level 5 air defences are 1080000 gold. and yes you should get them, because it does the highest damage against flying units. but only upgrade 1 at a time

Murphy's law will kick in and it'll be mostly air attacks, just do one at a time it'll keep you from worrying about that builder for a while. Good luck.
