...everytime I get sniped (currently in champs3) I loose anything from 8 to 17 trophies (not from revenges) .
The most I can make however is 23 per attack and that is very rare. On average I loose 11cups per snipe and make 10cups per attack. Do the math to see it will not work out inthe new system, and on top of everything, I will then never get a shield, so can only protect my resources by being on all the time 24/7.

I am a war clan leader, so on a huge amount of time for war day (we war back to back). This also makes for a farmer as I want the best base I can for wars, so that more time on non war days.
As a farmer all my gem from trees etc go to boost barracks.
If I now need to spend an extra 10 gems to get 5 hours of raiding, instead of the 6 hours I get pre update. (note can do this one per day as well only). You might now see why I am not happy with the idea?

Yes I can see that, but its tough to please everybody. But I do think that in the overall picture for most people these changes are an improvement. Lets see how it goes once the update comes. There are allot more sneak peeks coming so there might be something that will help you as well. Stay positive its only sneak peek 2 out of 14.
This seems pretty well thought out, and I think the overall effect will be very positive, BUT:
I think it's a mistake to add an additional concept. "Village Guard" will give a lot of confusion. It would be (have been) better to formulate it all as shielding with a strong and a weak version. Getting attacked for less than 30% gives you a little "weak shield" time, being attacked for more % gives you time on the strong shield.
When the strong shield times out it crumbles into a weak shield with a crumbly look. When the weak shield runs out you should be able to get attacked - regardless of whether you're online or not. And attacking substracts from strong shield, not from weak shield.
One concept, same effect, much simpler to explain.
Oh no, please just no! Not only is this the first post I have seen regarding this, but all our smartest forum members now need to adjust the very simple calculation systems the have developed to deal with this fantastic part of the update that is shielding/Village Guard.

Edit: Nobody has any idea about this part as far as I know, your guess is as good as mine mate.
To summarise this, they are basically fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed and has rarely been complained about so a general backlash is inevitable. There are a lot more other issues in the game that could be focused on that are more important to be dealt with than this. But after all this is a two week sneak peek period and they always release the worst peeks first so expect(hope for) them to get a lot better.

...well you could always start your boost within the first hour of your PBtimer, but if you fail to do that, then yes,you will loose out a few minutes of your boost, every time your PBtimer runs out. This you can only prevent by buying 2hrs worth of VG which will not only add 2hrs to your PBtimer, but also prevent your base from being attacked during that period.
It will also mean, that you can safely log off between raids for the duration of army build time as long as the VG is not used up, this will then doubly prolong your PBtimer, as this timer will be on hold while you're off.
The probably best strategy for the longest possible session would therefor be to boost late into your PBtimer, then buy a VG for 2hrs even later, and start logging off during army build time. Your boost might run out during your VG, but once that is the case, army build time is longer and you can stay off line longer too, allowing for more on-line time after VG ends, because after VG runs out, you will still have time left on your PBtimer.
In short:
Log on and stay on,
then boost,
then buy VG and log off between raids,
then come back on and stay on once Vg is used up until PBtimer runs out

then put your TH out and hope for a snipe
come back on for 15 minutes
-
(repeat this proceedure two more times)

you're back to 3hrs PBtimer either after three snipes, or if you get a shield (regardless of winning ondefence or loosing).

no fun. i spend 70 gems boosting 4 rax, heros and spells. i use barch, it is ready while i'm browsing and attacking, i don't wait for 4 spells or both heros ready, because heros lv 25 even with boosts take time to recover, so i go with barch, 2 boosts and 1 or 2 or without heros. depends on what is ready. i try to make more raids possible in 2h. so you say to do all those calculations, log out, log in, buy guard, count time...no fun really
Does attacking while in a shield count toward the PBT?
So if the attacker deploys one troop then ends the battle to drop trophies, does the defender still end up with one of those village guards?
Actually no. If you don't get a shield, be it at 30% damage done to your village, then no Village Guard either.
You get extra time as "Village Guard" of 15 minutes if you are in Champions 1 and below, 1 hour if you are in Titan 3, 2 hours if in Titan 2 and 3 hours if you are in Titan I or Legend league ONLY after your shield expires.
With this not only they force people to get attacked at least once every 3 hours (or 5 if extended with gems), but they also force people to go higher leagues for the more "Village Guard" time, thus giving something to attack to all those that got up top into Titan leagues. I bet the changes in loot bonuses will also encourage this.
So much for casual playing in whatever league you feel comfortable and don't have to worry about getting steamrolled by people that can afford to gem or boost barracks and be online almost the entire day. :facepalm:
Again, there will be more loot cos those with decent defenses and a decent layout won't get attacked as often would get with a simple TH snipe in order to save the over night resources production, so will most likely be available to be attacked by stronger attackers.

3. Kick out 6 minutes (first kick-out)
a) th outside: you have a chance to minim 6 th snipes in a row: NO SHIELD
b) th inside: no defense no shield; wake defense no shield; defense 30% and 50% army then shield
4. After 6 minutes back to game for 15 minutes
5. kick out for 6 minutes (second kick-out)
again you have a chance to minim 6 th snipes in a row: NO SHIELD
6. after 6 minutes back to game for 15 minutes
7. kick out for 6 minutes (third kick-out)
again you have a chance to minim 6 th snipes in a row: NO SHIELD
8. after 6 minutes back to game for 3 hours
so you have a chance to lose minim 30 - 40 cups during theese 18 minutes if th outside
Repeat these steps again and again and in one day you go down to 0 cups ....

This update has took a lot of work and I believe it will make the game better. I think more attacking will be encouraged and strong defences will be rewarded. I look forward to the update.

The village guard will kill the game for top tiers, the PBT will kill the game for farmers/war clans, and super queen will destroy the game entirely thanks to the 50% army comp rule. I certainly hope there is more to the update to counteract all this bad news!
Picture this, when a max level base gets hit, 30%-60% destruction will earn a 12-14 hour shield. Add the 3 HOUR VG to that, plus the 2 additional hours these guys are definitely going to buy, and you're looking at a 17-19 hour shield for all top level players every time they get hit. I've never been anywhere near titan league, but seeing as how a village is only available every 17-19 hours, is this really any better than the way it used to be? Oh, and not to mention that if they DEFEND against a weak attack, they'll get 3 hours for that too.
Everyone knows why the PBT is going to hurt us, but now that i cant get a cheap shield, or sit online until i've accumulated enough gold to upgrade my wizard towers, how am i ever going to save up 6.4 million gold? how am i ever to save 7 million elixir to upgrade archers without being protected? I'm going to remain a target until someone hits my base hard enough to give me a shield. How many times will i get attacked before that happens? How much will each person take from me before i get hit hard enough for a shield? (See super queen below to really make this hit home) Now lets kick it up a notch and talk TH11. You know, they're going to have to upgrade storages right? I'm assuming 10 million max storage. 10 million resources will be entirely unachievable without gemming. I'd even argue that under the current system, 8 million resources is unachievable without gemming. But now that i can only play for 3 hours at a time without gemming anything, ill never get anywhere near 8 million again.
Now picture this, you're a lonely farmer, trying to rack up enough DE to upgrade heroes to lvl 10, or golems to lvl 2, and you need somewhere in the neighborhood of 60k dark elixir, which i remind you isn't even a lot. You boost your barracks, ( which will cost you 40-60 gems ) and you manage to get up to 45k. Now, before we could be okay with that, we'll get it tomorrow, or tonight. Or you can spend another 40-60 gems boosting again, but don't forget about the 10 gems you need to spend for the extra VG, to boost again to hit the 60k you were aiming for. 90-130 gems later. Assuming you don't do that, you log off. 45k is pretty successful in two hours IMO, now you get hit by a super queen, over, and over, and over, and over. never using 50% army comp, taking 2000-2500 of your DE each time, until you literally have nothing left. We will never be able to protect our loot with this new system. Does supercell realize that someone could 100% my base and use 49% of their army, and not give me a shield? i know that if that scenario occurred it would be a very under leveled base, but everyone knows they're out there.
I'm very aware supercell is a business, and business' need to make money, but for these reasons, i believe they are making the game worse for every player. High and low. Id love feedback on this, i've read carefully, i understand all the rules, i'm not confused on how anything works, i do get it. And i still don't like it.
Due to this being a zero sum game, meaning the loot youwin is someone else lost, you cannot damge everybody, when someone lose more due to a game change, someone else is winning more. If you play this game smartly you can be part of those benefitting from the new system
I have used super queen, and unless your base is badly designed,mis hard to steal something worthy without reaching a 50% of army,mbecause you need to use some troops for funneling. Also not everybody use the super queen. Just design your base in a way that you force super queen users to funnel, and dont rush your base.
after three hours you will be offline for 18 minutes separated in three periods IF no one does more than a 30% and normaly more than a 30% is required to steal something from you, so they will be able only to steal from you once, because they will likely give you a shield, and maybe they might not steal that much.
also mind that everybody will be in your same situation, meaning when you are searching bases there will be more vulnerable players, so now you can find more easily bases with more resources... Likely that better designed bases will have more resources due to how the new system works, meaning you will be rewarded for being a good attacker.
overall this system rewards you for being a good attacker. And a good defense.

When I was pushing to champs, it took more than 6 minutes every time to get attacked. That was with full storages, luring farmers to attack me, later on I put my DE storage closer to the edge in order to shorten the time between attacks, resulting in high loss of DE.
In the new system, I will make sure to have as little loot as possible (and protecting the hell out of the little loot I have) when I get kicked out of the game, so I will be attacked even less likely? That would mean 3 consecutive 6 minute waiting periods with 15 minutes of village guard in between? Thats (6*3)+(15+3) = 1 hour 3 minutes of not being able to attack just because I don't get raided?

The whole point of the game has -always- been about having no life in order to farm or push like crazy. This reducing of the personal break is just some convoluted and dumb way of making people spend more money in the game. What they did not and are not seeing coming is that this will sink their own ship. How could one actually play a game if they're too worried about PSB and VG ♥♥ scheme? It's going to break the entire system.

They did not boost league bonus much at alllll!! Crystal 1 went from 65k to 70k... And now u get bonus based on percentage destroyed!
The th is now worth one gold n elixir storage put together of loot sooo u have to absolutely protect it if u care about ur loot! Goblins will now go after th aswell as its a loot source! Sorry if this have been answered. The problem with trap is has to manually rearmed. Most of the time if my base survived two or three attacks with no shield the last attacker will have the biggest loot with all my traps have been activated prior to his attack.

Agreed, and it's amazing to me how this is playing out. I'm not going to stomp my feet and talk about "gem boycotts" or quitting the game - I'll still like the game and play it.
Yet to go from being able to get three 2-hour boosts in before getting kicked off, to only one, is just plain stupid. "Encouraging people to play more..." Heh, yeah, right....:unsure:
this Personal Break update is very bad: please at least add the option to reset the 3 hours count after the force break of 6 minutes. Double the break time to 12 minutes if you want to give an opportunity to players to attack me.

However my concern as stated above is war. I am a leader in a war clan (karate chimps) off shoot of karate monkey's. I have the top troops in my clan and an on a lot during war to donate. I have been kicked off 2 times in one day for being on to long consequitvely. If I can only be on for 3 hours cummulatively before being kicked off for a undetermined time this negatively affects my clan and possibly causes me to miss a war attack. I don't care about trophy pushing so why is supercell harming what I and many others do care about. Don't say the pushers spend all the money cause I have spent plenty.
Supercell please remove the 3 hour cummulative timer part and the indefinite time off. I rarely get attacked or have a shield already even when I go to bed with no shield.

Will we be able to view this time with the in-game interface?
If not, I think it would be a great addition to the update. I think it would be great to help people plan their time better, especially since COC time is generally a few minutes off from my own time.

Do you know what people achieve with the current system? Progress. In the bigger picture, they simply dont want people to progress so fast. Maybe designing the whole TH11 layout (knowing that a lot of player are in end-game Th10 state) traumatize them, so this is what they came up with. For the lesser THs, this is simply making people suffer, progress-wise. Solution? gems. Always gems.
So far all I see in the upgrades is a move to push players like me who raid 3-4 times a day to the outside of the game.
My heros take over an hour to upgrade, my army about 45 minutes, and spells, well ... so I come on, I donate, I raid, I chat a bit and then I'm off--Max one hour. I have work. I have a family.
So now, I will likely lose more loot every time I go off line because I can't get a cheap shield (yes, I unashamedly farm with my town hall outside). And while I'm up to designing a base that will encourage raids to 30% destruction, I do worry that the measures are punitive to me and other players like me who don't boost barracks or flash-gem troops and heros. Strange. They punish players like me who come on and off; and they then punish those who play all day.
And to be honest, I don't understand how anyone could play for three hours straight WITHOUT buying huge amounts of gems. In the end, because I can't afford to play for 2-3 hours, these other features are just ridiculous to me. All I see is a money grab from super cell. :thumbsdown:

A lot of absurdity regarding the update has been pointed out there. And the devs should definitely read them. I just made this thread so the title would pop at General.
Can I get a timer in game so I'm not booted during my session, and before I can offload my loot on walls or builders?

I thought personal break was the long mostly permanent break from the game caused by this update?
My only issue is this whole personal break trash. Getting kicked off after 3 hours is one thing, but if you are not attacked you get 15 whole minutes to play before you are kicked again. This can go on and on. As much as I am loving the game I know now if I get kicked off every 15 mins I am gonna get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and drop this thing like a hot rock. How stupid, "we are going to regulate how much you play, AND kick you off to get you playing MORE". Why do game devs think their player base is stupid enough to not notice when they are reaching around to grab your wallet as they bend you over. AMAZING.
Yes, that's one way to look at it. But I just want to make the most out of the update and make it as manageable as possible. Supercell won't change the update at this point. Things might be different after it's released. But until then, my goal is to make it as best as possible.

You can get a 2h village guard for 10 gems all 23h, but there will be a free village guard after normal shield which duration is in champions league and below 15 minutes.

I think my rant in another thread will likely answer all those questions....
"Yes it resets for any shield. But if you are attacked (and lose some goodies), but they quit (manually) before reaching enough to trip your shield 30%, or if you are not attacked in 6 mins you get 15 WHOLE MINUTES to play before you are kicked off again.
This can happen 3 times in a row before you are graciously ALLOWED to play for more than 15 mins again. Of course if you are not attacked you could be continually caught in this loop, and kicked off every 15 mins for 6 mins.... this can go on for 3 HOURS!! I do wonder what happens when you have been building your army, and just start to attack when you get booted (you know for actually playing their game).
Of course YOUR rules change if you bribe the devs with 10 gems. That to me is very funny as the whole supposed purpose of this is to make it more "fair" for everyone. Bribing for extra time is far from fair SC. Amazing they think us dumb enough to actually buy the fecal matter they are peddling."

This is still true. You have to use 50% of the defending base's max army size for the TH level in order to receive a shield. In other words, if you're attacking a th9 (regardless of army camp size), you need to deploy 110 troops to give them a shield. If you're attacking a th10 (regardless of their army camp size), you need to deploy 120 troops to give them a shield. Etc.

If it where 3 hours in a row, and did not take 63 min of unsuccessful attacks or non attacks (if I comprehend it correctly) it wouldn't be so bad. The idea that IF you don't get a real attack and or have to jump through hoops to play a cell phone game without gemming REALLY irritates me.
IF it where to kick in after 3 hours of continuous play and IF there where not this silly "mercy" garbage and just boot your for 6 min then it would be tolerable. But to tell players after being on 3 hours basically randomly (assuming u are not attacked) will be extra annoying. If the game is annoying as it sounds it will be I will indeed quit and the $20 gem purchase I made last week (why I Now regret) will be my last..
i could care less about trophies as I'm not a max base yet (still have some lvl 11 walls and bk is 31 and aq is going to 39)
now with th11 I would plan to farm to max there.. However, if u can't even be a farmer without random interruptions I won't play anymore.
Lastley, all sneak peeks so far seem to be anti farmer / war clan player and will be off putting to many coc serious players

assuming you you have max th10 defenses and no loot you will not get attacked very often esp with the reduced win bonus.. So every 3 hours of play time u get booted. It's my understanding that it's cumulative. I'm talking about the personal break timer when u play without a shield. Which I assume will happen regularly for me.
3 hoirs cumulative and not successive will feel random as I get on and off throughout the day. It's a farce to get you to spend 10 gems

village guard only lasts as long as the personal break, even for Titan+ league unless you gem and get another 2 hours of personal break time.
They will be attacked after that 3 hour period for Titan 1 players. They simply just have a bit of an extension on their shield, as though they came online right as their shield ended
Yes this is correct. Village Guard is a replacement for being online, and as far as the game is concerned, you've been online for three hours and you need to take your personal break.
I think people don't realize there was already a personal break system and it was 6 hours. I highly doubt anyone stays online on their phone for a straight 3 hours, let alone 6.
Well of course there are the hardcore guys, but lets restrict this to 90% of the community.
I don't think you realize that it is not 3 straight hours of play.. It adds up every time you get on until you get a real attack on your base with at least 30% damage and 50% tropps deployed. Now it's if you play 6 strait hours. It's going to be different.
The he worst part is you have to jump through hoops to play when u want to (assuming your base isn't getting attacked and you aren't bleeding resources.
Apologies if this has been answered but if PBT expires, your forced offline, you have 1 hour into a 2 hour boost when you are forced offline does your boost session pause or do they just let it run out?
I hope how much you get attacked gets changed then or that is gonna be bad. I only get attacked at night pretty much unless I have tons and tons of loot. I do get attacked once or twice during the day too but that's only if I have a troll base up. But if we get attacked more we will lose more resources.
Sounds like SC looking for more income, i ever read in this forum about the title is "IS COC DYING?" but i don't see is CoC dying and now i'm realize they are. maybe the game isn't dying but SC is dying where they looking for new way to get more income, don't you see it?? they use a game changing/update reason. they force us to push to the higher league because you will need more shield/VG there and many more changing head for more income.
CoC is a fine game right now but why they make a lot of change on future update where it sounds like MORE MONEY FOR SC. the TH11 upcoming isn't really a TH11 update and i think it just a diversion.

Can u boost barracks during a shield? When they say it reduces the shield when u attack through it is it by 3 hours per attack or 3 hours overall? Does your personal break time take affect during shield time i.e if u attack whilst shielded will this count towards the 3 hour personal break time ur allocated a day?
Big issue with this new 3 hours PB is for the people who are trying to rush without gemming, this will make it impossible.
I'm now above 4600, and I don't gem. They way I play is that I connect for 6 hours session, play 4h15, and then wait 1h45 for my heroes to regenerate so I can take a decent def with heroes available.
With the new PB, I'll be able to play for 1h15 only, meaning only 1 raid, and then will need to wait for my heroes to regenerate. That's a real pity if that doesn't come with heroes being Always available on def just as it is in CW. But I guess this will never happen as lots of top players are gemmers, and they will raid until 5h55 (2h55 + 2h gemmed PB now) and then gem their heroes for their def !
Rushing was already a gemmer's playground, will become even worse !
Guys Actually village guard is not much helpful from the forum u posted. Its acting as just a shield extension. I HAVE AN IDEA ABOUT IT. Place a village guard icon like u placed sttings and message etc icons on game screen. And give 20 to 25 mins of village guard per day to each player. And this renews each day according to any one time zone. If some wants more of village guard time tell them to buy it with gems. In this way village guard will be help full to clashers. But present village guard is looking like shield extension, and nothing more to it. And the mercy rule is also soo complicated. I think its too much. But the present village guard is not apt to its name. So i think u guys will consider this and rethink about it. I may not have explained to u clearly but i have the clarity if the idea..
