Town Hall Level 8 Buff Request
I would like to suggest that TH 8 get some buffs to their defensive and/or offensive capabilities. What I would suggest is adding an X bow or more traps to TH 8. An alternative would be unlocking the Jump spell but I feel TH 8 is more balanced on offense compared to defense. This is what I feel would balance it more to make TH 8 more... bearable. I'm going to be honest, TH 8 is the most frustrating TH Level compared to all other levels from personal experience. The rest of the post is going to sound a little rant-y but there is some solid information in there, I promise.:)
I currently own 2 accounts: a Town Hall 9 and a Town Hall. Both currently maxed on defense and for offense I have the troops I deem useful maxed out for the TH level so I have a large familiarity to how they hold out in similar situations. Here are a few things I have noticed:
Defense:
- When attacked by similar armies of a superior TH level (i.e. TH 10 and TH 9 respectively) the Th 9 will take relatively minor damage averaging ~40% while the TH 8 will take a significant hit at ~75% damage. In other words, the TH 9 will get 3 starred on a bi-monthly basis from serious attacks while the TH 8 will be 3 starred on a bi-daily basis. Currently my TH 8 is sitting in Silver 3 and my TH 9 is at Champs 3 to give you a rough idea on the severity of attacks that are being thrown at them
Offense:
- On the case of offense, TH 8 compared to TH 9 is nearly incomparable in sheer attack potential. Ignoring the minor buffs to troops via levels the TH 8 does not get much in offence compared to a TH 7 (I'll be ignoring troop increases to Army Camps and Clan Castle as it is a standard for most TH upgrades):
- 5 King levels
- Dark Spell factory (Poison and Earthquake)
- PEKKA, Valkyries, Golems
- 1 Spell slot
I'll admit, offense gets a whole lot stronger with Golems, Poison, and occasionally the EQ spell. However, these are typically not practical from a farming stand point as obtaining Dark Elixir at TH 8 or less is difficult and is even harder to defend as explained above. However is still a challenge to 3 star a max TH 7 with a cost-efficient farming composition.
Now comparing TH 8 to the offensive buffs of TH 9:
- Archer Queen and upgrades up to level 30 along with King
- Witches and Lava Hounds
- Jump spell and 2 more spell slots
- Haste spell
Witches and Lava Hounds drastically increase the variety of attacks you can launch on their own. The jump spell is an extremely useful farming tool, using easy to obtain Elixir compared to EQ spells and using half the spell slots to instantly remove walls from the equation of an attack. Haste is not incredible game changing as it synergies best with air based attacks which TH 8 is lacking in without the Lava Hound. Now the biggest change is the Archer Queen. It is a absurdly powerful boost to the offensive potential of a TH 9, which in a farming situation, will attack a TH 8.
Keeping this all in mind, with just the addition of the extra jump and archer queen, when I farm with my TH 9 I can 3 star ~95% of TH 8 base with the troop composition of 4 Wall breakers, 96 archers, 96 barbs, 3 heals, 1 jump, and both heroes. With my TH 8 attacking the same base with the same troops, no jump nor archer queen, I can 3 star ~25% of the time.
Hopefully this can be looked into and have some form of change made for TH 8 as I do feel it is lacking in defense heavily for how much loot is required for the upgrades. I would definitely consider adding at least 1 X bow, TH 8 seems to have a huge influx of Elixir near the point where upgrading the TH is the only remaining building upgrade. Might as well give us something to use all the extra elixir on, right?:smirk:
