I was waiting to see how it would all tie together... And I'm extremely underwhelmed. How the heck am I supposed to reliably farm when I have heroes upgrading? I can opt out of wars, but no queen for a week while trying to attack TH10s? Not happening. I'll likely just continue to barch and hope the dead bases are still viable to farm.
I'm generally pretty understanding of the changes to the game. I get the idea that we might have to give up an oversight in the game (th sniping) in order to get something else and make the game more logical/fairer.
Taking everything into consideration, I do think that farming may be a little slower though (note I'm not saying it's dead, just slower), because we will be more likely to loose a bigger chunk of our loot before we get a shield. I'm a maxed defense th9 with lvl 20/20 heroes. With the escalating DE cost of each upgrade and 7 days build time, I reckon it would take a minimum of 6 months to get them to lvl 30/30 (probably longer), before the update.
Now with the changes this could add an extra month or 2 onto this. 6+ months is too long for any game to be doing exactly the same thing, so if CoC are not going to make hero upgrades cheaper or DE farming easier, they will need to figure out a way to keep us motivated for this long.
No sign of improvements to clan wars that I can see.
Still hopeful for something else to help.
I think what you are missing in your equation is failed attacks onrich bases (30%) will have all those bases shielded for most of the day so it will get worse that THs outside walls.
But yes mostly everything you are saying is true. They are nerfing the loot in the game. They are forcing us to build expensive armies. Barching at TH8+ is effectively dead. As to the first 2 sneak peeks, I dont think they realize a failed 30% raid is going to create so many shields it is going to be worse than TH sniping. The problem I see more than anything now that I have read the village guard concept, the win bonus and the shield revamps is that I believe that supercell is fully rewarding the first mover advantage of those who sniped/climbed up to titans with the 3hr village guard. How do they not realize the unintended consequences of the arbitrary 15min/1hr/2hr/3hr tiers by league? If you reset everyone to zero trophies then perhaps this would be fair. It is clear the th8s and 9s in titans will soon fall out of those leagues (which is fair) but what is not fair is limiting my play time to get to the higher leagues. Leaders of clans specifically have duties that are not always just about farming resources. It is about making war plans with their clan. Giving me a total of 3hrs versus the previous 6 or (5hrs if I purchase your rubbish guard for 10 gems a day) is just limiting the time i can devote to my clan. Assuming that everyone is a th10 and can defend against one is really inconsiderate too. Clearly we th9s and lower have a harder time now to get to th10 based on less time to double or 3x boost barracks and because you are getting us raided before we want to get off. The truth is no one was buying the overpriced 100/150/200 gem shields and electing to use the smarted player negotiate truce of a 1000 of each resource and a TH snipe for a shield in return for a few trophies and the win bonus. They could have easily just stopped paying out a bonus for under 30% destruction but that wasn't their goal. Their goal was to raise gem revenue. So in-game innovation went out the window so supercell execs can try to raise the revenues of their failing business model. Like all businesses that start to decline instead of spending their revenue in the right place and listening to their clientele they are raising their prices and changing their model thinking the clientele won't notice. WE ARE NOTICING.
Why do not get rewarded league bonus for defensive wins? That too would encourage skilled bases just as much as attacking.
I think the rushers have the right idea. I'm going to TH10 pretty much ASAP and dropping infernos. There's no reason to waste your time maxing out now that you can't get an easy shield and will get rolled by upper THs if you try to save loot.
Ok, off to get my abacus...I'll need it to not only to work out how much loot I get at each percentage level compared to the available loot each time I hit 'next' (I expect the scouting time of each next is increased to 20 mins while we work it out), but it will certainly come in handy trying to work out the times I am actually allowed to play now...no need to use it for how many gems I will buy each week now as the answer is zero.
I understand you guys have a tough time on here and you are simply trying to explain what the developers have created, so good luck with this update, because so far it is a complete mess.
i think you are right, players will benefit more from pushing into higher leagues even if you are a farmer.
you still will be using full armies to raid but will get that additional league bonus too in higher leagues.
dont think collector raids in gold or lower will be as profitable now, thoughts?
