Purpose of attacks with only 1 unit?

I am by no means a star player in Clash of Clans, but I really enjoy playing the game. I don't always understand all of the complex strategy discussions. Recently I have been attacked again and again with 1 or 2 troops. I am a premature TH9 who cancelled a TH10 upgrade because I realized I could not defend against higher level, more serious players. I have faired decently considering my premature TH. My trophy count keeps getting higher and higher due to the attacks, I have been driven all the way to 1900 with defense primarily. Is this some type of strategy that I don't know about? I need less trophies in order to get bases that I would actually attack ;) Why are so many people attacking me with one unit? My base is not scary, so I know that isn't it. :confused:

I love this game! And reading all of the posts about strategies and helpful tips.

It's to drop trophy levels. There's a certain trophy range most people like to stay in for best loot.

I guess I need to take this same strategy to lower my trophies also. I am gaining all of those dropped trophies.

its called farming. people drop trophies so they can prey off of the lower levels.

To lose trophies to get to a desired range

make sure to 4x all the DE storages

surprising that you do not know this as a th9.. you must be very premature, what are your wall levels, 2? 3?

Here is some additional information about why they are choosing YOU specifically.

They can drop 1 troop on any base to drop trophies, but they have purposely selected YOU as their target because based on the appearance of your base, they are assuming that you are not strong enough to attack them back with enough force to actually take much resources from them.

I do the same thing when dropping trophies.......... I will look for weak bases to drop a single troop hoping that they're not going to bother attempting a revenge attack.

Like someone else mentioned, check to see if they have a lot of dark elixir to take. If so, spam lightning on their DE storages, that will be pretty sweet revenge (if you can afford it) :)

not many people revenge people who are dropping trophies..

Not gonna lie, I also had this exact same thought (no offense!) I think I learned this tactic on my own at TH5, in the 3rd of 4th week into playing this game.

None taken. My walls are 5,6,7. I just started playing one day and didn't really consider the strategies of the game. This is the first game of this kind I've played on my iPad. It was really just to pass time, but I play so much that I thought I should figure out what was going on. I play Starcraft and some other strategy games on my computer, so this game was soooooo slow in the beginning, I thought I would have quit months ago :cool:

If I do the lightning spell 4 times, it will knock out their DE storage? I'm creating my 3rd one right now. I'll drop the rage spell in another attack so that I can get a 4th.

Too bad I didn't start out on the forums, I would have a much stronger game. Thanks everyone for your help.

I'm catching on, reading the forum posts is helping. :D

They recently increased the number of hit points that DE storages have in the latest update, so it is slightly less profitable to spam lightning spells on DE storages, but you can still get a fair amount of it and since it's a revenge, they can't do anything back to you! You will definitely not fully destroy a storage lvl 2 or higher with just 4 lightning spells though.

Good stuff, I agree, the information in the forum has taught me a lot and made this game a lot more fun to play!

once a time, I attacked other players twenty times in a row with one archer, just wanted to drop trophies, from 1860 to around 1400.

high trophy range, you would get a lot of DE, however, hard to raid more gold.
