Shield for destroyed DE Storage?

Fellow clashers, I have a confession to make. I'm getting a rush out of farming DE- and leaving at 39% or less, before I give my opponent a 12 hour shield. (I'm a TH9, and it's honestly not hard to do against a TH9/8)

I keep myself below 50% to keep myself from rising up in league. So a simple idea:

Should getting your DE storage COMPLETELY destroyed grant you a 12 hour shield? Or maybe an 8/6/4 hour shield? It's just an idea that I would like to hear some feedback on.

To clarify:

1) DE collectors do NOT count. I'm talking about the DE storage only.

2) The attacker will not gain any trophies

I like the idea of a 4 hour shield if DE storage gets destroyed. But I can also see it getting exploited. Consider: I save 50k DE and spend it on an upgrade. I then decide that gold or elixer is my next goal. So to get a cheap shield, I move my DE storage outside my walls. It would make it easy to DE snipe and get a cheap shield. So maybe only give the shield if DE storage was destroyed AND a minimum amount was taken? Just a thought.

Appreciate your perspective, and you have a valid point. You're helping me realize it should be, persay, a 6 hour shield.

So Question to you:

You can already put your TH outside for a "cheap" shield- why would someone give away any amount of DE vs their TH? Just a thought.

If you are have your TH outside and nobody takes it, and instead takes your D.E., my guess is you are in a very low league at the moment. Move up to crystal if you want the 39% and unders to stop. To your point... My opinion on this issue is no. What if a champion puts d.e. storage out? Free shield AND free trophies. not happening

You bring up good points, but also mis-read my post, please don't mis-quote me because you didn't read it right.

My TH always gets sniped when left outside. I'm the one who likes leaving a raid sub 39% to rob players of the shield- it doesn't happen to me enough to note. And actually- I put my DE storage outside with a trophy base (for a while) in Masters to get to champ. It worked great.

You do bring up a Frustrating point: that because something happens at high levels, the entire community needs to suffer. (That's ammo for another thread, so I'll digress.)

But just like an open TH on #1's enemy war base- above a certain point players aren't falling for it...

In otherwords, if someone is in champ fighting for +3 cups each raid. They will not take the DE bait to lose -20/-30 cups.

interesting thread we all know the DE is pretty much central till you max your heroes - I think the argument though would devalue the TH somewhat further, also it gives a free shield but would it give a star (i.e. a victory - I have never - myself understood the 40% and you get a shield rule it made champions league a rigging arena etc therefore would this make this worse?

One thing that could make things a helluva game changer is if the DE storage was in the town hall - that would change a great many things in the game - some would say wash my mouth out but it would be an interesting alternative nonetheless from a purely objective point of view. (Says the person with a TH outside in Masters 1 XD)

Unnecessary.

40% gives you a 10 hour shield. It would be nice if it was 35%, but it's actually not that easy to get to most players' DE and get less than 40% if they're really trying to protect it.

The better question though is why does the OP get off on being a jerk? Why not give players the courtesy of a shield when you raid them, and even get the win bonus and then drop a few trophies if/when you need to? (assuming you're not majorly slumming it and the win bonus is actually worth it. For my money master and up as a TH9 makes DE faster than anything.)

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea.

If you're having trouble defending your Dark Elixir Storage, build a larger and more spread out base. That way, most people will probably hit 40% before they get to your Dark Elixir so you can get a shield.
