First, I'm not giving into the hype, I will not go to TH11.
Second, I will leave exactly 30% of my buildings outside my walls in defiance of this communist overlord.
Take my collectors and I'll will take my shield.

Sweet, I will drop my queen for your collectors and you still won't get a shield since the attack has to use 1/3 of your army comp total. (at least I think I have that right)
You have the right idea. What you need is a base that can be attacked for 50% by a barch army. It should take 100% of a TH8 or TH9 barch army and maybe a bit less of a TH10 or TH11 barch army. Design your base so you give up as little loot as possible (you will probably have to let them have your collectors) but make it so that they won't next past your base because they see that their barch army will be able to win.
I suspect this type of base will be common especially in higher leagues. If you are in champs 3 or higher, any base you can beat is worth attacking with a barch army even if it has next to no loot (since the army was cheap and quick and the league bonus is high). We should start seeing some popular base styles that encourage the first person to see your base to attack it no matter how weak their army is. Just make sure you are in a high enough league that people will spend an army just for a league bonus.
heres my attempt at getting cheaper shield https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d8&oe=566958C9
its been holding up pretty good and people will get relatively similar amount of loot as they are getting with full loot bonus (30% destruction loot bonus + my th loot) many have been going full on attempts to get my town hall, some tried to use less than 110 troops (and have failed at it, might have to adjust some traps for the extremely strong hero attackers) its been holding up pretty well as in they only get the th and sometimes the vaults behind the th, but thats relatively what i lose from a full on gowipe and that hasnt happened often
It's not bad, but I would consider a base (like what you probably used when you were TH7 and TH8) that has a large number of buildings outside the walls (but right next to walls) including some if not all of your collectors. Then people can drop barch all around your base and peck off those buildings while your defenses peck off their barbs and archers. As long as your league is high, it is worth attacking any base that can be defeated with a barch army and if that base style becomes popular enough (because most of us farmer switch our base to that instead of having the town hall in the corner) we should be able to protect all of our storages and our town hall while still getting a quick shield.
I will be following along with all the people trying to keep 30% percent outside. It sounds like the best post-update strategy I have heard of so far.
I think the mercy rule only applies after three attacks though. If thats the case and the th10 carries 20% of the loot total then whats the advantage?
Honestly, if I saw a base like that I'd go through the backdoor.
nvm I was wrong not sure where I got that info from
Guys if u are trophy pushers just still keep ur TH outside. After 3 attacks, you get a shield no matter what. You just lose 3X more trophies before getting shield.
I do believe you are correct. A limited number of troops must be deployed to win a shield. This is because some people would throw 20 archers on a TH or a little section of the base to get just a little loot and a star. This requirement will stop that and force a more competitive attack.
To those talking about 30% left outside, great. Easy pickings. 1 or 2 wiz on that section, and the rest of my army can focus on your defenses. Making it too easy sometimes :) How often have you lost troops who hit the DE drill instead of the tesla tower that was closer?
It is what, 14 collectors mines and drills at TH9, 17 at TH10? I don't think that is 30%
Roughly 75-85 structures between th9 and 10. You have to lose at minimum 22 buildings at TH9.
If 2 wiz can do that on a max th9, that is 212 troops plus CC and heroes with all 4 spells and a de spell I can use to attack your defenses. It will be a relatively easy 3 star. Walls wont be much of a problem with 2 or 3 jump spells.
The right answer is there.
No point in trying to play the system, that's why they made it multi faceted.
Easy to barch a win, give up 1-2 storages max for a max th10. Easy.
Should be a shield and minimal loot loss every time.
I saw a base that was testing this last night- was nexting and came across a TH10 fairly maxed out. It was the southern teaser base layout, but all collectors, bldgs. and junk on the south area. All stacked up together. For anyone not concerned about trophies, it was an easy get with less than 30% of troops.
If you wanted to really hit the base, you could do so from the top or sides- since there wasn't much trash in the way to slow you down.
This will not work as you have to place 1/3 of your army
You don't build a Barch base to stop the guy who is tooling around with a strong army from going for your Full storage's. Or that guy using his Super Queen attack.
Your building that Easy Barch base (storages all outside hugging the walls covered by archer towers and cannons) to give those guys who are 1 or 2 Town Halls below you or the the guy searching with a ♥♥♥♥ army A bunch of incentive to take your base. If it works 50 to 75% of the time that's a win.
I farmed all last night, came across 38 snipe bases. Only 3 of them had enough loot that would make me waste a decent army on. I'm more afraid of nexting 300 times to find a decent base to attack. I will have to start taking that cheap army and barch empty bases for the League Bonus.
Think about it, as more and more of these snipe bases come out from under those shields and change over there design...there are going to be a whole lot of searching going on. Maybe 80% of attacks were snipes, but I doubt 10% of those snipe bases had the loot to make you want to waste an army on if your not in a Higher League.
