I currently have 1900 trophies. I am wondering if I really need to upgrade my air defenses to level 5, because dragon attacks are rare. they cost me 4080000 to upgrade, and I could use those gold on some other things. What do you guys think?

If your gonna go on a trophy push soon yes. Air attacks are heavy past 2400 usually
All out dragon attacks are indeed rare - but upgraded air defenses help immensely against them.
But other upgrades such as teslas and archer towers also slow them down - as well as every other type of unit.
So are you saying that it's not necessary to upgrade them? I have 3 Level 5 and a level 4 tesla already. I also have xbows and level 10 archer towers.Quote:

Once flying units become a nuisance again, that is the time to upgrade.
Absolutely necessary. When I do dragon raids I love seeing level 4 and below air defenses. And when you get up into the 2200 trophy range you'll be destroyed by air attacks without well upgraded air defenses.

From a building point of view you don't get attacked by such armies often, so doing things like mortars & wizard towers first makes sense.
But don't completely forget air defense, it will bite you on the ♥♥♥ one day if you do so.
yeah I had lvl 2 and 3 for a long time and saw nothing but air troops, and not strong ones either. With only two, one gets taken out by lightning and its even worse. But lvl 4 seems to be a huge breakpoint, like lvl 5 mortars.Quote:
