A simple way to search for a fair matchup.

As a long time co leader of a war orientated clan it gets tiring of searching for 5 or sometimes even more hours resetting the search every 20 minutes. If we don't follow this very strictly we end up getting tough, and sometimes impossible matchups.

my resolution to this would be to place a "Fair Search" button that will search for however long needed to get fair matchups. You can keep a standard start war button as well.

i recently complained to supercell via help and support and in the most p.c. way possible they essentially said they could care less if we get fair matchups as long as we get a matchup in a relatively speedy time. I thought this was pure garbage as most teams war to win, but aren't hardcore. For me and my team we always have very long searches, and we're forced to set timers just to remember to stop and restart the search.

A feature like this would greatly improve the enjoyment my team gets out of this game, I'm not sure about others?

"All is fair in love and war." That was in their reply when I complained about spies getting into the clan during war. I now keep my clan closed during war. Don't expect too much from them directly. You're better off taking your request to one of their YouTube darlings. The ones they hand the sneak peaks footage to.

Stopping and starting the search over does not change how the algorithm functions and will not alter whether you are paired up with a strong or weak clan. Just because that is what you have seen doesnt mean thats how it works. The algorithm takes all your clan members base information and matches it with a clan with similar base information with a tolerance sway of a certain percentage, likely 10% above or below. If it didn't work that way, you could be a th7 and 8 clan paired with an all th10 clan. It takes a longer time because clan war is so popular, there are literally hundreds of thousands of clans searching for or involved in war at any given time. It takes time to search and compare a 40 member clan base info to a clan with 40 members that has similar base info.

By base info I refer to TH level, defense level, wall level, troop levels, hero levels. I do not think nor recall reading that experience level (such as level 98) is a factor in the war search algorithm.

Those people are usually on the alpha and beta testing teams. They are arbitrarily/contractually bound and awarded select perks and have other limitations as to the clash world.
They are not YouTube darlings but volunteers in the clash of clans development world. All major games have this. I was on an alpha and beta team for a game over multiple releases under a Microsoft brand. We were granted many aspects to test and report that the general players had no clue about (new items, changes, etc). It was permitted and ruled ok for us to demo and release limited information, sneak peeks, descriptions of select features when certain criteria were met by the development teams.

For example: Beta phase 1 is the first full graphics test on a non-controlled service such as a personal computer, where alpha testing would have been on a closed server or limited access computer. It has only been tested by developers on a controlled system to this point. After beta phase 1 is done, Beta phase 2 would test normal functions and such until all aspects outlined are complete, then begins Beta phase 3. In the contract, phase 3 involves promotion of features in a limited capacity by the beta test team, basically allowing the beta team to promote images and very limited details of a feature. Phase 4 would allow full use of the feature in the game environment to make sure it meshes in the full environment and thus permit the beta team to disclose all known information about the feature unless limitations are enacted by the development team or in contract. Phase 4 purpose would be to do final real world testing and would only last a few days. If no major problems occured, the release was made and everyone could update to get the feature.

So these guys with the sneak peeks are on the dev team or beta team. Dont think they are just randomly chosen because SC likes how they do things. Now when you reach the top player or top clan rank and stay there for a while, SC takes interest and may approach you to see if you would be interested. Normally you have to apply to become a tester and they only need so many. Most testers stay on for long periods of time. They are not usually paid, but given game perks, such as gems, to enact or enable the features to test.

You are misinformed. I've complained to supercell and they've directly told me the algerythm widens the longer the search takes place. There may be a maximum gap that I'm unaware of, but the search parameters absolutely widen the longer the search is ran.

I figure if there's enough interest that can be the next step, if people don't care neither will supercell. It would be silly to ban or send somebody on a time out for joining a clan, they don't even ban ♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥ users, and I'm sure they have a way of knowing who is using these apps lol.

apparently talking about those apps are banned in the forum so they clear them out with hearts... Anyone who's been around for awhile knows what I'm talking about lol

It widens the search field, meaning it looks deeper and possibly allows additional tolerances in the search that would result in a slightly harder or on the reciprocol, weaker, clan to be versed. There is a cap max/min limit on the resulting matchup. Have you ever seen a clan with the highest member being th8 match a clan with max member being th10? No, and you wont, the algorithm prevents that unless it is broken. Now if you have a TH10 in your clan and there is also a TH7, the search includes a range between th6 and max th10.
SC went pretty deep into how the algorithm worked when Clan Wars was released. It has had some improvements but the core function is the same.

Just because thats what SC said doesnt mean thats what they meant. Developers and tech support personnel do not always convey the proper information when giving it. Ever try to get help my calling tech support? Same thing. It is possible what they told you is correct, but it might be broken.

If SC had an algorithm that vastly widened the search parameters after hours of searching, that would be a flaw and they would seek to fix it. Otherwise it could lead to a vastly wide range matchup of a clan with max player th8 and a clan with multiple th10s, resulting in a poor review and image on SC. That would drive potential customers away, contrary and contradictory to what SC aims for.
