are just guidelines, and over-governing usually causes worse problems on the streets (i.e., more traffic lights, entrances, exits, etc.) Real-world has police. And so does CoC. Seemed pretty fair to everyone before.

Now, they're using their almighty platform ('we're the developers, we're telling you how the game was meant to be played because we were the ones that thought this whole-thing up 4 years ago') to mandate/govern their agenda - what that is, the public will likely never know, well, unless WikiLeaks or Snowden want to help.

Their biggest assumption/flaw/hubris? They forgot people might quit!

Outside of that, a lot of great comments out there regarding the luxuries of developers and their accounts, with instant-armies and unlimited-troops (i.e., like special codes in console games; refer to Galadon's videos), meaning they may not know what it's like to be a young th, cook out or grind out (e.g., oh wait, they usually refer to their seldom used 'mini' account(s) they have, but more like abandon, haha). And, let us remember, all the SC employees play CoC for a living, just like Galadon and Pat. No beef there, but to many others it's just an occasional hobby/escape. No one wants to be milked after all this time when it's just a past time. TOO many other options out there. Especially not after years of time invested.

So now, instead of playing when and how players wanted, it's being forced upon us. Players could hide, drop trophies, save up in low leagues, forget to play for a while and be somewhat saved by snipes, loot, war, advanced armies, etc. Young th were mostly protected from the 'big boys' and could venture up or down as necessary. It was all open. Now things are being required, not just to survive, but to even stay above water.

Personally, the crappy part is that it 'really' isn't choose-your-own-adventure anymore. For me, PBT is a non-issue. Got a lot of stuff going on every day; if I happened to get 30 minutes to wind-down, CoC was somewhat entertaining. And, only boosted when there was risk of big loot offering and had an upgrade that could reduce that. It was a minimize-risk approach.

The th11 upgrades seem cool; but they also seem years away - maybe too far for the reward? Actually, it was about 1.5 years into that the game that I really started to reflect upon this lingering, unconscious perspective that I had where I was measuring my individual utility of fun vs 'is-this-game-length-for-real.' Movies max at 3 hours. TV shows 7 years (but usually only at most 24 hours a year). The Oscars are once a year. Sports hover around 60 minutes of time invested, all done in seasons. School calendars, and many jobs are seasonal! Even military get shore leave. You can leave a soap-opera or talk-show and come back at any time and it seems like nothing has changed! Point: NO ONE can be on CONSTANTLY on guard at all times. Thus, SC might be saying 'long-term', but instead feels like a quick strip-mine of this thing for all it's worth. Is it a possibility the game got cancelled like a tv show and this is the one last hurrah?

Overall, I've slowed, nay, stopped raiding. Primarily because loot isn't great consistently enough in the same spot, or for army compositions that meet my free-times, or in leagues where my personally gauged risk is rewarded by shields. Also, used to make a ton off of revenge. After a few days people would forget to collect > then revenge. No loot bonus, but also no next cost/time. With no one attacking me, no revenge though.

Been following along, a lot of great articles out there, Like this one, or this one, waiting for something to change. Speaking of, the one thing that CoC has something that a lot of other games don't - WAITING with nothing else to do. Even those candy-crushers out there could go back and play old boards.

The reality is that in this era waiting sucks. CoC has no inherent/permanent feature to do something on the side. Back to driving; wait at a stop light for 5 minutes, or in traffic. Is that fun? And when you're casual, coming back to the game 5 times a day isn't realistic.

I feel that SC could do more for the players. Have something to do that doesn't cost or even reward anything. Even Madden has practice mode. Why is this only avail to developers and Galadon/Pat/etc. Players should also be able to manage the revenge list, and have a donation pool (as to avoid interruption of army composition). And all the things the war community wants too! It's a fun side game!

Jonah Hill, errr, Jonas, has a fantastic life. He may not be Hollywood, but big bucks and jeans to work everyday is pretty cool. But he also is now the unwarranted scapegoat. I'm sure he was sent up there and told to say a lot of stuff without saying much at all, or was that the point of CC? And he had to readdress the community with Pat, again saying a lot of nothing. And all the Mods are really just drones/clones, 'Go back and listen to Jonas or read the transcript." Mods, glad you love the game, but when you say stuff like that you're basically putting a big red arrow over your head that says, 'I am volunteer insulation (read fodder; meat-wall) for the people that actually make money off this game.'

Since there's no transparency. Let's have a referendum. You know they've been keeping them this whole time, so let's request that they introduce personal stats.

What's our percentage loot won-per-attack-avail/defended? Percentages on income from collecting/war/farming/boosting/gemming? Nexting percentage costs per attack? Show a pie chart of income vs loss. For the players that never are going to be on the leader board (simply because you had to start at the beginning of time, errr, the game, or gem, or have it be your job) it would be great if players could try to increase their own individual dashboard percentages. Trophies can stay the same and still mean something. So can experience, achievements, and leagues.

In other words, just like a baseball player that wants to take his batting average from .200 to .210, that would be another great way to stimulate engagement, give back to the community, allow for a lot of transparency, and instead of talking in vagaries (i.e., 80% of this or that or who knows what in which leagues are snipes), show everyone the individual/country-based/global economy!

Do something, instead of saying something, errrr, nothing!

In war every th10 is usually 2-3 starred. 2 starring a maxed th10 is simple with heroes above lv30 and even terrible attackers usually succeed. While this makes war more fun for bad players, it gives a high league pusher no reason to leave their townhall inside either. Most bases are immediately 2 starred by some clumsy raid where the heroes do 30% of the damage. Who can blame them for leaving th out, staying on for 12 hours, building 20 accts and making clanmates search for their bases when theyre kicked off? I bet if the bases had half a chance of defending an attack, tons of players would build trophy bases to win cups on defense, there would be more bases to raid, and the clouds might start to dissipate...
Now we get to the townhall sniping issue. Supercell must have a constant outcry from its biggest spenders, how they waste their lives staring at clouds and all the th10's are in low leagues having fun upping their bases while the elites have nobody to raid. Well if all those th10's didnt get a CHANCE at a shield to defend their loot, and got forced up into high leagues to find sustainable amounts of loot, it might almost seem like there are raids up there for the elites! This is why "sniping" suddenly became such an issue when it never was before. Very few players are reaching legend league, but surely many are whining about not getting enough chances at attacks to make it.
SC decided to make this update about how they "intended for the game to be played". I have some questions then, if that is the case. Did you intend to waste trophy pusher's time with a flawed system that doesnt produce attackable bases? Did you intend to allow the spamming of healers on the Archer Queen to trash high lv bases? What about farmwars? Did you intend on letting players intentionally lose wars for loot? Only one of these issues directly effects only the upper tier of the game, and it is not the most detrimental one as far as integrity to the game is concerned.
I would also like to make one thing clear. Leaving your townhall outside wasn't a guaranteed shield. It was a CHANCE at a shield. You could easily be hammered for all your storages as we all have been so many times. The difference is the TH snipe enabled a multitude of gameplay styles, attracting all kinds of players to the game. Casual to hardcore and everywhere in between, children and senior citizens alike, and brought together people from all over the world who otherwise would never have met. This new CoC does not appeal to nearly as wide of an audience of players.
