[Misconception] TH10 is balanced by TH11

I always see people use this argument... That the introduction of TH11 will introduce more TH10 three star attacks, and thus TH10 will be balanced.

Do people not realise that this game has been designed in a way that any player can easily three star another player of a lower TH base?

TH10 can easily three star TH9.
TH9 can easily three star TH8.
TH8 can easily three star TH7.
And so forth.

Just because a base can easily three star a lower level TH base, doesn't mean that TH level of the latter is balanced.

For example, take a look at TH8s. TH9s can easily three star TH8s but does that mean TH8 is balanced? No. You can only say TH8 is balanced when you're comparing TH8s with TH8s, offensively and defensively. Right now, TH8s need a slight defensively buff since all TH8 dragon, gowipe, and hogs attack can three star a TH8 base with ease.

If you want to take a look at a near-perfectly balanced TH level, TH9 is a great example of that. The offensive and defensive weight of TH9 are pretty much equal. This means all TH9 bases can be three starred by other TH9s. "Anti-three-star" bases can actually be three starred in TH9. You just need to find the weakness of that base and adapt your attacking style to it to exploit that weakness.

At the moment, TH10 is unbalanced simply because of the existence of anti-three star bases in TH10. There are TH10s that cannot be three starred by TH10, and frankly, any TH10 base that can be three starred by TH10 is a poorly designed base. The infernos that are introduced in TH10 are major defensive obstacles that prevents three star attacks in TH10. What TH10 needs right now is an offensive buff that will help tackle its strong defensive weight. The new hero could be the offensive buff that is needed to balance TH10.

So this logic of TH(X) is now balanced because TH(X+1) is introduced doesn't have any logical sense to it. If you're comparing two different TH levels, then of course one of them is always going to smash the other. That is the mechanics of the game.

I personally think it will, but just to make things not overpowered, TH10s should only have access to the hero up to a certain level (level 5 for example), while TH11s can upgrade him to the max level (which is level 20 as of now).

Yes, I agree with you that townhall 10 needs some balancing. I disagree that it needs the new Hero. I think a new spell or troop could also do it.

I will be escaping townhall 10 as soon as the update drops.

3 starring a well designed TH10 is absolutely possible. It is just very very unlikely.

I think of a seesaw. Balance for that would be neither up nor down. Looking at TH10, a competent player can get 50% of a TH10 with similar offense relative to defense, and usually get the TH as well. My idea of balanced, going back to the seesaw, would be the offense can get half a base and maybe the building they want.

You are accusing TH10 of lack of balance (your side down on the seesaw), but my experience in a strong clan is that a good player will get 60-70%, a great player on the right base will get 3*. What you are asking for is a unit that lets anyone 3* a TH10 (your side up). I think TH10 is the most balanced TH level. A good player will not destroy the base every time because the base is balanced, and a defender can keep him from destroying that one important building because the base is balanced. The two sides oppose eachother, tweaking bases and attacks looking for a slight edge because of this balance.

You actually missed the rationale. The rationale isn't th10 can be 3 star because th11 is launched. The hope is that once TH11 becomes the benchmark for pushing, SC can OPEN UP th10 to be a 3 star game.

Once th11 becomes the NEW standard for pushing, SC can buff th10 offence to make it easier to be 3 star (if SC wishes it to be) and not upset their pushing customer base. It always had nothing to do with your rationale. I have actually never even your rationale before. Where did you get it from?

It's possible to 3 star a TH10, but not easy to do it.

Pre-update it made sense that TH10 was hard to 3 star and it required some sheer amount of skill and knowledge of the game to pull off 3 stars, only some people could 3 star max 10's without using bunnies.

But post-update, TH10 should be easier to 3 star, why? Only because TH11 will be the new top dog, figuratively speaking. So considering that, what should Th10 receive that can make 3 starring easier for a Th10 against a fellow Th10? Well the new hero would help a ton. All TH10 needs is 10 levels on that warden hero in order to 3 star a TH10.
Will it still be extremely easy to 3 star Th10 with the new hero? Maybe, maybe not. We don't know the whole scope of things at the moment, a mere video is not enough to guarantee that but it will make it a lot easier to 3 star a Th10 but skill will still be needed to 3 star.

Perhaps TH10 will turn into TH9 with the new hero, not too easy, but not too hard either like how it is currently.

Agreed. TH11 does nothing to balance TH10... In addition to not being able to triple our peers we now get steamrolled by 11s :p Sure 9 gets rolled by 10, but at least they can triple each other. When discussing balance, other th levels are irrelevant imo.

The issue here is where the balance is set. If the balance is set at the interval where 3 stars are achievable on any TH10 base (and that only occurs when the offense and defense are matched), then an average player will have a fair chance to three star a TH10 base, whereas a better player will 3 star that base. This is ideally what we want.

In your case, you haven't considered the weighting of offenses and defenses. You said "A good player will not destroy the base every time because the base is balanced", however, a base that has overpowered defenses (and thus an unbalanced base) can keep a good player from destroying (or three starring) that base. This is the major concern here. We want to reward great attacking players with three stars. At the moment, this is only achievable on the "right" bases.

I see it at least once per week after it was mentioned that TH11 was coming out in the next update. I understand your point, but I'm not talking about the rationale that you are referring to here. That is an entirely different topic. I'm talking about those who think TH10 will be balanced because TH10 bases can be three starred by TH11 now.

and if everyone can get 3 starred easily (as i seen in th 9 attacks) then wars would always end up in a tie and then competitive wars wouldnt be as competitive as they would both always get perfect wars. have u seen a pure th 9v9 war without any th 10s or 8s? if theyre good it would always be a tie from perfect wars. but thats my opinion

Same can be applied to TH7's in war which is even easier and mindless dragging.

Totally agree. Th10 is extremely difficult to be 3 starred now. That makes no difference for the skills of players, which makes the game boring for th10 wars.

This is why TH10 is not getting balanced. At least not now. We need new TH11's.

I agree with OP. I wish TH10 would get some attention. It's been unbalanced a LONG TIME and the game experience at TH10 is different than all other levels (warring and looting). I guess the TH10's that can't gem to TH11 or rush will just grind walls, defences and Heros. There is nothing else to do. They will remain bored at war at prey the inevitable TH11 loot pillage will leave enough to upgrade something. If not.....?

But TH9s aren't that easy to 3 star because they require some effort and skill. An average TH9 player will 2 star most TH9s, whereas a great TH9 player will obtain more 3 stars. I'm in a clan with more than 60% TH9s and there are always TH9s that hasn't been three starred at the end of battle day, both from our clan and our opposition. I have never seen a clan that has all of its TH9 bases three starred during war. TH8s is a different story because you can easily spam hogs or dragons to three star a base. See the difference? TH9 requires much more effort, whereas TH8 don't need as much.

I agree. I have been at Town Hall 10 for just a few months and have probably at least 7-9 months to fully max (maybe not walls) but I cannot really think of a good reason to stay here. I wouldn't be able to loot TH9s anymore, but TH10s have way more loot and the new hero will allow me to loot TH10s with relative ease. I also would be better able to defend my loot. I was planning to hunker down at TH10 for the long haul, but this update has made me change my mind. This, of course, is with the understanding that they may yet add something to this update for TH10. At this point though, it seems that there is no good reason to upgrade from TH9 to TH10 and no good reason to stay there if you already are. I will mention that I really wouldn't care and would stay at TH10 if they weren't changing the TH snipe situation...but now I have to actually defend against TH11 raids. Repeatedly. I'm going to need that eagle artillery to effectively do that. At least it appears that way right now. We shall see...

requiring effort and understanding of troop mechanics and pathing is different than it being hard... but i see as you just want easy 3 stars if using the right team as the average joe just gowipes for 2 stars

I agree with what you say 100%. Why stay at th10 when you can go to th11 and get extra defenses and be able to defend at a somewhat stronger rate. Since upgrades cost more at th10 it will have more loot for the th11 to steal from and also lots of not as strong base people will move to th11 which means that th11 can attack other th11 without penalty. Also, with th11 it will now be easier to 3 star th10s so this th level will end up being more effective to have in war.
However on the downside of things, th11 look like they will be very hard to 3 star unless a player has mastered clash. I have a th9 acc. that is my mini (all walls legos and going to lava) with relatively low heroes (15 for both) yet I am able to 3 star other th9 using golaloon. If th9 can master attacking other th9 then th10 can master attacking other th10;which means that th11 will be able to, after practice, master attacking other th11 bases.

Finally someone correcting these idiots that believe that the introduction of TH11 means it will balance TH10. So far the sneak peaks have shown nothing that will help balance TH10 but here's hoping it's around the corner.

I do have to disagree on some points. TH8 is pretty balanced IMO. The only sure way to 3 star a max TH8 is with careful deployment of hogs or some hybrid with them. Dragons is definitely not a sure way though it can be achieved and the gowipe is the same, sticking true to its name of a two star strategy. Also TH10 does not need a new hero. Especially when the new hero also defenses so your just ending up at the same point you started. Remove Warden defense ability at TH10. It's not that hard to do.

We need something to make it easier for a TH10 to 3 star another TH10.

I posted a thread exactly like this and it got merged into the sneak peeks (not sure why, hope this thread isn't merged, because this is a big problem)

I also agreed in my post that the hero could be the balance against infernos that th10 could be. The problem with that right now is that it turns into a defense building on defense and that part is coming tomorrow.

If the hero isn't the answer then something else HAS to be. Th10 two star Attacks should not the basis for war. It should entirely be possible to three star a th of same level/max troops for that town hall level. If not then an offensive buff is needed. The DE spell was good addition and now we're getting a donated spell but that will be needed for later CC additions (think; two dragons)

I have three starred a town hall 10 once in the past year, that was of quality. Rushed town hall levels don't matter to me, so I didn't count them. You have to be extremely precise and execute like a pro to have any shot. I always preach to members to learn how to get there troops to where they need to go because at higher town halls it is essential.

I hope something comes for town hall 10, we desperately need to find some sort of balance. Town hall 8 and 9 can perfectly three star another of their level with precision, and it needs to hold true to town hall 10 too.

Do u guys not realize that BALANCE is a bad thing for SC. Th9 had a great balance and players chose to stay there. The intentions of this update was to make SC more money. So if they wreck the balance of th9, do nothing to help out th10s and add a new th11 it will entice ppl to move up and SPEND!

That's what I'm saying. People are scared of town hall 10. Because it sucks. It took me awhile to get deploying down, a lot of people don't have the patience. I have made videos to help my clan learn.

People don't upgrade and turtle because town hall 10 is a joke right now. You really have to be on your A game, and heaven forbid you get mismatched with a completely maxed base (happened to me 5 times so far, im 3/5 for two star attacks)

Town hall 10 isn't really fun, you can't plan an attack like you do for 9. You just try running through until you hit that brick wall, especially if you don't have max heros.

This is actually true. You see a perfect balance on TH9, while on TH8 and 7 you see an unbalanced offense vs defense. Same with TH10, you see an unbalanced defense vs offense. But, while on lower THs few things can be done, on TH10 you can actually add a new dark troop or the first 5 levels of new hero and get rid of the imbalance, promoting more 3 star attacks vs most bases. However, I also think that the last TH level in the game should be exorbitantly difficult to 3 star at max level with a great base. However, as expected if you attack a lower TH then you are going to crush it very easily... But that's not balancing the game since its expected to 3 star a lower TH.

TL;DR, If you can 3 star with some skill (but not soooo easy like TH7 drag) a TH9, then why at TH10 3 starring is soooooo difficult vs maxed bases? I think supercell should take care of this "unbalancing" on defense and actually let you get the new hero (atleast 5 levels) at TH10.
Thats IMO......

i detail attacks exactly on how th 9s can 3 star other 9s. and its easy to do when theres a formula thats no where near precise for 3 star when someone tells you how, i dont see the skill in that. th 10 requires precise execution and sometimes even extremely fast placement and multi tasking other troop placement to spell placement in the matter of fractions of seconds sometimes. as th 9 you can be more laid back and just focus on one thing at a time, no rush. heck you can even save a spell or 2 sometimes and still 3 star as th 9. i viewed other's opinions on it and they believe that 3 star should be near impossible but still viable. not everyone can do it if they have an idea of what they should be doing which th 10 3 stars are near impossible

I do think TH8 is pretty balanced too. Hence, that's why I only said it needs a slight buff to the defensive side. However, I think dragons are pretty much easy 3 star strategies now. With the introduction of the EQ spell, players are now able to take down an air defense with two lightning and one EQ spells, and bring an extra spell with them (usually a rage spell) to ensure the drags kill the remaining two air defenses.

Hogs are pretty easy to use. The only thing you need to worry about are the CC troops and double giant bombs before you mass spam your hogs. There is only one possible double-giant-bomb trap, and most of the time the defense don't have it (they have their giant bombs separated). CC is easily taken out of the equation by luring them out. Though, perhaps you're right since this does require some degree of skill. Maybe my TH8 clanmates are just that good.

I don't mind if SC don't give the new hero to TH10 as long as they buff its offense. Perhaps a new spell, DE troop, or level of troops will do.

No ne is saying that TH11 will balance TH10. They're saying that the TH11 update should help to bring balance.

Just because a base can easily three star a lower level TH base, doesn't mean that TH level of the latter is balanced.

For example, take a look at TH8s. TH9s can easily three star TH8s but does that mean TH8 is balanced? No. You can only say TH8 is balanced when you're comparing TH8s with TH8s, offensively and defensively. Right now, TH8s need a slight defensively buff since all TH8 dragon, gowipe, and hogs attack can three star a TH8 base with ease.

If you want to take a look at a near-perfectly balanced TH level, TH9 is a great example of that. The offensive and defensive weight of TH9 are pretty much equal. This means all TH9 bases can be three starred by other TH9s. "Anti-three-star" bases can actually be three starred in TH9. You just need to find the weakness of that base and adapt your attacking style to it to exploit that weakness.

At the moment, TH10 is unbalanced simply because of the existence of anti-three star bases in TH10. There are TH10s that cannot be three starred by TH10, and frankly, any TH10 base that can be three starred by TH10 is a poorly designed base. The infernos that are introduced in TH10 are major defensive obstacles that prevents three star attacks in TH10. What TH10 needs right now is an offensive buff that will help tackle its strong defensive weight. The new hero could be the offensive buff that is needed to balance TH10.

So this logic of TH(X) is now balanced because TH(X+1) is introduced doesn't have any logical sense to it. If you're comparing two different TH levels, then of course one of them is always going to smash the other. That is the mechanics of the game.

I personally think it will, but just to make things not overpowered, TH10s should only have access to the hero up to a certain level (level 5 for example), while TH11s can upgrade him to the max level (which is level 20 as of now).

No, TH8 has no need for defensive buffs. Sure Hogs and Dragons can 3 star at TH8 but you will still need to plan it properly and it is not easy as what you guys say. Not all bases can be easily 3 starred by GoWiPe alone or Dragons or Hogs alone, it still needs some planning and proper army selection.

Yes, TH10 do need some kind of an offensive buff more than just a dark spell donation.
