Matchmaking: it MUST be a HUGE BUG

I saw hundred of wars but this time something is really wrong.

i put the tag of both clans, maybe somebody from supercell will explain me. the war starts today, 3-12.

ok, what happend?

on top there are only th8 on both side, BUT we are only 2 with gowipe (me: pekka3, golem1, wallbreaker and wizards5. the other one of my clan has: pekka1, golem1, wall/wiz 5). on the other side they have SIX (6) SIX again SIX players with gowipe. 3 of them with pekka3 and golem2 (wall/wiz at 5, obviously). in my clan nobody has golem at 2. plus, only 2 of us have dragons at 3 while on the other side they have FIVE (5) FIVE FIVE players with dragons at 3. i'm not considering other things like hogs/minions etc...we are weaker even there.

i'm the only one (being the number 1 of my clan) having 3 air defences at 6. from the other side ALL PLAYERS FROM 1 TO 5 have all the air defences at 6.

i'm the only one with maxed defences for th8, on the other side ALL PLAYERS FROM 1 TO 5 have all the defences at maximum.

try to tell me that this is normal, i didn't laugh enough so far.

Hello, the reason that their troop levels are higher than normal is due to clan level 5 Perks where each donated troop is one level higher.

My clan is level 6. I was not talking about that, I am saying that they have 6 players with the gowipe (we are 2) and 3 of them have golems at 2 AS BASE while none of us have them

So they will 2 star your bases with their Gowipe. Do you have hogs level 4 to 3 star their bases?

First off, offense doesn't matter much in war weight. Second, how long did you leave the war search running (not intended to be snide)?

Yeah and I think there is a table somewhere that calculates base weight, which depends on how much buildings have been upgraded. This most likely helps with matchup. I found it...here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=538532539

this match is not fair... but winnable given your top player attacks 1 and 2, #2 attack 3 and 4, etc.
There is worse, the impossible matchup, where a townhall 9 top player is matched with a th10 with maxed defense and 35/35 heroes. did we have a chance? no way. at least your top player seems equal to theirs.

First off, you didn't answere a question above. Hoe did the war take to search?

Next, not all wars are fair. Just loose and win the next one and so one. Not a big deal like your going to get 1,000 for winning or 500 gems of so what.

it can't work. i am the only one with pekka3, on the other side all players from 1 to 5 have all defences at maximum.

not at all, they have 6 gowipe and 2 of them got golems2. we are in two with the gowipe, me with pekka3 and golem1 my other player with pekka1 and golem1...we are not equal!!

we won 81 wars in a row, never been defeated. do i have to stay quiet and say "you've lost your first war without deserve it"?"

I was just saying, Gowipe is a garbage attack that can 3 star only poor open space layouts, so knowing level of Gowipe troops doesnt say much.

I've warred in a TH8-and-lower clan for months. Opponents bases may have all the maxed defenses they can have but if they're internet layouts and you have lv4 Hogs you can wreck them.

And matchmaking has much worse to offer, believe me XD just dont search for more than 15/20 mins

Something similar happened to our clan couple wars ago. Most likely your lower town halls were stronger than theirs

Never search for a war more than 10-15 mins, you will get ridiculous matchups. It isn't a bug though, every clan has been paired to a ridiculous match lol.

Right but I don't understand the relation between fair matchmaking and time of search.

And still i don't understand how is possible to find 6 players with gowipe when we are 2 and 5 with maxed defences when I am the only one in my clan. If is not a bug means that this game just sucks reallllyyyy deeppp

Algorythm widens its search as time passes, that's why

I feel like I am uselessly repeating myself in telling Gowipe doesn't win wars at TH8. Upgrade your hogs, don't even waste 22 lab days on Pekkas. If your clan has no Hogs level 4 then start upgrading them

Something else that could be the effect of them having higher level troops are the walls. If your guys have all level 7 walls or 8 and they only have 5 and 6 walls then that would baLance out in a war. I've seen it tons of times. I've been matched up against th10's before and I'm a th9 that doesn't have maxed defesnes but his defesnes were of a th7 and th8 level but had 2 infernos and 3 xbows. Fair?? Not really but with good planning I achieved 83% and 2 stars on him. If your awesome with the gowipe and others aren't explain to them in game and that would help out. Make sure you guys have awesome bases. Good luck

Anyways....the matchmaking system isn't perfect, so you can't expect to get a fair match every time. As an example: Our lvl 2 clan is matched up against a lvl 5 clan, and we only have TH8s while they have 1 TH9. War starts today...

Clan levels are not taken into consideration when searching for a war. You can also not rely on TH levels as all that matters is the total offensive and defensive power of the whole clan.

I'm browsing through a lot of threads on clan wars matchmaking, unfortunately there seems to be as many opinions and 'facts' as players out there...

Currently I'm seriously considering not to engage in wars for a while. The reason is that the clan I'm in continues to get matched against unarguably stronger clans. Forget about stopping search and starting again, forget about trying to level out the line-up in wars (bringing lower bases in, or having very similar strength bases only), we have tried it all. For about six months with 1 or 2 wars per week, we have had this experience. What puzzles me is that if it were true that the algorithm is not very good and will sometimes match unfairly, then over a period of time you should be able to experience both sides - meeting much stronger opponents AND much weaker. But no dice - we keep getting stronger opponents. And I'm not talking stronger but beatable, I'm talking UAE and Chines gemming bonanza clans where we can just discard the top 5-8 villages.

Wherever I seek I fail to get anything, I mean anything, that makes sense out of Super Cell. I have a few friends who are also clashers, and they have similar experiences.

So it's really interesting to see so many posts that dig into the details of weight back and forth, so many people that 'knows' exactly how it is, so many people that simply tells anyone with my experience we are not good enough at war etc. For some reason no one can explain why it doesn't even out with stronger and weaker opponents...

i agree with you. probably the problem is that COC is a game created for kids (the average age of players is 12-15) and they just can't notice all the little details about what's working and what's not. Or maybe they just don't care, because are kids. The SC just doesn't care about it, they get the money from those kids in any case, and so the experienced players pay the fee.

i considered that fact, but is not the case. the number 1 of enemy clan was a maxed th8 with all walls at level 8.

looks very similar to the spreadsheet I put out over a year ago with a fellow clasher.....seems the numbers were tweaked a bit. Who ever has the sheet did not keep my formula for wall weight/troops/spells and overall base HP. If weight is 0-99 or 1-100, each full set/level of walls = 2 to 5 weight points depending on wall level...Roughly a full set of lvl 11 walls = 5 weight points, lvl 10 =4.5, lvl 9 = 3.8, lvl 8 = 3, lvl 7 = 2. We had a few TH7, TH8, TH9 and TH10 upgrade only walls and kept track of their war weighting for each full level of walls they completed and came up with the multiplier. It was consistent for each one. Happy wall upgrading.... and heroes weigh more than are on the sheet link, the multiplier is every hero ability level, not every level.

I did see a thread a few months back that had a theory that if you're winning a lot of wars the matchmaking will eventually look to match you up with a much stronger clan. I'm not sure where that thread is now but essentially what the player who came up with it was suggesting was that about every 9th war in a winning streak you would face a stronger opponent.

I didn't think too much of this at the time but must admit that we have had a few very easy match ups in wars just recently where we for example we will face a clan with 10-15 th9s against our th 10's in 50v50 wars. Once war starts it becomes fairly obvious that we are facing a clan that has a very tenuous grip on the understanding of what fair play means if you know what I mean! I can only speculate but I suspect they have a very long win streak and that has resulted in them facing us.

I wonder if something like this is the reason why you have got the tougher matchup?

incidentally one of these clans we faced used all their th9 attacks on our top bases getting 0% on each and then amazingly 3 starred the same bases with the th10 attacks meaning that we still ended up losing the war despite picking up about 20 3 stars ourselves!

I'm new to the forum, but not new to coc. I'm here browsing to try and resolve 2 issues I've been having, one with my chat and the other with strange match-ups in war search.

With regards to the war search, our last SEVERAL wars we have been matched up against a fully maxed out defense TH10. Last war for example, their number 1 has all At 13, all mortar 8, all cannon 13, all wt 8, all xbow 4, all teslas 8 and both infernos 3. 3/4 the walls are 10 the rest 9. King 27 Queen 35. All his troops are maxed.

By way of comparison, my base is our 1, all AT 11, all mortars 7, all cannons 12, all wt 7, all xbow 4, all teslas 8 and both infernos 2. 1/3 of my walls 9 the rest 8. King 11, Queen 10. I have maxed Ba,Ar,Gi,Lo,Wi,He,Pe,Ho,Wit. Gol 4.

So I understand that there's more info likely needed, and I do get the sense that crying about war match-up is tired in the forums. However, our new war opponent today has their top player at th10 without even an inferno, walls similar to mine and a couple less maxed troops than mine as well.

Why the stark difference? I've been leading this clan for one year and have 83 wins, likely as many losses, lvl 7 clan and never seen such a change.

Both searches took about the same 20 mins time.

I get that this is likely a very noob-ish post so flame away if you must.

How were their lower bases?

If they have 5 max bases but 8 very low bases then the war weight average will shift to a clan that might have mostly max TH9s through TH4's

List of the players are not visible...and Always we get the same country as opposition mostly..
