One more composition and PERSONAL opinion
Melon, congrats on the post man.
I just upgraded to th9, but I could contribute with one more troop composition for you.<br>I usually use Gowipe like this:
2 Golem
2 Pekka (mine are lvl3, but u can bring one in the CC)
6 Wall Breaker
6 Barbarian
18 Wizard + 6 in CC
3 Heal
I do change the approach a little bit according to the base design, but the main ideia is very similar to what was already in the main post.
I drop the Golems on a single side of the base a bit far from each other, get 1-2 wizs on each side of both golems to create a small funnel. After that I send the rest of my wizards as needed throughout the attack. I usually send the CC wizards into the gut of the base behind the BK, but I do wait a little bit to make sure they get inside and to help them avoid possible giant bombs. If I believe the pekkas would help out more going around and distracting some of the core's defenses or just cleaning up around the base with 2-3 wizs each I do so. I avoid using the heals on the golems, or even on the pekkas usually as I consider the wizards the real attack unit of Gowipe. So I use all 3 of my heals in a position to get as many wizards as possible, especially if they are unprotected.
The one thing I actually found that's a bit different from what was stated here was that I lure the CC defensive troops. I've seen 2 effective ways to get rid of anything on TH8 (especially after the update):
1. You can use 1 or 2 poisons (one in your CC) to kill whatever is inside.
Now, I don't really know the level of the poisons to kill each level of dragons, but I've seen it work most of the time, even with one lvl1 and a lvl2 poisons (that should be easy to have if you have the clan perk). A common mistake is to drop both poisons at the same time. They DO NOT stack. You need to put one poison and wait a while so that the other poison will have it's effect after the first one wears out. This does take a lot of time, and is pretty damn boring ^^
2. This one is my favorite for dragons. I bring them to the corner or to a unprotected area on the same side I'll start my attack. I distract them with 1 barbarian and send 3 wizards right behind it. Just before the dragon actually hits the barb and kills it, I drop another barb, alone. If you practice enough you won't even use the poison spell for that and will get rid of the dragon with 3 wizs and 4-5 barbs and ALL 3 wizs will still be alive and help with your funnel.
This post is already very long, but I have one last thing to say. By the end of TH8 the attack one was using the most was GoHo. I have 2 reasons for that. The 1st is cause I believe it works for a greater variety of bases, that may be because it's stronger, or cause people know Gowipe better and prefer designs against Gowipe and mass dragons and GoHo can exploit that. The 2nd is that I really didn't want to use Gowipe when I got to TH9. On TH9 everything conspires against Gowipe. "You get a jump spell", but there are a lot more walls. "You can upgrade your golems to lv4", but the Queen, and the extra defenses will wreck them. Anyway, in my clan we have an almost maxed TH9, he's in almost every war and uses Gowipe. I only saw a 3 star on a TH9 from him once. So I decided to practice at least GoHo as a 3 star attack on my TH8 so I would stand a chance against TH9s once I upgraded.
On my TH9 I do believe Gowipe is a lot "safer" (if you don't get the 3 stars, you will probably get the 2 anyway), but I have 3 stared TH9s more often then I've seen the TH9s from my clan already with GoHo. And all I got now is the 4th spell and the lvl5 Queen.
Just to sum it up. I do believe Gowipe is a good strategy for TH8s. But it is overrated on TH9 and above. GoHo is the only TH9 strategy that can be practiced in TH8 and it is a lot harder to pull off on TH9, so it might be a good idea to practice it before you upgrade.
