post update?
any tips appreciated? best farming armies post update? do people still barch or using something else? also what league to farm for gold in?
I usually attacked with barching but after the update I'm using giants and archers/wizards with 3 healing potions and 1 poison. No more inactive villages 😞
Depends on who you're attacking. If you're hitting 7s with max TH8 barch, you should be fine. If you're trying to attack 8s and 9s, you'll need more. But try a gibarch. Use 10 giants, 8 wb, 20 barbs, rest archers and all heal spells. Find bases with loot no more than 1-2 walls deep. Ignore the core, unless you're looking at gold or lower walls.
2 golems 2 pekka wizards and walls break ( spells ) 2 rage 1 healer
When I first upgraded to town hall 8, I used Barch. Just make sure they are lvl 5. I upgraded all of my defenses in about 4 months. It was a couple of months back, but I think gold three or silver one should have sufficient loot available(i.e 300k for gold and elixer).
I'm also th8 and I'm having a pretty good time with two different army comps (all maxed th8 troops/spells):
1. Barch. Yes, it still works. Army comp: 8 WB, rest barbs and archers. Strategy: Use one finger, swish back and forth to clear outside buildings from the side closest to the gold or elixer storages that you want, and also try to attack as close to the mortars/wiz towers as possible to destroy them before they destroy you. Put two wallbreakers as your troops clear outer buildings, break the outer wall, place rage spell so that it touches all the walls straight to the core of the base, slowly add more WB's and barbs and archers (and your king if he's available) into the rage spell, it will be like the fourth of july as the loot flies into the sky. Oh and don't forget to lure clan castle (duh). Use barb king ability when he's around a lot of barbs to maximize damage.
2. Gibarchgob. 16 giants, 8 wb's, 20 gobs, 20 barbs, rest archers. I like this because it's easier than barch, barch is real difficult to maintain trophies (with practice it gets better but I'm lazy these days lol). Basically the same strategy as barch except now giants are tanking for your archers instead of barbs. Start with destroying outer buildings with barbs and archers, place giants in two different spots but on the same side, wb and rage straight to the core. The real trick with this one though is you have to take it easy on the goblins - be very careful when you place them and put them slowly or else they'll get owned by a gb or wiz tower.
These two army comps both use only one spell and take 30 mins to finish, perfect with your 30 min village guard. They also don't depend on your BK, though he makes it much easier. Keep practicing and you'll get better... remember that spamming troops never works, you gotta be careful.
Barbarians and Archers are not a very "fun" army composition but it's very efficient.
I'd suggest adding Giants and Wall Breakers and you will still have a fast and cheap farming army. My TH9 farming army is 10x Giants, 10x Wall Breakers and Barb/Archer. I'm only concerned with farming dark elixir at this point but I'm able to get anywhere from 1k - 2.5k post update.
Start out with just Wall Breakers and use the barbarians for tanking. If that strategy still isn't working for you then add some Giants. Here's a good starting TH8 farming army.
x8 Wall Breakers
x92 Barbarians
x92 Archers

I use a Loonion army. Works for the most part. I do 16-20 loons and rest minions. I take 3 rages spells and try to only use 1-2. Cc filled with max loons helps a lot but it's completely self sufficient. Not as fast as Barch but not as crazy as Gowipe with 1 max barrack and one lvl 4 dark barrack. Good Luck and happy holidays!
Use 20 giants 6 wallbreakers 3 healers and 3 heal spells and the rest archers. I average from a 3 star ro a 70-75% 2 star.
10 WB, two barracks with barbs two with archers, bring heal spells in case of a juicy core you have to have.
If boosting, boost spells & possibly the king too. You can launch an attack each 5 minutes, it adds up very quickly.
As for dropping trophies, don't just drop but milk the process: drop a few Barb/archers on not-empty collectors, then quit after they do their thing: you lose trophies AND gain 50k or so for a few barbs, until you run into a super juicy target then you gain 30 trophies, then continue dropping.
