Players show no real engagement in derby

Hi,
some members of my farm refuse opting out of the derby, although they claim not to have enough time to do the job properly. They say they would give their best, but do not realize that in the derby the best is not always enough and that they keep us from winning trophies. Instead they are reproaching me with dictatorship and other very bad insults when I urge them into opting out of the derby or even leaving the neighborhood. Others simply forget opting out and are not playing at all, but are counted in the task list, of course.
I know that other leaders of neighborhods are very strict in this matter, but I have already skipped so many players from my neighborhood since the derby has started. I am tired of this.
Cannot HayDay improve a button that allows leaders to skip players from the derby, too? This would help a lot, I think. I love the game very much, but since the derby has started it is troubling me. The improvements having been made are very clever and helpful, too, but the above mentioned issue is maybe a good addition, or?:confused:

If anyone was insulting me I would certainly send them away.

Two choices:

1. Stick to kicking out people who don't follow your rules. I know, you are tired of this.
2. Change the reason and how you play the derby. Since your neighborhood members are pushing back on your rules, maybe you all need to decide if winning is your goal or the horseshoe prizes. My group wins at times but not every time and we enjoy helping each other being successful at both the game and the derby. Win or not, the derby is a small part of our gameplay.

You might want to have a hood of yourself, but when it does not run well and you do not enjoy micro managing it, how about joining some successful and competitive hood to play together?

I mean, you can learn their way, how to deal with members causing problem, how they organise for tasks... And when you feel you are ready to run your own hood, you will know what to do.

Or alternatively SC could do what has been repeatedly asked of them and make Leaders able to opt players out of the Derby.

And when player opt back in, then what? They apparently want to participate but just not in the manner op wants. Or are you suggesting only the leader have option of opt in or out?

thx again for your answers. I have really thought about leaving my neighborhood and joining another or opening a new one ( would be the 2nd time). But, alas, I am really fond of most of my team as we have been playing together right from the beginning. It is only for 2 players who refuse to follow our rules. I have already kicked out one of them by now and as for the other I am waiting till Monday after the derby has finished - kind of giving a last chance :smirk:
I still think an opt out button would help in this case. Why not for leaders only? Maybe SC could think about it:confused:

The derby favors large, full neighborhoods. I have the unique perspective that my daughter and I are not in the same nh. Mine is 20 active players and hers is a mix of 30. We always got max horseshoes from the start of the derby. Hers rarely got more than 1 or 2. First derby change. We immediately were paired with insanely competitive nh and won maybe once or twice. Hers started doing more tasks, slowly moving toward 5 horseshoes and WON all the time! They went from around 20 to 30 also. The impact of the change made us evolve how we played derby and it is less important than derby-focused people here seem to be. With the leagues, we are able to win again and are just below the championship league as is my daughter's nh. Hers will likely move there and mine probably won't. Why? We clearly outscore hers every derby but they get the win and we don't. They have 6-8 marginal players and 4-5 who do no tasks and my nh does them all. Those extra members, even though they marginally play, help them with the matching system as it is.

Bottom line, like it or not, agree with it or not, the best place for a nh is to be filled up with some marginal players than to be full of "quality players" because it is geared toward full, relatively active members, not just a few hardcore ones. At least that is how my daughter's nh seems to win over and over with more players and less points than mine. Her competition is MUCH LESS FIERCE than the ones my group is matched with.
