I think your bottle neck is that u have only 3 builders. I recommend the other 2, spend some money on them.
If you insist on the opposite, here is what Im using to raid,
70barb+10-16WB+archers combo, my army camps are maxxed, so I have 220 units. get some spells if you want, 3 lighting or 1 raging+2 lightning, but they are not necessary.
The whole troop takes about 25 mins to complete, so u can comfortably raid twice an hour. It's really cheap, work out less than 50K elixir, and u dont have to use all the WB in one raid. barbs and archers cost less than 20K elixir.
I've been to TH7 for a month, and I've done alot with this compo. lvl6+ walls, maxxed defense other than telsas and air defenses, which I will do during TH upgrade. I finished most of upgrades on offense other than baloons, wizards and healing spell, which I never use.
Max defenses at TH 7 and when your builders have down time because there's only a a handful of things to upgrade, go ahead and upgrade. I was in the same position as you, it's not as bad as it's made out to be, just make it a priority to upgrade your troops as soon as you can.
Whoever says walls take forever have either: no dedication, no time, or no ability as a farmer. I was able to get 225 walls to level 8 in 24 days which is 112.5m in 24 days some days not even raiding. Pink walls are a measly 75k and purple are a measly 200k. You also only have 175 walls at TH 7. All walls from level 6-7 at your level is 35m. That is doable in a week....
Town Hall 8 isn't bad, I still find plenty of 200k/200k raids and lv 5 troops are MUCH better then lv 4 troops. We still get the potential 50% bonus on weak TH10s.
I think the loot penalty really kicks you once you hit TH9. As your best bonus is only 10%.
But still, I'd recommend staying at TH7 as long as you can bare. The more you do there will help come TH8.
Because TH8 upgrades will take much longer then TH7 ones did.

Are you sure you're farming efficiently?
I played on average of 4 hours a day and farmed maxed purple walls in a week of TH7.

long story short: if what you are doing isnt working, change what you are doing.
Theres no magic formula and usually people who give you a list of troops to use have higher level troops than you do.
